THis is most likely a really stupid question with an easy
answer. How do you set up a bank short term investment in
Money 2000? What type of investment would this be? There
are no shares etc. It is straight cash invested ie
$10,000 with a bank for 6 months at 8% (for example). We
then get the initial principal (10,000) back and interest
earned.
Any help would be appreciated. Online and manual have
been exhausted to no avail!

When you do Help->HelpTopics there should be an Ask Money box at the
bottom. Enter "cd" into the box. The item I named should show up as
one of the choices.

It should say
-----------------------------------------------------
Enter a Certificate of Deposit (CD)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although CDs are bought at banks, Money stores CDs?and all other
investments, such as stocks and bonds?in an Investment Account. You
can add your CD to an existing Investment Account, or create a new
one.

To add a CD to an existing Investment Account
1 At the top of the screen, click Investing, and then click
Portfolio.

2 In the left pane, click Add an investment. Click your existing
Investment Account.
3 When Money asks for the type of investment, click Certificate of
Deposit/U.S. Savings Bond. Follow the instructions.
To open a new account
1 At the top of the screen, click Investing, and then click
Portfolio.

2 In the left pane, click Add an investment.
3 Type in the name for your new account, and follow the
instructions.
4 When Money asks if you'd like to add investments to your account
now, click Yes.
5 When Money asks for the type of investment, click Certificate of
Deposit/U.S. Savings Bond. Follow the instructions.
When your CD is about to mature, you'll receive an Advisor FYI
message advising you about renewing your CD.

I quoted from the US Money 2000 Deluxe version. If you don't have
help working, reinstall Money from the Compact Disk.

you suggest doing a CD with my version?
