First time user
I bought a computer that came with a version of Microsoft
Money. I was wandering how good this program is. I have
used Quicken before, but never Money. I was debating on

All expenses - showing no values
I have been trying to set up the "thermometers" on the front page of MS
Money 2003 and have had success with individual transaction types - e.g.
cash withdrawls but when I try set up a "all expenses" bar it is not showing
any figures at all. I have hunted around for help on the guides but have
not had any luck. As far as I know I am doing everything right - go into
monthly spending, select top option (all expenses) set figure.........bar
appears but never leaves £0.
Have any of you had this problem before and if so, what did you do to
correct it?

Money 2003 Open Error: "Cannot open EULA, reinstall Money"
Microsoft Money 2003 Standard came with my Dell computer
that I bought back in December 2003.
First time that I tried to open Money03 today, I got an
error message immediately:
"Cannot display the End User License Agreement which must
be displayed and accepted before you can use the
application. To display the agreement, reinstall the
application."
I've reinstalled about 5 times now, using both the
Add/Change Programs tool, and by clicking the appropriate
installers on the CD. I've also fully removed the
program, rebooted, then tried an install. No such EULA
ever pops up.

How do you track an annuity where you open the account
with a sum of money, but shares are not bought. Interest
is adjustable and paid on an annual basis. I want to
track as an investment so I can use the "Performance by

2nd Deposit not showing up in Bills and Deposits
Hello,
Can anybody tell me why only one of my deposits shows up
in my 'Bills and deposits' page when I have the deposit
set up as 'Every other week'? I am viewing one month at a
time. All the bills appear but only one deposit appears
when it should, at least show two.

restoring backup
having trouble restoring my backup file, having recently
bought a newer version of Money - says that it cannot
access it - it may be a read only or is password
protected or may be in use by another program - none of

cleared balance does not appear while balancing acct.
Money 2004 - while trying to balance checking account the
Balance Account pane (left side) does not show the
cleared so far items only shows difference between
statement and register. I know previous versions had
these desposits and withdrawls itemized and the help
video shows that it does too.
Makes it difficult to narrow down discrepency when you
cannot determine the type of transaction it was (check,
depsosit)
Any thoughts why this is not showing up?

Money 2004
Cannot get Monthly Budget Report to function properly.
"Actual" expense is $0.00 as against "Budgeted" thus
difference is exactly as budgeted. Budget reports does
not seem to recognize expense posted when entered as a
check. All other reports seem okay.

my pocket pc handheld the final piece would be money for my Mac OS/X

Removal of unwanted files
At Money installation, I converted my Quicken
files 'Banks' and 'Mutuals', but then decided I wanted
everything in 1 file, which I've done. When I deleted the
2 'Mutuals' files, Money couldn't find it and went to the
installation wizard, which created another file 'My
Money' before I could stop it, then I recovered the
two 'Mutuals' files and all is OK, but I now have 2
unwanted files. How can I remove them from Money ? Also,

Apparently Vanguard funds do not permit Microsoft Money 2002 to access
data in your personal account, as does Fidelity and others. Correct?

Cannot enter password with special characters - Freemont Funds
I am using Money 2002 to access mutual fund accounts. Fidelity works
just fine. For Freemont Funds, they require a special character as
part of any password. However, the Money software will not allow a
special character in the password field.

The large majority of our reports are landscape, however
Money reverts to portrait when you exit. The paper size
and source remain as last chosen, but the orientation

Setting Up Interest Only Mortgage Payments
Anybody have any idea how you could set up a mortgage
account in Money 2004 Deluxe for a 5 year adjustable rate
mortgage making interest only payments for the first five
years?
When you put in the info for any mortgage it
automatically calculates the payments to be principal

I was running money 2000 without a problem. I installed 2003 money and it
comes up without my data. The shortcut to money 2000 disappeared--I found
backup and was able to get to the data by clicking on backup restore so I
know it is still there. How do I import my backup money 2000 into money

Backup
I have Money 2004 Standard Edition. My file is now 2 yrs
old and has a lot of data. It now asks for a second flopy
disk to save a backup.
I would like to save to a CD or DVD and keep it updated
with changes saved each time I close "Money" (just like
it does when backing up to a flopy).
I can't figure out how to save the file or "backup" the
file to one of those media without the file closing. I
thought maybe I needed to format a CD or DVD to keep the
recording session open to backup to each time I
use "Money".
My computer has "Drag N Drop" CD/DVD burning software and
I can't find a way to keep the session open for multi
recordings or "backups".
I was hoping to change the backup location in "Money" to
a CD/DVD drive, but I don't see that option. Can anyone

Money 2004 SB displays wrong balances
Money 2004 SB shows my total accounts balance as 459
Trillion dollars (yes...trillion). When I look at the
register for my checking, savings and accounts receivable
they reflect accurate amounts. I don't know where the
number is coming from.

