I am a first-time user of Ms Money and I am not located in US. I am trying
out the s/w with the trial version of Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe.

I have been trying to add an investment to my investment account, but it
seems a must to add in a ticker symbol in the transaction. I try to click on
the "Find symbol" button but there is no response at all, and thus the whole
transaction cannot be entered. Is there a way to record investment
transactions without a ticker symbol? I believe this is meant for the s/w to
link to the share prices (?) but the shares I am holding are not US shares so
I am not sure if this feature can work. In any case I just want to record the
transaction for tracking purposes.

Any idea how this could be done?

I am using the same version in the UK and when I type in the security name
and tell Money that it is a stock then it finds the various options so that
I can select the correct stock. I used HSBC to test this.

I tried using HSBC but it doesn't work for me. My transaction entry stucks at
the "New Stock" window, be it I typed in the name or use "Find Symbol", there
is no response at from Ms Money all. Clicking on "Finish" doesn't help as
well. There is no error, no next step, no message.. I don't know what to do
now. Is this feature activated for trial version?

What I did was from Home Page, click on Portfolio Manager in LH column.
Work with Investments
Setup a new investment
Choose an Account > XYZ Stockbrokers
Add an investment
What type > Stock
What is the symbol > Find symbol.

Enter the transaction into the investment account register. You can
get there from the AccountList. Enter the name the first time.
Thereafter use the drop-down list. You can leave the symbol blank.

Yes.
Go to Investment->Portfolio and right-click the fund. Choose
SeeInvestmentDetails. There you can blank out the symbol. You can
optionally add the symbol to the comments or rename the security to
incorporate the symbol in the name. Then, from the Details, click
PriceHistory->UpdatedPrices->UpdatePricesManually.

I follow your step, but the system will prompt me to choose an investment
type. It seems like there is no way for me not to choose an investment type,
but once i choose it, I will end up with the same page where I am suppose to
enter the symbol or find symbol. The "find symbol" function is not
responding, and there is no data under the country dropdown list... and I am
stuck... again! sigh... I wonder what's wrong, should I reinstall the whole
thing?

Let's try a test. Enter a Buy of one share of name Cimerex with
symbol US:XEC Pay $50 for that share. Any problem?

The purpose is to see if you have a problem with all names or
symbols, or whether it is a collision with a name or symbol you have
previously entered.

You can then Delete or Void that Buy.

Maybe.
