I have my Money 2007 file password protected (my own password -- not a Live
Windows or MSN/hotmail type of password).

I also use Microsoft Money Link to obtain data for several Excel worksheets.
Some, but not all, of these worksheets are also password protected.

If I use MoneyLink to obtain data for a worksheet, the MoneyLink UI prompts me
for the password. This has been the case for many years, and seems proper.

However, during this past week, there have now been two occasions, using two
differenct workbooks, when I have opened a workbook; requested a "Refresh All
Money Data", and NOT been prompted for the password. The data has been
obtained!

Money is not running in the background according to task manager, but that has
not made any difference in the past.

If I open a new workbook, and ask for Money data, I will get prompted for the
password. But if I start a new workbook from a template, which has MoneyLink
tables, I may or may not get prompted for a password.

One of the workbooks I use regularly; one I had not opened since January.

If I CLOSE Excel, the next time I ask for an Update I will be prompted for the
password, but if I close the workbook and then re-open it, I will not be
prompted for the password.

Any thoughts as to what has apparently changed?

Just a thought. I wonder what would happen if Excel was closed, you
made a change in a Money entry that should affect your spreadsheet,
close Money, and open Excel.

See if either Excel asks for the password or uses old data.
