Online updates seem to no longer work for me. Been trying since yesterday on
multiple accounts. Are there some tricks I can use to figure out what is
causing this?

Since Yesterday? Occasionally more patience may be needed.
http://moneycentral.msn.com/common/networkstatus.asp can sometimes
give you some relevant information.

But you also might be able to go to AccountList->UpdateNow and
enable only one institution at a time. See if one works.
