    - Money including transactions from "deleted" accounts. I have several checking acctouns with the same bank. Money auto-pulls updates from all of them. Two of the acctounts are "personal spending" for me and my wife. These contain "disposable" monies, and I don't care to categorise this spending. I've marked these two accounts as "closed" but Money still incorporates transactions from those acctounts into any Report I make. I noticed that although I marked the two acctounts as closed, and I don't see them in the acctounts register, Money is still pulling updates from these acctounts. When I try to actually Delete one of these accounts, Money warns me that it will delete all the acctounts for that institution. So I don't.     - Transaction won't download to my register Set up Auto Update for my checking and two savings accounts. Had to merge them because Money wouldn't allow me to identify the existing accounts that matched (ARGGGGHHH!, why have an option if it can't be used?). Now when I update, the transactions get entered in the Web interface, but not into my local register. WTF? I hate this program! Guess I'll go back to entering them manually. Any help is appreciated.     - Bills charged to credit cards? I have most of my bills being charged to my credit card (so as to get my 1% cash back) and I pay off the balance each month. I have the card included in my Debt Reduction planner to schedule payments for me. How do I get Money 2006 to work with this? If I change my bills to say they're being paid from the credit card, when I look at the cash flow forecast for that account I see the balance increasing from the bills but I don't see Money showing monthly payments. As a result my checking account's cash flow forecast is very skewed since it doesn't reflect the credit card payments to cover the bills. Is there any way to make this work? Right now I have all my bills still pointing to my checking account and then when I actually enter the bill in the register I change the account to my credit card.     - Best (least screwed up) version of Money? Is there a consensus as to which of the recent version of Money is the least screwed up? I've upgraded every year, including this year to Money 2006, but I'm not a happy camper. In particular, the automatic download and so on from Fidelity isn't working any longer (could it be because I replace IE6 with the Beta version of IE7?), and the process for downloading stuff from the local back is kind of backwards. I was thinking of dropping back to one of the previous versions of Money but I'm not sure which one should be the target year? I have original disks for 2004 and 2005, and maybe, deep in the archives, previous versions. So, if I'm interested in having the least trouble with Money, which of the versions should I be using?     - Money 2005 auto-entering transactions in other accounts via transf Not sure how to sum this up. But: I have checking account A and B at the same bank. I download all the transactions. MS money balances and bank balances match. My transactions include transfers from A to B. When I reconcile my downloaded transactions, and categorise the transfers as actual transfers, Money will add a transaction on the other side. I.e. if the original transaction was $100 from A to B, when I mark that as a "transfer" when I'm reconciling A account, Money will behind the scenes go to B and enter another $100 incoming. Since acctount B already synced, it already has a transaction reflecting this transfer. So, now B has a double transfer deposit, and the balance is trown off. I transfer money between accounts often, so this is a total hassle. If I don't categorize them as transfers, Money willl typically mistategorise them as income, which is also a hassle.     - New User with weird error I have always been a quicken user but this weekend we decided to move over to Microsoft Money because it appears to be a superior product. We added our accounts and everything looks like it went great. I see our Credit card, checking and savings accounts in there. When I look at the Savings and Credit Card accounts everything is perfect but when I look at the Checking all our data in not in there. Our Check register only has from 2/15 to 3/1. it should have from 2/1 to 4/15. So when I look at the accounts Home Page I see the "transactions to read:263" so I click that and nothing is there. I have gone through all the views and still nothing. I looked online and found related articles and did all the steps like, empty temp files, repair file and the other things but I can't seem to figure it out. I reinstalled and even installed it on another computer with the same results. I have deleted the account a dozen times with the same results. I have tried downloading all teh versions WellsFargo.com has available and manually importing them but nothing seems to be working. what is weird is when I view my accounts at money.msn.com, I see everything perfectly. any thoughts?     - Can't open mny files I recently had to reformat and reinstall all my programs, including Money 2005. I carefully backed up all my important files, including mny files and the backups. I reinstalled Money 2005, and the program won't open, saying alternately that the files are from Money 2004 (???) and that it can't find them. I can't open the program at all because it keeps going round and round about the files. I really don't want to just delete them and start all over if there is another way out of this.     - Small Business: Categorizing depreciating expenses Hello small business edition users, Record keeping issue: How do you all categorize expenses that are *depreciable*? Do you create your own category(ies) under "Other business expense?" The reason I ask is because you don't necessarily want the full value of depreciated assets to show up in something like the profit and loss report. i.e. you don't really want your $3000 computer lumped in with this year's "Office expenses" since you don't get to deduct the whole thing, right? I was wondering if there are any clever ways other folks out there categorize these kinds of expenses to keep their business reports clear.     - Money 2006, QFX & 2 Years Online Services I am thinking about moving from Quicken 2002 to Mny 2006. My Banks provide QFX files. The way I've been using these is to logon to their web sites directly, download and save the qfx files, then double-click on them to open Quicken and import. I've tested opening the files with Mny06 and it seems to work ok. So, will I be able to continue doing this even after the 2 years of online services expire?     - Setting up associated cash accounts & the role of "contributions" I used to consider myself reasonably software savvy before this came up. I bought MS Money 2006, made online connections to several investment accounts, downloaded or imported transactions, and am reasonably happy with that in that all the transactions are there and I don't have to manually enter them and the online updates pick up new ones. What I don't seem to understand on some basic level is the associated cash accounts. I believe I understand what it's supposed to do, I'm just not sure how to set it up. For Fidelity, as an example, there's a money market fund, ticker symbol FDRXX, which MS Money dubbs "Fidelity Cash Reserves"... fine by me... and this money market fund obviously fills the role of what MS Money intends with an "associated cash account." In the end I wind up with FDRXX listed as a separate investment, like my mutual funds, and something called "contributions ($)" listed at the bottom as a negative amount. MS Money deducts this amount, which is the bulk of the dollars actually there, in it's assessment of the Total Account Value. Telling MS Money that "Fidelity Cash Reserves" IS the cash associated account on the account settings page doesn't seem to work. Telling MS Money that "FDRXX" IS the associated cash account doesn't work, either, nor does doing these things, backing it up, and then signing on again fresh to MS Money. Deleting the account altogether and starting over doesn't seem to do it, since MS Money connects directly to Fidelity to get the transactions in the first place. I want to know how my credit card is spending for the lat 30 days. Is there a way to print a report for the last 30 days or even better yet print a report on just my credit card and the catagories that I am spending the money in?     - Add Shares - HELP! I downloaded my stock trading information directly from Penson Financial Services. When I imported the data into Money the program decided that it needed to "ADD SHARES" to makes sure that I wouldn't have a negative balance of shares in my account. But the program didn't do it correctly, giving me many more ADD SHARES than I need. When I go through and reconcile the register with the Excel Spreadsheet that I also created with the data, I find that I'll have three or more ADD SHARES when the account would zero out without them. When I try to delete the additional ADD SHARES from the register, I'm told that the shares cannot be deleted because it will cause my share count to fall below zero. THAT'S JUST NOT TRUE! The positions reconcile perfectly with my spreadsheet. The spreadsheet shows that the shares match and zero out. Why can't I delete those extra lines of ADD SHARES? I have my paychecks transferring my 401k Contribution & company match to my 401k Investment account. My balance only shows those totals.     - go back to report always at bottom When I am looking at a transaction report in money and leave it for some reason, when I go back, it always goes to the bottom of the report. Let's say, I right click on a transaction and choose to go to that transaction. It will take me to that transaction in the register. If I then click on the left arrow (or press <alt><left arrow> or click on the <back> button on my mouse), the report will reappear, but it will not be displaying the transaction I just left. It displays the final "page" of the report, not the front of the report, which includes the transaction. I find this irritating. It is not the same behavior you get when jumping between accounts on either side of a transfer. So, is there a work-around (like a setting) better than scrolling to the top each time?     - Thanks Microsoft! I will save a ton of money upgrading software from this point forward. Each version of Money is worse than the one preceding it. I would just be happy if the program would download the updates from my institutions on a consistent basis. I do not understand how all my financial institutions have a problem at the same time. I might be able to get updates to my checking account if I try the update button five or six times. Another problem with Microsoft's program is how MoneyCentral has to download the information first then pass it along to me. Is this really necessary? Why can't money just connect directly with my bank? Another problem is how duplicate transactions get crested over and over again. How many times does one have accept something before it disappears?     - Money 2005 stuck on "Update in progress" The account list shows all of my automatically updating accounts are "Update in progress." When I try an update, the stock and fund quotes update fine. None of the accounts (credit cards, etc.) update. Three successive message boxes appear - the first two only for a second. 1. Updating account information 2. Processing Service Updates 3. Update not complete. Then the update results show an error message for each account: "Microsoft Money could not update your account. Please try to update your account again."     - budget not tracking a category correctly I've set up a category and set up the budget to track it. But for some reason, the "thermometer" at the bottom of the check register is only keeping track of certain debits from that category. For instance, for this month, it says I've spent $350 of my allocated $600 in that category, but in reality, I've spent over $400. When I double click the thermometer to see the itemized debits, some are missing. But when I go back to the check register to see if I've categorized them correctly, I have. On the web we have separate login ids and passwords to Amex. Money seems to assume and only allows one logon id per financial institution for automatic downloads.
