    - Quicken covert Please can anyone give me some advice? I have been a Quicken user for many years, but I have now been informed by Intuit that after Jan 31st 2005 they will no longer support Quicken. Therefore I have purchased MS Money 2005 Premium. I am using an XP machine with Quicken XG and as I have said MS Money 2005. I have tried to convert the Quicken file, but Money fails to convert many of the Categories, I have also exported each account out of Quicken and used the restore account function in Money to import the QIF file, this has proved a little more successful however there are still many categories not imported. i.e. "BILLS: Food" Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to get three years worth of Quicken data into Money successfully?     - Home Inventory in Money 2004 I recently upgraded to Money 2004 from Money 2000. Everything is going fine. I'm still getting used to the format, but that's not a problem really. However I recently wanted to add an item to the Home Inventory which I have quite extensively entered in Money 2000. I could not find it. So I went to the help file which told me what to do - Go to Customise My Money (home page) and add from the list. But Home Inventory is not listed.     - Money 2005 Data File 444MB!!! Hi Have been using Quicken V8 for a lot of years say 10+!! Thought it was about time to update and as Quicken doesn't support upgrades from my version to the current one thought I may as well change to Money 2005 Deluxe. The only way to bring all my old data across was by exporting it to '.qif' files and importing it into Money. Well I have just finished doing this and the resultant Money file is 444MB and the program is understandably running VERY SLOWLY. The quicken data file is 10MB....     - Money 2005 dividends dont automatically show up I use Money 2005 to track all my investments. For some reason most if not all of the dividends for mutual funds do not show up automatically yet they do for equities.     - Using Multiple versions of MS Money Is there a problem with using multiple versions of Money? If I have purchased a newer version and wish to install it on a computer that does not have Money installed, but would like to still use it on the machine that already has it installed, what problems would I likely run into?     - "downloaded" date does not update M05 Deluxe. But the problem started with M02. I do not use any online banking services like billpay or anything like that. I go out to my Credit Union site about once a week and I export my checking account to an OFX file. Each time I do that, it automatically imports to my checking account register in M05. For a couple years, it would also list the date of the last download at the top of the column to the left of the register. But suddenly on October 13, 2003, it stopped changing the date and balance in that spot. The balance at the bottom of the register is right. It's not really a problem. It's an annoyance. I have to keep a piece of paper by my computer reminding me of the last date I downloaded the account so that I don't keep downloading the same dates over and over. Can this be fixed?     - Best Way to Handle Recreating Accounts and Category Info My HD crashed and most of the data in Money 2004 Small Biz was lost. (At the same time I was served a notice from the IRS that I am being audited for Charitable Contributions and Employee Non Reimbursements.) I have received copies of all bank statements and scanned them into excel and am now converting to QIF files that will be imported into Money. Questions: 1. In order to recreate checking, savings, mortgage, car loans, and credit card accounts, should I create these accounts in Money first with a zero balance prior to import? 2. Before import, should I also edit the QIF file for all categories including all transfers paying credit cards, mortgages, car loans as well as utilities OR can I do this after import using the wizard with a manual update of each transaction for interest expense, etc.? 3. I was using 2004 SM Biz only to begin tracking a part-time business for my roommate but I don't need Small Biz for my personal records. Is there a way for my personal financials to be entered without requiring me to enter business data? I believe I tried to use the set-up wizard and was prompted for business then. But if I skip the set up and add accounts in my file then I should be ok, right? I am trying to decide to use 2004 Premium, 2004 Small Biz or 2005.     - Problems at Money 2005 Startup I have been using the trial version of Money 2005 since the year began. I was thouroughly impressed up until this morning.     - Can Not Install Money 2005 Small Business Little info first. New Pc Factory condition. Windows Xp Home.Sp2 has Money 2005 installed. I removed Money from the pc and all entries in the registry.     - Mortgage Loan and Asset Account... Hello all, Once again I'm confused. Thanks for everyone's help in the past by the way. First, just let me say that I don't really know what I'm doing but based on what I've read so far, it seems that a mortgage account would make a good asset account. So... Here's the deal, I have successfully setup an account for my mortgage company and when I look at the amortization report it's pretty damn close; off by like 2 cents. I'd say that's close enough. Now when I enter a payment into my checking account to the mortgage company account all of my splits are arranges the way they should be and the Payment, Principal and balance are right on track in the mortgage account. Then what I tried to do (And here is where I'm having trouble) is setup an Asset account that is associated with the mortgage account so that I can show my assets. After I set up an asset account which was linked to my ortgage account I just get a blank register. How do I get the proper entries into my Asset account and how will I know if they're right? By the way, I did read the online help (Which got me no where) and I did browse the FAQ. Am I just spinning my wheels here or am I going too far? I entered the transaction in my investment account and later that month when I imported my bank transactions I had one for the money paid out to me.     - Question about reports! I customized my Spending By Category report so that it reflects ONLY one of my bank and credit card accounts I have in my MS Money. So now when I go to reports and choose Spending by Category everything works the way I want it to, but when I click on Home - My Money and see the Spending By Category report there, it reflects ALL my accounts for some reason.     - Weird Problems with Investments I am in the process of entering 21 years of Investment history for my IRA. Its not as bad as it sounds, 2 - 6 entries each month. I first entered the transactions from 1994 to current (plus pre-94 investments I still own) and adjusted the opening balance in the Money Market Fund for December 1993 and everything was find. Once I found the box with the 1983 to 1993 statements, I started entering those transactions. All is find until I get to September 19, 1991 where I did a sell of a Money Market Fund to buy some stock in IBP, Inc. for $3000. Although my 8/31/91 report shows over $5100 in the Money Market-Money thinks I have $845 (I got this through trial and error). I believe this is caused from reconciled the 12/31/2004 balance. I am hoping that I can undo the reconcilation. The second problem is more interesting (smiles). As I am entering the dividends, Money has on occassion gone through and taken dividends in two investments and change them from an inflow to an outflow (like I am paying the Corporation). It is not all dividends for those investments, but a good portion of one and a few in the second one. This problem did stop when I reconciled as I discussed above. Lession learned, start with your first statement (or oldest) when you want to enter history.     - Apply Paycheck to next month's budget Hello all, I'm wondering if there is a way to apply income to the following month's budget instead of the month it's received in. For example, I get paid on the 15th and the last day of every month. For reporting sake, I'd like the paycheck received on the last day of the month to be considered income for the next month's budget instead of the current month. In other words, the paycheck received on December 31st should be income for January, not December. I could just change the date on the deposit but in some cases that will result in a negative balance in the transaction register. Is there a way to do this? I'm using Money 2004 Thanks! In the screen where I schedule bills and deposits it is possible to see only two months, however, IÂ´d like to see 12 months, no matter if the transactions in there are recurring ones...     - M05 downloading Just upgraded from trial to retail version via download (XP is OS) and the core program seems to be working ok. When I sign in, Money tells me that is is going to download in the background additional features, and I can use the core features fine, but there's never any progress in downloading the others (it always says 1% complete).     - Updates are temporarily unavailable I know many are having this problem with Yodlee, and I've asked before with no response. I cannot update 2 of my accounts that use Yodlee today. BUT I am able to occasionally. I've given up spending hours of creating new accounts, clearing Web site, etc etc... as instructed by tech. Now I find that on certain days it does indeed work.     - Money 2005 - Changes again! I have been using Money since version 1, now 2005. Every time Microsoft releases a new version of Money, features change or disappear. For example, the font used in printing checks reverts back and the now credit limit for credit cards doesn't appear at the bottom of the account register, my settings for the register display were not retained and there's more. What is the deal, Microsoft? What is the point of changing this stuff? Why can't meaningful changes be made, like multi-selecting several bills to pay with one click like Money 2002 (or 2001) had?     - Mortgage/Loan account question I have setup my morgtgage in Money 2005 S.B. I went back to my previous payemnt (haven't had it long) transactions in checking and changed the category to split Loan:Principal Payment, and Loan:Mortgage Interest with the correct amounts in each. Now I need to get things fixed in one other spot. If I go to Account List, I have Home under Loans & Liabilities. Looking at my account register, all of the transactions are there. Problem is, when I go into each transaction it is split. the first line in split, is no category, description of payment is Payment, and Amount is the total of my payment. The next line is Loan:Mortgage interest. The third line is Loan: Principal Payment. If I go in to correct these values, Money asks me if "I really want to save this deposit that is categorized as an expense. I may have chosen the wrong category.     - Can't Convert from Money 99 I've been using Money 99 happily for many years. However, I figured it was time to upgrade. So far, big mistake. I have been able to convert one of my smaller files, but on the larger file it always craps out during the conversion with a "Microsoft Money has experienced an internal error..." Whenever I try to download the list of accounts, I am told that the list is currently unavailable and to try again.     - how to single out mortgage interest by one calender year? I have Money 2003. I am trying to verify my mortgage interest payments. My mortgage company sent me my 2004 mortgage interest statement, but I want to verify that figure with what I have in Money 2003. Is there an easy way to calculate only my 2004 interest?     - How to track my saving? Hi, I wonder how i can track my saving in Money 2004 Delexus. I set up some saving goals in my budget, but i don't see how Money provides assistance about how i am doing in fulfilling my saving goals. The feature i am looking for is this, when i have left over money in my budget each money, i want to be able to divide the leftover amount into a couple "virtual accounts", each of which tracks one of my saving goals. Then i want Money to be able to tell me how much i have saved towards each specific goal and how much more i need to save.     - ING Direct... Hello again all, I just signed up for an ING Direct account and I'm using Money 2005 Deluxe. I created a new savings account called ING Direct. It wasn't in the list of accounts (Only the Canadian version). As you may or may not know, ING takes money directly from your Checking account. So, when I selected to change the account settings for the ING savings account that I created, There is a drop down that asks for the Financial Institution. ING Direct isn't in the list.     - Deleting the original budget... Hello all, First, I hope this sounds clear. I'm using M05 and I initially created a budget. I forget how. Then I created a new budget starting in February, 2005 but the old budget for January, 2005 is still there. Is there anyway to delete it without deleting the February budget. I can change the time period from current month to next month but I want to be able to see next months budget as soon as I click the budget menu item.     - mysterious discrepancy All of my MS Money entries for my bank match my statements, including the opening balance. *BUT* MS Money cannot balance my account. I don't use 2005, but I tried it and I can't believe it'd be much
different than in 2004. What I do is click on:

Accounts & Bills->Bills & Deposits

Then at the bottom click on:

New->Transfer

Then fill out that form.
