Updating stock quotes on line
I have Money 2003 which was installed on my computer when
I bought it. Up until today I have been able obtain
stock quotes for my portfolio using the on line feature
built into the Money program. I went to update the stock
today and the on line feature has been delete and it can
only be done manually one at a time. Why has this

unable to update stock prices in Money 2004
I am using Money 2004 Deluxe. For the past 3 days, when I tried to
update the stock prices online, a message comes up saying the update
was completed ok, but there would be no price change in the stocks.
When I checked the update summary, it says prices were last updated
May 25, 3 days ago. YET, each time I select update prices online, the

Money 2004
I can't sign in to Money 2004. Every time I try it puts a
error need to close message up and then it sends the
message to microsoft and I am tired of it. Does anyone
have any suggestions?

Money 99 - not calculating interest on Credit Card accounts
Anyone know how Money calculates the interest on Credit Card Accounts? When I set up the account and enter the interest rate and payment, I can go to the balance forecast and it only shows my payment being deducted each month and no interest being drawn. Mutual fund quotes are all -99.900
When Money started and updated internet information, it brought down
all of my mutual fund quotes at -99.990. I run Money 2000 Canadian
Edition. I hope that this is just a problem with the quotes server,
but would like this confirmed.

In a new install, I get the setup assistant. Is there a

daily restore required
I've just started using Money 2004, and when I have it up
and running, it all appears fine.
But once a day, I try to open it and it gives me an error
message telling me that a component is missing, and to
reinstall.
I did that the first time, and what a mess.
Now I just go to XP restore point and it fixes it
temporarily.
Any ideas why I have to go through this?

Credit Card Balance showing up as income
I've "fixed" this 2-3 times, but MONEY 2004 continues to
send me back with the same problem. There appears to be a
bug with my software as my Credit Card shows my charges
as income and my credits as expenses. I downloaded my
statements and doublechecked to make sure everything is
in the right column.
As some points, the account balances the credits/charges
perfectly with the account following proper math. At
other times, it reverses the two and actually says I have
more money when I spend it.
Any thoughts on how I can get rid of this. It really
throws of my Account List page. One of my credit cards
reflects the proper balance while the other one says my
charges on it are paying the othe account (which it
can't).

Export/import stock price from/to Money
I used Money 2003 in Taiwan (not USA). The stock is not USA stock,
so I don't use the on-line update stock price.
Is there any method to export/import my stock price ?
Even write a program to do that, it's OK for me.

Bulk-assign transactions to categories
Hi,
I downloaded a bunch of transactions from my bank want to
assign them to appropriate categories. Money made a best
guess on some of the transactions, but most of them are
still unassigned. Is there a way to bulk-assign a bunch
of transactions to one category _after_ they were
downloaded from the bank ? I know that for transactions
that I'll download from this point on Money will assign
them to the right categories based on previous history.
However right now I have about 200 unassigned
transactions, I can't believe I have to go through them
one-by-one manually ! I figured out a way to query for
all transactions with certain text in the transaction
name, but I could not find a way to assign them to a
particular category. Can somebody help ?

Problem Solved
I finally got it. When I uninstalled the program I did
not delete the folder out of the program files directory.
I uninstalled again deleted the folder and then
reinstalled in a differently named folder and it came

Late-Clearing check downloading from bank as duplicate
I have MS Money 2000 Standard Edition Version 8.0.
I paid a bill in March and entered it manually -- check number, date,
amount and everything.
When I download the transaction from the bank, it enters as an
additional check with the same number and the date that it cleared the
bank.
It took over two months for the check to clear. But, shouldn't MS
Money recognize the check by check number and NOT include it as a
'new' transaction??
I've tried deleting the manual entry and correcting the date on the
downloaded entry. That doesn't work. It just sees it as a 'new'
transaction the next time I download.