Balancing Savings Account
I have Money 2004 and have been using money for years. Over the past
several versions, I have noticed that when I go to balance a Savings account
that earns interest, the system freezes on me if I enter the Interest amount
in the Balance Wizard at the begining. I have to leave it blank then
postpone the balance and when I start to balance again, it lets me put an
interest amount in the wizard. What can I do to resolve this? This was

Can you sub-categorize mutual funds?
I want to customize my portfolio so that I can assign
Large Cap Fund, or Small Cap Fund, or other sub-categories
to mutual funds. That way I know what % is in Large,
Intl, etc. Any ideas how to do this in Standard 2003?

Money 2000 causes 100% CPU Usage
Running MS Money 2000 on a recent IBM ThinkPad with
Windows 2000. When working in .mny file (size ~5MB), CPU
usage frequently goes up to 100%, goes down occassionally,
but is generally very high. Any browsing within .mny
file, new entries, even mouse movements cause the CPU
usage to shoot up. System behaves normally otherwise, is
new and well-guarded (no infections, no ad-/spyware,
etc.) Same behaviour also occurred on different, somewhat
older ThinkPad. Anybody having the same problem or any

Online Password Problem
Running Money 2004. When I connect to my
accounts I reach the window which says
"Enter Online Password". I enter my
password & download the data. I
do not check the box that says
" Store password in Money". When I
download again the password is already
in the password box. The only way to
clear it is to type in 9999 as an illegal
password & connect. How can I insure
that the password is not already in the

Password doesn't work
I recently installed Microsoft Money 2003 on my laptop.
I went through and did the prelimanaries of adding a few
accounts, checking, savings, etc. Now when I open Money
it asks me for a password. Is this my Microsoft .net
password? I don't recall entering a password during
setup. I did verify my .net password and it works for me
to log into hotmail. Why doesn't it work to log into
money? I continue to get the message password in

Money 2004 SB: Dimensions of logo on invoices
I'm a graphic designer, and I've created a logo for my
friend's business. He uses Microsoft Money 2004 Small
Business. I don't have access to the program and he can't
find information that tells him or me what the pixel
dimensions should be for his company's logo. He is using
one of the pre-set templates.
I've sent him one logo file (.JPG) that was 400 pixels
wide by 44 pixels tall, and Money squished the logo
horizontally. I can play games and guess, but I'd really
like to know the exact dimensions I have to play with.
I've looked in Microsoft's online help screens to no avail.

operate. eg How do we enter a dividend from a foreign

I have two banks nether of which works directly with money (TD Waterhouse &
Washington Mutual). I am considering Wells Fargo and NationsBank.

Money 2004 desktop and Pocket PC discrepency
I have been using MS Money for Pocket PC and it has been
working great until recently. There is a discrepancy
between my desktop and my Pocket PC for the balances of
two accounts.
The differences are both equal to the amounts of two
transactions in the account register. I entered them
separately, but they showed up as part of the same
transaction in the electonic statement (one was a deposit
and the other was a transfer from check to a cash
account).
The desktop version of Money let me match the two
transactions to the same electronic transaction. Money
for the Pocket PC seems confused by this and seems to
count both transactions twice.
Can anyone help?

Any Experience with Bank One Online Bill Pay?
I just signed up for Bank One Online Bill Pay, after hearing that a
recent service upgrade allowed much tighter integration with MS Money
and other finance softwares. However, when I try to set up my account
for making an electronic payment and get the set up online provider
screen, I am met with only two choices: MSN Bill Pay or CheckFree
(existing customers only). Does anyone know how I can use Bank One's
online bill payment with MS Money? Preferably, I'd like to be able to
receive the e-bills and other features. I hope that this is not only
available to MSN Bill Pay.

Bank One: one more aspect of the Exciting Changes
Hello:
just learned about this. The new exciting online payment system made
impossible sending epay to a payee who already has another pending online
payment.
Which means, for instance, that it's impossible to send an extra principal
mortgage payment if the regular payment is scheduled as Apay. The new
exciting system helpfully advises to cancel all pending payments before
processing the new one.
Nice job, Bank One. Killed yet another feature that was working since 1995
or so.

Download Transaction Do Not download
Money 2004 for 6 mos, a user since 10 yrs on other versions., good software,
download all banking 3 different banks over this time, all of a sudden
cannot download, see the download dialog box flick, but nothing. No software
added except XP updates. Use SpyBot SD but did before. Probably has been
like this for a week or so but now at month end I paid attention and cannot
get going.
Ideas, Is it me or did something change in the world that I missed. Oh yes

After opening and updating I get an error message that
money has to shut down. After i update again the downloads

Downloaded Transactions Don't Show Up
I'm using MsMoney 2004.
I download the transactions from my bank, and this has been working up
until now. Even though it says the transactions have downloaded, I don't
see any transactions past April 30.
I have cleared out my temporary internet files and started money with the
'-s' parameter. Still no happiness.
I have also tried creating a brand new money file with only this account
added and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions please?

Transaction View (Deposits vs Debits)
How do I get my deposits to list before my debits while
in the register (when both are done on the same day).
I've upgraded to 2004 standard in hopes that this would
fix this.

After reading this forum, I understand now that a credit card payment i
basically a transfer. You mark it as a payment in your checking and i
appears automatically on the credit card account. But when I downloa
CC statement, what should I do with the payments that was alread
there? It will be a duplicate of the "transfer" transaction.... do
delete it?? Can I merge them?
