 - "gain since opening date" Hi. M06: Investing, Investing Accounts, "Gain Since Opening Date" Could someone explain to me what this means? For one investment the 'current value' is 385.34 and the 'value on 4/5/07' is 381.14 and 'gain since opening date' is 594.15. The $594.15 seems to not mean anything relevant to me because it's either wrong or I don't know what it mean. Where is this number coming from?  - recurring bill Why, when if select estimate the bill based on the last 12 instances, would not literally add the last 12 figures and divide by 12?  - Money 2006 Ignores Back / Forward Mouse Buttons A while back, I noticed that MS$ 2006 quit responding to my forward / back mouse buttons. I now have to select the back / forward arrows at the top left of the window. Obviously, not earth-shattering; just exasperating. All of my other applications respond normally to the mouse buttons.  - Money 2006 Automatically Adds Payees I recently had to do a full system reinstall. Previously, MS$ would ask whether I wanted to add a new payee to my list of payees when I entered a transaction, but now, it automatically adds new ones without prompting me.  - Money 2007 - Work with a specific Investment In Money 2005, there was an option to "Work with a specific Investment" in the Portfolio Manager. This was useful if you wanted to dig out some historical data on an investment previously owned. That option seems to be gone in Money 2007, "Work with Investments", no longer seems to allow this.  - Money 2007 balancing = 100% CPU and not responding When I balance my money 2007 checking account on Vista get differnece to $0 and hit next my PC goes to 100% CPU and money stops responding. Tried restoring last 4 backups - same Tried fixing the file, both 1 and 2 level - same Tried uninstalling, and reinstalling money - same It is like it cant update the transactions with the "R" I dont know if this was the cause but I was updateing online accounts and at the same time I balanced the account.  - How to keep different types of reports as favorites I'd like to keep sligthly different, customized versions of some reports as Favorite Reports. For instance, have one Favorite Report showing all 'Monthly Income and Expense' items and another Favorite Report excluding some categories. So what I do is I first customize the first version of the report the way I want it, and press 'Add to my favorite reports', naming it 'Report 1'. I then customize the second version of the report, and add it as a favorite as 'Report 2'. Here is the problem: when I now go to Favorite Reports and select 'Report 1' it has now assumed the 'Report 2' format as well. Not very helpful...  - M2004 / any Fidelity issues ? For the past few months I'm receiving occasional errors when I try to "update"/download transactions" from Fidelity. ( Update prices is fine and my other accounts - banks/brokers/credit cards etc work fine so not a licensing issue). I have 3 separate accounts there with same logon info that update at once and sometimes I get error stating " Problem updating 'IRA Account'... please contact Fidelity ... "More Info: General Error". Money uses same logon info for all accounts there, so can't be a password/login info problem at my end. Try it again - get the other " There is a problem with the data recevied from this online provider. Please contact the provider' customer service dept.." Today I'm getting both error messages. I went into 'online SETUP' - connected to Fidelity - it saw my accounts OK etc. Retried - same errors. ( I tried calling them - they are not open yet). My Money 2006 app works fine so my account with same info works OK. Wondering if Fidelity made some changes to their server end that others see this issue on M2004 also.  - MSN Bill Pay versus CheckFree I have been a CheckFree customer for many years. Initially through Manage Your Money, but, for the last ten years, through Microsoft Money. I do not (and won't) use any of the "sync" or "passport" options available through MSN. I will only be accessing the service through Microsoft Money. I am considering switching from using CheckFree (as an original customer) to MSN Money Bill Pay -- still all through Microsoft Money. There are some technical reasons for me to try this, having to do with an issue in Microsoft Money. Are there any disadvantages to making this switch? I am told by CheckFree customer support that there are none. I tried signing up for MSN Bill Pay yesterday, but saw no way to obtain the Money specific information that was called for during the sign-up process (and, at the time, I did not have enough time to consult with support about the issue).  - Money 2004 Help! I am trying to set up a budget. Everytime I go to creat a new budget with nothing but my recurring transations and default categories Money is entering my income with a value that is over a hundered dollars too high for the monthly subtotal. It will not let me change this value and thus it offsets all the figures. I realize money goes after previous transactions for figures, but I recently started a new job. Is there a way to just create a blank budget with the values that I enter myself? Or to erase Money's memory of previous transactions without deleting my previous transactions? Please Help!  - Money 2006 From Old Hard Drive to New Hard Drive I'm using Money 2006 which is on a hard drive that's not in good shape, although not crashed yet. I've already installed a new hard drive and want to set it up with my present Money 2006. However, to download Money 2006 from Microsoft for the new drive I go through steps that seem to end up with a downloaded trial version. Changing the trial version, as I understand, requires a Windows Live ID password that is the same one used when I purchased Money 2006 some months ago. I'm one of those people who likes to change passwords now and then so although I have a Live ID password now it isn't the one used when I purchased 2006 and that means I can't change the trial download.  - Transactions not updating properly I am considering switching from Quicken to Money 2007 mostly because of the unreliability of the Intuit quotes service (I'm currently running both programs while I evaluate which I will stick with), but I've run into a problem with Money that is a significant negative. When I update transactions from my several brokerage accounts, although the downloaded statements clearly show the buy and sell transactions, they are imported into Money only as "add shares" or "remove shares" items with "assumed" purchase and sale prices that are different from what is accurately shown on the downloaded statements. I then have to manually correct each transaction from an add or remove to the correct buy or sell and correct the price so that the cash balance for the brokerage account and capital gains analysis will be correct. Have I set up something incorrectly in the online update settings, or is this a known problem with Money? I should mention that I have no such problems with Quicken on updating my accounts (although that program has enough other problems that I thought switching to Money would be a good move).  - Refinancing a Mortgage I just refinanced my home to pay off a home equity loan. I'm trying to figure out how to set that up in Money 2007. I tried creating a Home Mortgage account for the new mortgage but I don't see how to take the proceeds of the new loan and pay off (transfer to) the Home Equity Loan account. The new loan also includes points and interest for the period from when the loan closed to the first payment. How do I show that. The Home Mortgage account just creates a liability for the amount of the loan and sets up a loan payment in the Bills area. I can't see any way to show that this loan paid off the original home equity loan. How do I do that?  - Transfer Between Classes I have a checking account, in which I've used Classification 1 and called it Checking. I've established classes, under Checking, named savings, emergency, cash. I want to transfer from one class to another in the checking account.  - Missing transactions Lasat night downloaded transactions from two credit card companies. This morning opened Money 2006 and no new credit card transactions! Both accounts at zero from last month's payments. Worse, all the checks I entered manually last week are gone. It's like nothing has been enterd since April 17. Tried to restore from a backup and the newest backup on my 'C' drive is dated April 10. No recent backups even though each time I exit, the backup seems to run.  - Scheduled Bills scroll bars only work when partial screen Money 20 The vertical scroll bars on the Manage Scheduled Bills screen are greyed out when full screen, but normal when partial screen. Problem is present when viewing my data and Test sample.mny. Other screens and other applications not affected. Quick file repair did nothing. My daughter downloaded a program she can't remember the name of and I can't find on the computer recently in order to access photos on Walmart.com. I don't know if I should remove and reinstall MS Money 2004 Small Business edition, or do something else?? It might be better to upgrade to 2007, but the program has been working well until now.  - no need for 2007 upgrade, want to go back to 2006 I recently tried a trial of money 2007 and found that there was no reason for me to have it because for what i used it for, the upgraded version was unnecessary. So, I unistalled 2007 and now want to open the backup file back on 2006, where it was created, but resaved in 2007. It will not let me do this, of course, and causes an error and closed 2006.  - Import QIF file Money 2006 In the past I always imported OFX files from my bank. They have had problems with OFX and recommended downloading QIF (long format mm-dd-yyyy) files. this works fine, however the same transactions that I have already reconciled with Money keep getting imported. When I downloaded OFX only new transactions that were not reconciled with Money showed up to be accepted. Now (using a QIF file) all transactions are imported and I have to accept up to fifty transactions that were previously already marked cleared or reconciled after balancing the account.  - Transaction downloads not working On Money 2006, I had regularly been able to download monthly statements and have it reconcile the banks' transactions with how I had recorded them. Now all of a sudden, on a credit card account and bank accounts, it goes through the motions and says there's a number of items to review, but the downloaded transactions do not appear. That is "Items to review (7)" appears on the left, but in the transaction list there are only the items I entered and nonthing to reconcile.  - Feature Requests: Savings Goal & Bill Recurrence Fix Just a couple of suggestions for the Money developers... 1) Creating a true savings goal feature. This would allow a user to earmark money within an account for a particular expense and continue to add/subtract to/from it. When viewing the account, you could then see what your current balance was with the savings goal money removed from the account or with the money in the account. The savings goal account would look like a separate account (although it really isn't) so you could view it in itself. This would also allow you to add to a savings goal from different accounts. In setting up the savings goal, you would be able to specify what your target amount is and when you want to reach that goal by. Money would then help you telling you if you are on pace to reaching your goal as time goes on by monitoring your "deposits" into the savings goal. 2) Change the recurrence engine for bills to something more in depth. You should be able to select any type of recurrence for bills that you want and not just some preset items. I have bills that recur every 3 weeks--there is no way to truely do that kind of recurrence with the current engine. Just a thought. If I look untder customer transactions they are all there. I created a subcategory uinder income just like all of my other customers. But this one shows no income received even though it does under customer transactions. Other customers do show income.  - Identifying and contacting Money intermediary Using Money '07 on XP Pro to download data from my bank. The bank does not provide a direct connection, yet is listed in Money's list of supported banks, via a third party. For over a week now, Money has been unable to retrieve my transaction data giving a very uninformative error that the attempt was unsuccessful. I've contacted my bank. Since they don't provide this service themselves, they decline to help me.  - Editing budget shows Recurring bill as zero Hi Within the Budget, I have a recurring bill under 'Bill Summary' showing up as ZERO and there is not 'Money icon' showing it is a Withdrawl or bill when I am trying to edit the Expenses. All my other recurring bills are showing the 'Money icon' indicating Withdrawl or bil. I can edit it but then when viewing the 'Budgeted' amount, this is then doubled.  - Money 2001 pay bills - Money 2006 pay bills difference I just upgrade to Money 2006 Standard from Money 2001 Standard. In Money 2001, I could open pay bills, hold the Ctrl and it would highlight multiple bills/deposits and I could see what my check balance would be After. I used this to be sure I would always have enough money in my checking to pay my bills. I don't believe Money 2006 Standard has this feature.  - Money 99 with Vista, or do I upgrade? I am using Money 99 on a Windows 98SE PC for a clubs accounts, very simple nothing complicated. I have just bought a new PC with Vista. Can I reinstall Money 99 (yes I know its old, not supported etc, but it works fine) on a Vista PC, or will I have to upgrade to Money 2005 (the latest UK version) and if so will my old files upgrade ok?  - Autofill M2004 / M2006 An easy way to do this ? 1. I WOULD like to edit aliases easily - how to do this: I'd like all gas purchases (EXXON/ HESS/Gulf/Valero etc ) to match to " Exxon" . On the Payee Rules Mgr screen I'd have to - select EXXON - then manually type all variations. They're all in there - on the preferred names screen - let me just pick 'em. Is that on another screen somewhere ? Or do I have to go to each current name and add EXXON as a variation - deleting all others ? ( want to do similar for other groups too so that's why asking if simple way to do it) The payee rules screen is not user friendly - have to choose each one on left , then next one, then next one. Can I see the aliases all at once ? " So that I could see all of the accounts that HAVE EXXON as a variation? And the " setup Preferred payee names screen" won't get these names that I catch/change - since they aren't IN my register any longer. 2. Is this a setting WE can choose in setup somewhere ? ( "Purchase" is excluded from Autofill) My bank charge card download shows first line entry as PURCHASE and the second line contains " # 5200 THE HOME DEPOT " etc. On charge purchases, I have to go in and fill in the company name.( or select from drop down) Any way to have Money look at the SECOND line for an alias/ variation to match them using autofill. It seems so simple for them to read THAT info, " purchase" and autofill. ( that's all I do) 3. How do you get around this ? Just keep up with aliases ? On the other hand everytime I download my checking info, it confuses my automatically paid bills ( that show as something like " Payment Transfer"). so it will want to match my ... electric bill to my phone bill. I'll change it to make it correct and then vice versa for bills next month. I think I got all the variations of "Payment Transfer" for now - but as the payees change the description, I get reappearing " incorrect matches" that if I didn't notice would get both accounts out of whack. How do you get around this ? Also for " Withdrawal from ATM ". If one month I use an ATM for my checking card and another month use ATM for different card - it autofills. So if not careful could take $100 out of checking account at bank A and it "matches" to your Mastercard instead. ( if that was last 'withdrawal'). I have deleted the alias or have it ignored - next time I download ( or from another bank) - their name for it is a bit different and another " withdrawal "name for it. So now a cash withdrawal from ATM wants to autofill using ' whatever the last bank was". It doesn't show the bank on my screen and I have to go to the online bank's download screen to see - did I withdraw cash advance from bank A ?  - Online Services Providors not complete When I go to add online services to an investment account at JP Morgan I do the following: 1. Manage Online Services 2. Check for new online services (beside the JP Morgan account listed under "These banks and brokerages do not provide automatic online updates") The same results happen when I try setting up a new investment account, however. 3. "J" is selected and only "Janus" is an option. The help file from JP Morgan shows many entries for "J." My best guess is that something is interfering with MM2006 (V15.0.125.513) being able to get the list of vendors providing online services. My MM file is large and was an upgrade from MM2003. I am running Norton Anti-Virus (Norton Protection Center) I have cleared my cache, cookies, reset my advanced settings, etc. from IE7. I have regserv... msxml.dll and msxml3.dll. I don't have msxml4.dll I have looked for the online link file in ..\..\webcache or whatever (one extra in a cab file) Any further suggestions? I'm using Money 2004. I am unable to change the category group for a
category called INTEREST which is in under Income. I am getting a message
stating "This category is mapped to the capital gains investment category.
It's tax line cannot be changed". I dont understand why I cannot change it
to "Periodic Income". Please can you advise.