Sales Ledger & Bank Charges
Hi all,
I have Money 2004 SB Edition. My situation is:
I issue an invoice to a customer an amount X. The custom pays my internet
merchant who takes a percentage A and leaves me with an amount Y. I then
receive a cheque from the internet merchant and deposit it in my account. My
bank then removes some charges B and gives me the rest amount Z. Sad :)
Anyways, What accounts/categories do I need to set up and use in order to
have the following:
1. The customer invoice/account with amount X
2. The merchant account with amount A
3. Bank charges with amount B
4. My sales ledger with amount Z

Which version?
Hi,
I have been using an old version (pre Y2K) of Money for
years for doing my small business accounts and it has
been basic, but great. But I upgraded my pc so I bought
Money 2004 (standard).
Unfortunately now I have it out of the box I've found
that it is no good for my small business, as unlike the
old version I have been using, it doesnt calculate sales
tax for each transaction/category. I need this for my 2
monthly sales tax reports.
So, to save time downloading and installing each version,
can anyone tell me which version(s) allow sales tax
reports by category? Then (hopefully) they are available
in my country (New Zealand) - all I have been able to
find so far is 2004 standard. The Microsoft NZ website is
no help as its only showing Money 2002 standard as
available.

cash flow failure
In Money '04 when trying to use cash flow, the window
insists i set up at least one account...i have 11
cash flow worked fine inthe trial version but when i

One more thing I thought I would mention. Money express
still works fine with the .mny file that will not open in
money 2004. I also can't create a new file with out the
crash. See "Still No Luck!" and "Error Money encountered

other details. I can't find anything in any of the
knowledge bases or FAQ's I have found. HELP!!!

Recommend an Internet Bank?
My bank recently switched from allowing me to pay bills
and download transactions from within Money to requiring
me to download statements and pay bills exclusively from
the bank's website. It is a real pain, compared to the
prior convenience. Now I am having trouble finding
another bank that will let me use MS Money to its fullest
extent.
Can you recommend a bank that permits you do download
transactions and pay bills from within Money, without
having to go to the bank's website?

Money 2004 crashes in budget
Every single time I try to access the budget feature,
Money 2004 crashes hard. I tried repairing my data file,
but it didn't help. Has anyone else had this problem?

I used Money 2003 in Taiwan (not USA). The stock is not USA stock,
so I don't use the on-line update stock price.
Is there any method to export/import my stock price.
Even write a program to do that, it's OK for me.

ALC<402c> code in balancing the checkbook
I am getting this code showing up in both the service
charge and interest amount boxes when balancing my
checkbook in Money 3.0 with Windows XP OS. Currently
after leaving the balancing function without completing
it, I cannot get by the first window, when returning,
because the ALC<402c> is in light gray and not
accessible. The program will not let me continue because
it says ALC<402c> in not a valid entry. But I cannot get
rid of it. Any ideas?? I have tried re-loading the

How can I download Money 2003 Deluxe?
I'm user of Money 2003 Deluxe. I perchased Money Deluxe
2003 English Upgrade From Money Trial. I deleted the setup
file by mistake. Hence, I tried to find the Money 2003
Deluxe in the MS sites. However, I couldn't find. I want
to reinstall Money 2003 Deluxe. I have the activation
number.
How can I download Money 2003 Deluxe?
In addtion, can I buy the upgrade files to Money 2004
Deluxe from Money 2003 Deluxe?

M04 will not open
When I attempt to launch MS Money 2004, I get the
following error message: "Money has not installed
correctly. Try installing again. Or, if you have installed
from the Internet, make sure that you have downloaded all
the components you need to run."
I have tried reinstalling several times and I have turned
off any virus software I have. I do not get any error
message while loading the program from the CD-ROM to my
hard drive. I am still able to run my older copy of Money
2003.

Restore Backup Problems
My hard drive recently crashed. Lucky for me, I always
backed up my data to a floppy. UNLUCKY for me, when I
try to restore the back up, I get an error message that
says the file is either corrupted or not a Money backup
file.
There are three other files on the disc (all word .doc
files) and they open without any problems.
Anyone have this problem or know of a possible remedy. I
don't want to start all over again (3 years of data...)!

