 - Money 2007 password problems I just upgraded from 2004 to 2007. Money initially allowed me to access data file with existing hotmail email account and password. After converting backup file, exited Money, then tried to access again. Now says that email or password is incorrect. Tried accessing Passport services with old password. Said I was logged on. Changed password to a "strong" password. Money 2007 STILL will not allow me access to file. I have verified I have access with Live access, have logged off, verified internet access etc. Money won't allow me access to file either onliine or off line unlike old version of Money.  - Share sale recorded in cash account as payment !!!! In my portfolio I recorded a share sale but it is showing in the cash account as a payment rather than a receipt. I have corrected it several times but when I close money and re-start it later it keeps changing the transaction back to a payment. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone suggest a solution?  - budget category problems Had MM 2004, upgraged to 2006 deluxe to solve this two fold problem, but it still exists. First, when I make my mortgage payment, it is automatically deducted from my checking account, and MM lumps it all together in the budget as debt. However, the payment is actually a) principal b) interest c) property tax and d) insurance. Because it is all lumped together as debt under a "special" line on the budget, it won't take the categories I've assigned each part of the split payment and put them where they belong in the budget. If I change the category from Loan Payment : Home Mortgage to split, it doesn't automatically put the payment into my home loan like it should. Second, when ever I have money withdrawn automatically from my checking to go into various retirement accounts for my wife and I (4x month), it doesn't allow me to assign a category (i.e. retirement) so it shows up as transfers out of my budget instead of in the retirement category like I want it to. What's the point of putting money into categories in your budget if MM hijacks the category for automated payments? Is this a flaw in the program, or is there a work around? Thanks in advance.  - Password issues -- Money 2005 vs. Windows Live/Passport Money 2005 decided earlier today to stop accepting the memorized password attached to it (I'm the only person using this machine). It appears that I'd accidentally updated/replaced the password when I recently acquired broadband access and MSN, thereby converting to a Windows Live ID from the prior Passport one. So I went through the process of resetting the password via the Web. Well and good, or so I thought. Except -- I created a password that the Web system classed as Strong (thus, not all the characters are alphanumeric), and when I typed *that* into the Money 2005 sign-in form, I got an error message indicating that Money 2005 passwords can't have special characters in them. Obviously I can use Money in "Work Offline" mode, but is there any way to reconcile the conflict without resetting (and weakening) the password again? -- = John C.  - MS Money 2006: How do I move my data from my desktop to my laptop? I've got Microsoft Money 2006 Premium on my old desktop. Suddenly this morning my desktop had a lot of problems coming up. Naturally, I am very anxious about this! One of my biggest concerns will be getting my MS Money database copied/moved to my new laptop.  - Money 2006 not updating correctly This is kind of a weird problem. Money appears to download transactions from our credit union OK, but the transactions are not appearing in the registry even though the total appears in the summary on the left side of the screen. I am stumped. The file format used by our credit union is *.ofc, which Money doesn't appear to recognize for some reason. I'm hoping that someone will recognize this problem and may have some suggestions. (I did try to repair the file, but that didn't work.) Thanks for your help.  - Money 2007 Performance Technique In addition to the draconian File->Repair->RemoveAllBillsData method, there is a more subtle thing that might improve things for some who have upgraded to Money 2007-- especially for files with a lot of history. Archive! (but there is a caveat) A feature has been added where Money removes deleted Payees when you Archive, rather than just hiding them. Thus there may be some detritus to remove. But we know the downside of Archive: removing old transactions that we may have some need for. The way to avoid that is to specify a date *earlier* than your earliest transaction. Thus no transaction actually gets removed. Perhaps you want to select 1/1/1960. Selecting a date that causes some transactions to be removed is still not a good idea for most people. It would be good to keep an extra copy of your file before doing this. And in this case, I am thinking more about size comparisons. I don't know if anybody will have much size change. The real thing sought would be some performance, but that would be harder to measure. So this is a special case for those who had decided to never archive. Let us know if it helped or did not.  - Converting from Money 2006 I recently bought and downloaded Microsoft Money Essentials 2007. I have been using the 2006 version and when I tried to open my 2006 data file it said this version of Money cannot open previous versions of Money data???? Nowhere I could find on the Microosft Money website does it say that? If that's the case what version do I need to upgrade to in order to convert my 2006 data? How do I get my money back for Microsoft Money Essentials 2007 verison or can I upgrade to another version for a discount because I've already bought an paid for this verison?  - Money 2007 is not allowing manual match on transactions in the register I have a credit card account that is setup to download transactions online. Some of the transactions I have downloaded appear in bold, and are duplicates of existing transactions which are not bold, and are not marked cleared or reconciled or even marked as 'E'. Money failed to match these transactions automatically. When I tried to click 'Change' to match up manually, the *only* transactions that appear as viable matches are coming from the 'Bills' list. None of the transactions already in the account are listed, so I can't actually match them. Even if I manually create a brand new transaction that looks very much like the downloaded transaction (in terms of date and amount), it is not listed as an elligible match.  - Portfolio Manager Current Balance I've used Portfolio Manager (PM) for many years (at least since 1998). Over the years MSN Money and perhaps other things have grown up around PM but I only use PM. Recently I've noticed that in one of my accounts the Current Balance has gone funny on me. When I set the Current Balance in Account Settings and then click Done and look at the portfolio I see the balance on that account as being $10.95 less than I set it to be. If I go back to Account Setting the value will match the amount I saw in the portfolio view even though I just set it to be $10.95 higher than it shows.  - Savings and Spending budget What experience does anyone here have with it? One thing I found is that it's better at track savings. It's weaker in other ways. It doesn't link to scheduled bills and, as others observed, the effect on the cash flow forecast seems dubious.  - 401k Qty/Price/Toal question (Money 2002) I just started contributing to my 401k and MSMoney disagrees with my 401k statement. Sample line for a Buy... I bought .09 shares at $144.31 per share... My statement says I paid $13.04, no commisions MSMoney 02 says I paid $12.99 (or I can manually change the total and it puts the difference into the commision line) I have 3 "Buys" that are off like this one and 5 that are correct.  - Corrupted Money file? About two months ago my downloads quit working so that I can no longer download transactions from my bank (Mobile Oil Federal Credit Union). It had worked fine before but just quit working one day. I have been working with tech support but I am just about ready to give up on them. The last email tech support sent to me stated that they felt my passport credentials had become corrupted, they stated this because I was able to create a new passport and create a new money file and that new money file would update with my bank just fine. But I believe what they failed to understand is that I was also able to create another new money file and use my original passport log in and update my accounts from my bank as well. In my opinion there appears to be a problem my money data file, since my passport log in works fine with a new money data file. Does anyone have any opinions on how best to fix this problem? Should I create a new money file, import all the data from the old money file and see if the downloads work? Should I delete the accounts that are not updating in the original money file and then try re-creating those accounts? Any other ideas? I would really hate to lose my historical data but I need to get this thing working again. I am using Money2006 Deluxe and my money file contains data back to roughly 2000 and is almost 23mb in size.  - Reconciled total I have been using Ace Money for some time and it has a feature that is quite useful. I actually balance my bank account every two or three days by going online and comparing the transactions that have cleared against the ones in my register. Ace Money would actually show what it called the "reconciled total" at the bottom of the register. This was would match the total from the register from my online bank register and would let me see in a glance if I had made a mistake. I found this very handy. I know you can download from Microsoft directly OR buy it via Amazon.com, but is there any brick & mortar physical store that is CURRENTLY selling it in the northeast? In the past couple of years COSTCO has had it available at the same time it was introduced, but it appears that THIS year Microsoft's marketing plan is to offer it first via the internet and online stores and then open it to stores like Best Buy, Staples, Cuircut City, etc. What are your experiences in your area?  - Unable to set up US Version of Money 2001 in UK I have moved to the UK and brought my set up files along with my personal files to set up on my new computer in order to reconcile all my credit cards and banks before I close the accounts (I'm Canadian but was apparently using a US version). Unfortunately, when I opened the file nothing looks normal. I have been unable to set it up on my UK computer. I have ordered the latest UK version which has not yet arrived but I wish to keep my old life separate from my new life and certainly don't want to be converting Canadian money into pounds. Can anyone help me? Is it possible that the important "setup" file is not useable here? I can't even find it in the same form that it was when I copied it onto my disc.  - Prompts come in two's? Ok another question. I recently installed Money 2006 Premium on my new computer. When I start the program I get two of the same prompt windows (an offer to upgrade to 2007). I close one and the same thing pops up again. The same thing happens when I close the program but with the option to back up prompt instead. I close one and another pops up.  - Money 2006: Why do I have to remove an entry, in order to make it balance? I posted a question related to this a while back. I entered an electronic payment via MSN Bill Pay on 7/13/2006. At the time that I did it, something went wrong. I don't know what, I don't know how and I don't know why; but something went wrong. I decided to wait until my bank sent me the monthly statement, to try and figure it out. I got my bank's monthly statement. I discovered that MS Money 2006 hadn't entered the amount for the MSN Bill Pay, so I entered it in for the amount of the bill, on 7/13/2006. Then I went through the rest of the balancing of my checking account in MS Money 2006. I didn't balance, however. I was off, exactly by the amount of the bill I tried to pay via MSN Bill Pay. I see on my bank's statement the amount paid by MSN Bill Pay on 7/13/2006. I also got onto the MSN Bill Pay website and saw the same thing there, for the amount. But it was NOT in my ledger for my checking account in MS Money 2006, which is why I entered it by hand. But I'm off by exactly that amount. So, if I remove the payment I entered by hand for the amount that I DID pay via MSN Bill Pay, then my account balances in MS Money 2006. Why is it that I have to remove a charge that did occur, that is supposed by my bank's monthly statement and MSN Bill Pay, in order to make MS Money 2006 balance? What's wrong with it?  - Money 2004 - Problem downloading from Fidelity I have multiple accounts at Fidelity (Brokerage, 401(k), IRAs, UTMA) in my and my spouse's name. My problem is that Money 2004 inexplicably stops downloading transactions from the Fidelity accounts. It will still update online quotes, and credit card transactions from Discover. The only way I can download Fidelity transactions is to go to the Online Service Manager and discontinue using the service, and then go back to setup service. This becomes a pain when you have to do it every two weeks and then you have to match each account in Money with the corresponding Fidelity account number. I use Zonealarm firewall and AVG antivirus on my Win XP PC. I have disabled these in the past to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Rick Tag: Software update issue Tag: 211692

 - Money 2007 Deluxe and Vista (Beta 2) After having significant problems trying to get Money 2006 to run properly in Vista, I decided to upgrade to 2007 yesterday. Now I can't get the install program to run. After a successful download, the installer fires off and imediately returns the message: "This program has been damaged, possibly by a bad sector of the hard drive or a virus. Please re-install it." I'm sure that the hard drive is fine and there isn't a virus. Any suggestions? I saw elsewhere a suggestion to try XP SP2 compatibility mode. That doesn't seem to work either. Thanks!  - Budget Question- Income disappears after i entered it I set up the Essential budget by entering my income and expense.  - Product ID in $2007 I was trying to contact support via Chat (a very helpful tool by the way)...and it would not accept the Product ID (aka Serial Number) that I entered from my registered version of $2007. I assumed this is because the PID validation tool has not yet been updated to reflect $2007, but nonetheless, I'm dead in the water until I can get it to recognize the PID.  - Best way to balance an OLD account? I have a couple accounts that have little activity (e.g. Savings)...so I tend to not pay close attention to 'balancing' them on a monthly basis (since they don't change that much). This has lead to my now forgetting to balance them at all when activity does occur. Net-net - I'm WAY out of balance - due primarily to TRANSFERs between accounts (and how I didn't know how to reconcile these in the past - which created duplicate entries - I've since figured this out - I think). So now, I'm trying to get these accounts current, but my statements don't go back far enough (this account is almost 10 years old) to allow me to sort through the erroneous entries. I want to just start over, but the account is tied to my bank. I've tried CLOSING the account and creating a new one, but with the old one is apparently connected to my bank, and therefore won't create/update.  - $2007 peformance By biggest issues with recent versions of Money deal with performance. I've read several posts that indicate deletion of recurring bills and deposits and reentering them "solves" this issue for many in $2007. With that in mind I download the trial version of $2007, tried navigating around and performance seemed to be the same as $2006. Then I deleted bills area (using utility provided) and I now see a significant increase in performance while the size of the file did not change (38MB). That brings me to my question. Is there any "technical" explanation as to why this "band aid" works? I can't believe that the existence of a small table of scheduled tasks (in my case 40) causes serious performance issues. Is this truly a "band aid" and the problem will again raise its ugly head in time? Or did MS actually fix a problem. If its truly a fix, why not fix my data upon installation of $2007 rather than making me delete and re-enter it?  - Money 2006: Recurring Mortgage Bill not matching Account Info For some odd reason...which I can't figure out...my recurring bill for my mortgage does not match what I've put in the Loan Information, despite me updating the Loan Information with the correct info. Is there any way to get the two to properly match outside of recreating the entire mortage account (which would really suck in this case, since it is my mortgage and there's a decent amount of payment history there)?  - I have a few questions about things in MS Money 2007 H&B ...??? First, on the business side of things, I've been creating some invoices and have been able to mark some paid (woohoo!) When I click to apply payment to an invoice there's an option in there to apply current credit to that payment with just a check box. The dollar amount is $0.00 and I can't change it. Where do I change this!? I had a perfect example where I had actually given some credit to the client and I needed to use this feature but I can't find where to actually create credits that can be applied here. Second, I'd like to track how much Income Tax I owe on my current sub-contracting income. I've created a liability account in Money and named it Income Tax. Is there a way I can have this account automatically update itself based on the invoices that I get paid for? For instance, I tell it what tax bracket (or percentage to tax my income) and add it here for each paid invoice. Is that possible, or do I have to add that into this account manually?  - Need Major Help with Money Small Business 2004! Okay, here are the following problems that I have: 1. I cannot figure out a way to create an asset depreciation account. 2. Budget: I cannot add business categories to budgets.  - Money 07 Deluxe Crashing Just installed Money Deluxe 2007 (upgrade from Money Deluxe 2003). Having issues syncing Money and MSN Money Central. Each time I select Tools > Settings > Receive account updates from MSN Money My Accounts > Next > Next, Money crashes. I see the window that says "Updating Account Info". The icon is moving, giving me the impression the update is in progress. I then get Windows error reporting pop-up.  - Money 2007 - Debt Reduction Planner I have setup credit card accounts and line of credit accounts. The minimum payments are not rounded to the nearest dollar. When you move these accounts into the Debt Reduction Planner they round the minimum payment up to the nearest dollar. At the end of the DRP it sets up your payments automatically. If it uses the minimum payment, it says that there is unassigned money. I know it behaved like this in 2005 also, so I assume 2006. Why does it round up? Tag: Software update issue Tag: 211623

 - Money 2007 - Cash Flow Forecast I set up my Budget using the new Savings and Spending Budget. When I run the cash flow forecast there is no option to use 'amounts from Savings and Spending Budget'. There is an option to use Advanced Budget, but it's disabled.  - Tracking stock options in Moey 2006 Deluxe Hi- I am at a loss as to why the "equity option" transactions don't show up once the positions are closed (either by "Expired" or by manually "Closing" them with price of 0). Even when my portfolio view is set to "Show CLosed positions", the equity option transactions never show up. Is there information somewhere that describes how best to track Equity Options in Money? I've installed Money 2007 H&B and my location is China.Then every time I
launched the program,it says something like "To operate correctly,click 'ok'
to let Money download the software update." But if I click 'OK',after it
download autoupdate.dll(.cab) and autoupdate.xml,it alarms "A software
update is already in progress.Please try again when the update is complete."
How can I solve the problem ?
