I experienced the exact same problem with Fidelity, and the following steps
worked for me:
1) First disable automatic downloads of Fidelity Statements. (Customize
Updates... then set Fidelity Investments to "Never".)
2) When manually doing a download (Update Now), only download from Fidelity
at most once per day, and as far from midnight as possible. Cal is right
that there is an issue with downloading info from Fidelity very late in the
day and very early in the morning. Multiple downloads a day seem to screw
things up as well.
Not sure if this will work for you, but good luck. I wish the Fidelity
downloads were as robust as some of the others.