Budget amounts wrong, Please help!!
Here is my delema. In Microsoft Money 2004 I have set up
my budget and all was great until I was reviwing my
current budget status. Under some of my expenses it
shows the budgeted amount as double what (and sometimes
triple) what it should be. If I choose one of these
items and click edit it shows the box with the choice of
editing "a Bill in this category" or "An additional
expnese in this category" Under "a Bill in this
category" it has a pull down menu and it shows the same
item more than once. Only one of the identical choices
can be used and it shows the correct information. When I
go back to see if my budget is correct it shows only the
correct amount. Please someone I would love to fix this
problem if possible. The problem here is in the
reveiwing current budget status it makes it look like I
am under budget and that my budget is much higher than it

Automatic Invoicing
Is there a way with MS Money 2004 SBE, to have invoices
renew themselves every 30 days, or have the bills/deposits
list use the account recevables account so that
transactions in the bills/deposits list can count as
accounts recevied. The reason is I still want to use the
customer balance feature that I get with AR, but I want to
have the ability that someone is on a monthly payment
plan, I can track their payments and so forth without

How can I add my bank's logo?
In Money 2004, I have various accounts set up with
different banks. Some banks have their logo displayed on
the left sidebar when you click for informaton about the
institution, but some don't. I guess this is because not
all banks are fully affiliated or may not have provided
their logo.
Is there any way that I can add my bank's logo?

Still No Luck!
I really appreciate all the tips but, none have worked. I
tried to call Microsoft who sent me to HP who sent me to
some call center who I was on the phone with for an hour
and then got disconnected. This is what I have done.
1. Attempt to use repair utility: found no errors - no
luck
2. Uninstall/Reinstall: several times no errors - no luck
3. Open Money with sample: works fine with sample
4. Try to create new file: new account wizard works until
you click finish and then I get the same error
5. Try to open back up file: error every time
6. Try to manually register mspfctl0.dll: "LoadLibrary
("mspfctl0.dll")failed - The specified module could not
be found.
7. Clear temp folders in documents and settings - no luck
The HP guy was starting to talk about some internal
database in XP before we got disconnected. I was on the
phone with him an hour and he had just basically read
this site to me. Again the error I get is:

I have added a new liability account named "Home Equity
Loan Account". It has a balance of approximately $15,000.
Even though I have cleared and rechecked the account names
in the reports section making sure that this new account
has been marked for inclusion, it doesn't appear on the

Cannot delete draft

By mistake, I saved an EPay I was working on as a draft.
I later deleted the transaction from the electronic
transaction queue.
The transaction still shows in my ledger, italicized, with
no option to delete or edit.
How can I get rid of it?

When I upgraded to Money 2004, it classified my future
mortgage payments as deposited paychecks instead of
withdrawn payments on my mortgage. I can't figure out how

Work on M04-Dlx file temporarily with M04-demo or M04-Standard?
Any information would be appreciated on my question:
Till a week or two ago I was running Money 2004 Deluxe and my
computer's disk drive died. Luckily I learned from a system crash
last year to backup my data almost every day, so my backup was only a
day old when the computer crashed.
Unfortunately, I am not able to locate my Money 2004 Deluxe CD at the
moment (it's in storage somewhere). I have two options:
1. I bought a new PC to replace the one in which the drive crashed,
and I got Money 2004 Standard with it. Should I try importing the
M04-Dlx backup data file into M04 Standard? Will I lose information
from the backup data file? Can I then bring the file into M04-Dlx
when I do find my software?
2. Should I download the M04 Deluxe demo (if any, haven't checked) and
use that till I find my CD and am able to install it? I hope that I
can then take the data at the end of the trial period and continue to
use it in my copy of M04-Deluxe?

Money 2000 Invoice printing problem
I have a problem with the characters in invoices all
printing upside down. The characters are all laid out in
the correct place but the characters are flipped upside
down.
Report printing is all ok. I have tried reinstalling
Money and also doing a Restore in XP back to before the
problem occurred but no improvement.

Multiple Paychecks?
Hello,
I'd like to know if Money (any version) can correctly match two paychecks in
the same deposit if I download the transactions from my bank? I have one
paycheck that gets deposited weekly, and the other bi-weekly. So twice a
month there are deposits with multiple paychecks. Currently I'm using
another financial software, but considering switching to Money. I'd like to
know if it can handle this before I do. I have no previous experience with
Microsoft Money.

Internet Connections / News Updates Money 2004
I know that my internet connection works. I can view
webpages with IE and also Money 2004. When I click on the
update now links the message says that it goes through but
the updates are not showing up. Also, when I am trying to
setup my passwords for my bank accounts it needs to
connect to the internet but It says I have no internet
connection set up. I am using Adelphia Cable as my ISP.
I contacted them and they say it is not their end why
Money cant connect. I was given a cd to automatically
setup my internet I did not manually configure anything.
If you know anything about this let me know.
