I've been using Money for quite some time. I've always kept my original file
under My Documents and then I just make an exact copy of the file on an
external hard drive. Not the backup file...just the normal file. my
software just backs up My Documents to the external when I turn it on and do
it. I've never had a problem opening these backups before when I've used
them.

Recently, my D: choked after I tried Partition Magic on it. My computer was
constantly crashing and wouldn't hardly run so I went ahead and deleted the
partition and reformatted to fix my problem.

I'm trying to open my money file now which I just copied over to the
external on 4/15/05 and it's still showing almost 8MB file size. When I open
it up it has my email address in there but when I type the same damn password
I've been using for 4 years it's tellig me it doesn't match.

Any information I can get on how to fix this would be greatly apprecaited.
Please help!

Thanks!

Drew

Using Money 2005? If so, let Money 2005 create a new Money file,
clicking Decline in the process. It will do an update. Close
Money. Then open Money and check that Help->About... says you then
have version 14.0.*.1105.

Then you should be able to open or restore your existing files.

If not, Money is not backward compatible. If you try to use a Money
file from the same or a newer version than what the file had
previously been used with, you get a "password" error message, as
odd as it seems.
