I've been a user of Money (CDN) software for over 8 years now and recently
decided to upgrade to MONEY 2006 (CDN) because our previous files are really
messed up. Files have not been updating properly and there are way too many
categories recorded.
I'd like to keep all my past history but things have just gotten far too
complicated so we thought we'd upgrade to 2006.
Problem is that there used to be a WIZARD that would walk you through set
up....now it asks for your MSN PASSPORT. When I enter that I get all kinds of
past history coming in from previous accounts, funds etc. Is there a way to
avoid this and truely start FRESH or do I need to create a new MSN PASSPORT
for use with MONEY 2006 perhaps???
As well, it indicates that many of the banks and financial institutions that
we use here in Canada are not supported??? ie TD Canada Trust, ING Direct,
Manulife etc.. which is bizarre! even though elsewhere indicates that they
are supported...yet you can't find them in the alphabetical listings shown.
I'm really confused by what's happening here with 2006 but would really like
to get back to tracking my finances with online software.
Hope someone can help!!!

I suggest you consider QIF export and import.

Select Decline when you get to the section early in the process.
That will be followed by another box where you will confirm you do
not want a Passport on that file. Then you will get a box asking
about a conventional password. You can select to not have a password
at all

I don't have much to offer there. Let's hope one of the Canadian
users will have some suggestions there.

A really neat way to find prior postings in this group is to use the
Google Usenet Groups archive.

http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search enter words that you
think would be in relevant posts into the "all of the words" box.
Enter microsoft.public.money into the newsgroup box. Consider
selecting Sort By Date.

I'm pretty sure it is loading the information from MoneyCentral. You can go
into the old file, go to "Tools", "Settings" and "Access Your money Data on
the web". Walk through the dialogs and disconnect from MoneyCentral and tell
it to delete all the data on the Web Server.

Then set up your new file, and if asked for a connection to MoneyCentral,
tell it to only use your local data to publish to MoneyCentral.

Other than MoneyCentral, if you are doing a fresh new file, not an upgrade
of an existing file, then there is no connection to get data from the old
file.

Hope that helps.

I also use the CDN version and found that most of the financial institutuins
are not supported for online update. I can only download the transactions
from within the institution's website. In the contrary, Quicken has a similar
function and it does support TD CanadaTrust for onlne updates.

I hope MS Mondy will extend the support to the Canadian banks...
