    - converting money 2000 to 2003? I was running money 2000 without a problem. I installed 2003 money and it comes up without my data. The shortcut to money 2000 disappeared--I found backup and was able to get to the data by clicking on backup restore so I know it is still there. How do I import my backup money 2000 into money 2003?     - Backup I have Money 2004 Standard Edition. My file is now 2 yrs old and has a lot of data. It now asks for a second flopy disk to save a backup. I would like to save to a CD or DVD and keep it updated with changes saved each time I close "Money" (just like it does when backing up to a flopy). I can't figure out how to save the file or "backup" the file to one of those media without the file closing. I thought maybe I needed to format a CD or DVD to keep the recording session open to backup to each time I use "Money". My computer has "Drag N Drop" CD/DVD burning software and I can't find a way to keep the session open for multi recordings or "backups".     - Money 2004 SB displays wrong balances Money 2004 SB shows my total accounts balance as 459 Trillion dollars (yes...trillion). When I look at the register for my checking, savings and accounts receivable they reflect accurate amounts. I don't know where the number is coming from. Any help would be appreciated.     - Balancing Savings Account I have Money 2004 and have been using money for years. Over the past several versions, I have noticed that when I go to balance a Savings account that earns interest, the system freezes on me if I enter the Interest amount in the Balance Wizard at the begining. I have to leave it blank then postpone the balance and when I start to balance again, it lets me put an interest amount in the wizard. What can I do to resolve this?     - Can you sub-categorize mutual funds? I want to customize my portfolio so that I can assign Large Cap Fund, or Small Cap Fund, or other sub-categories to mutual funds.     - Money 2000 causes 100% CPU Usage Running MS Money 2000 on a recent IBM ThinkPad with Windows 2000. When working in .mny file (size ~5MB), CPU usage frequently goes up to 100%, goes down occassionally, but is generally very high. Any browsing within .mny file, new entries, even mouse movements cause the CPU usage to shoot up. System behaves normally otherwise, is new and well-guarded (no infections, no ad-/spyware, etc.) Same behaviour also occurred on different, somewhat older ThinkPad.     - Online Password Problem Running Money 2004. When I connect to my accounts I reach the window which says "Enter Online Password". I enter my password & download the data. I do not check the box that says " Store password in Money". When I download again the password is already in the password box. The only way to clear it is to type in 9999 as an illegal password & connect. How can I insure that the password is not already in the password box?     - Password doesn't work I recently installed Microsoft Money 2003 on my laptop. I went through and did the prelimanaries of adding a few accounts, checking, savings, etc. Now when I open Money it asks me for a password. Is this my Microsoft .net password? I don't recall entering a password during setup. I did verify my .net password and it works for me to log into hotmail. Why doesn't it work to log into money?     - Money 2004 SB: Dimensions of logo on invoices I'm a graphic designer, and I've created a logo for my friend's business. He uses Microsoft Money 2004 Small Business. I don't have access to the program and he can't find information that tells him or me what the pixel dimensions should be for his company's logo. He is using one of the pre-set templates. I've sent him one logo file (.JPG) that was 400 pixels wide by 44 pixels tall, and Money squished the logo horizontally.     - Money 2004 desktop and Pocket PC discrepency I have been using MS Money for Pocket PC and it has been working great until recently. There is a discrepancy between my desktop and my Pocket PC for the balances of two accounts. The differences are both equal to the amounts of two transactions in the account register. I entered them separately, but they showed up as part of the same transaction in the electonic statement (one was a deposit and the other was a transfer from check to a cash account). The desktop version of Money let me match the two transactions to the same electronic transaction. Money for the Pocket PC seems confused by this and seems to count both transactions twice. I just signed up for Bank One Online Bill Pay, after hearing that a recent service upgrade allowed much tighter integration with MS Money and other finance softwares. However, when I try to set up my account for making an electronic payment and get the set up online provider screen, I am met with only two choices: MSN Bill Pay or CheckFree (existing customers only). Does anyone know how I can use Bank One's online bill payment with MS Money? Preferably, I'd like to be able to receive the e-bills and other features.     - Bank One: one more aspect of the Exciting Changes Hello: just learned about this. The new exciting online payment system made impossible sending epay to a payee who already has another pending online payment. Which means, for instance, that it's impossible to send an extra principal mortgage payment if the regular payment is scheduled as Apay. The new exciting system helpfully advises to cancel all pending payments before processing the new one. Nice job, Bank One.     - Download Transaction Do Not download Money 2004 for 6 mos, a user since 10 yrs on other versions., good software, download all banking 3 different banks over this time, all of a sudden cannot download, see the download dialog box flick, but nothing. Even though it says the transactions have downloaded, I don't see any transactions past April 30. I have cleared out my temporary internet files and started money with the '-s' parameter.     - Money launch Can anyone tell me what is ocurring when Money 2003 launches? I've noticed (per my desktop cpu meter) that upon launching money, 100% of the cpu is being used for about 30-45 seconds after signing in and home page displays. My concern with this, is on more than one ocasion, if I submit a bill for on line payment before the cpu percentage drops to less than 5%, the program freezes after the confirmation displays and my only exit option is via task manager. I haven't a clue what the program could be doing since don't use passport, or any of the other resource hogging features, such as feedback and money express et al.     - infinite loop "File Download" on launch Since Sunday, every time I launch Money 2004 Deluxe, an infinite loop starts: a "File Download" dialog briefly appears, disappears, focus switches to a browser window but loads nothing; then back to the File Download dialog, etc ad nauseum. I'm fully patched via Windows Updates, and Norton AntiVirus reports nothing. I'm on Win2K Pro with latest service pack. Anyone know what is going on?? I'm about ready to just switch to Quicken.     - Auto categorise Hi all, I have just started using MS money for the first time, and im stuck with something. I can download and import statements from my bank and that seems to be working fine. What i want though is for money to auto recognise entries. For example i assigned expednse in a particular supermarket as groceries. I thought that in every instance of that supermarket in my statement it would automatically be seen as 'groceries' category, but this doesnt seem to happen, i have to manually add the category each time a transaction occurs with that store. Likewise, when i add a monthly transaction as a bill, it doesnt recognise further instances of that payment. So i get lots of messages saying all my bills are overdue as the program doesnt seem to reconise the same bill payed one month later.     - Total price incorrect I created an investment account and entered three investments: A, B, and C. When I entered the number of shares purchased and the price per share, the total cost for "C" is only 1% of what it should be (100 shares X $5 per share = $5.00 total, instead of $500).     - Home Balance off by $750+ trillion My balances are off by over 750 Trillion (yes, trillion) on my home, account balances and budgeting/cash flow pages. However, they are correct in the register. Correct starting balances, correct ending balances. This happened after getting a new computer, changing from Win200Pro to XP. Both computers used Money 2003 Deluxe. I've uninstalled/reintalled money, restored my back-up serveral times, and this is still happening (even to my previous years archives). I ran the money update. I tried a number of procedures including the file salvage (a couple of times, thinking it would eventually work...which it didnt), and then downloaded the supersalvage. That did recover the file, but when I open the file I saved it as..I now have the billion/trillion dollar balance syndrome that is referred to in the post you referred me to. Next questions/scenrio Its weird, because when you open the accounts in that file, it has all the current balances and information from my file when I last used it yesterday before all this mess started. What will happen if I save this new billion/trillion file on the one I am trying to fix? I wont do that unless you think it might be okay. My other file, which has business accounts, is all okay. This file has my personal accounts. The good news is that I parallel msmoney with quicken. And all the while I've done this people thought I was a little anal. Up to now, I use the 'Deposit" tab, and enter the amount and call it "Interest" but it seems to me that there should be a drop down menu that lists "interest or dividend" like in the investment accounts so the program can calculate earnings. Right now I do it a year by year which is not very efficient.     - APAY transaction problems I have a question I have a APAY transaction that happens monthly but the problem is that it started out working correctly every month it would pay then move to the next month. All of a sudden about 6 months ago it started skipping months and now it has gotten even worse. It now says the next payment is Feb 2005. Of course it will pay in May and will then change the next payment date again. It is now jumping ahead like 4 to 6 months every month.     - Direct statements for retirement account don't seem to update properly Hi, When I manually update my retirement account from Fidelity by downloading a QIF statement and importing it, it works fine. However, if I do a direct update, the individual transactions do not appear. I just see lump sum adjustments in the cash account.     - problems with duplicate entries i'm having trouble with duplicate entries in MS money 2004, i've been a money user for few years now. the problem arises in my chequing account when i notice that something that is autoposted by "bills and accounts" is coming up twice. i see the entry in my chequing register - i look below and see red for the item is over budget...when i click on the entry it is coming up with the same date and time, twice! when i click on the details...one entry is regular (i.e. with black text) and the other item has greyed out entries for the account (comes up as chequing) and the amount (comes up as the same)... i can't see to delete this duplicate entry and i'm noticing that duplicate entries are coming up each month now. help!     - incorrect duplicate entries Hello, I'm currently experiencing difficulty with duplicate entries in MS Money 2004. I've used MS Money for several years now. The problem seems to be this - i have bills entries in the Bills and Deposits area, when it's time to pay a bill i go there and enter into my cheque register the amount. For some registry entries i'm seeing that i'm overspent (!!) so when i click on the details of this overspending... i see that my single entry bill is listed TWICE! when i click on the details for each one... one of them i find all correct...and the duplicate one has the entries all greyed out. Set the balloon amount to be equal to the value of the loan (and leave the
interest rate blank). This will calculate interest only.
