Can anyone tell me how to setup automatic monthly payments where the first
payment is different to the rest?

For instance, 9 monthly payments of $100.00 but the first one to be $101.56.

Thanks

Dave

Set up a single payment of $101.56 and then 8 payments starting one month
later of $100.00 - you might need to make the payee name slightly different.

Dave,

Assuming your 9-payment cycle re-occurs yearly, the one odd payment is
easy since it is just a transaction with a yearly frequency. As for
the other 8, you'd have to set up a monthly frequency ending in 8
months and re-enter yearly. Of course, you could pre-stage a batch of
these 8-month cycles, but how far does one go with this?

You called these "direct debits". Is it possible these payments are
setup external to Money and will occur regardless of your recurring
bill (i.e. not an a-pay)? If this is the case, you could setup a
monthly frequency of $75 payments if you wanted to keep your budget and
cash flow relevant OR monthly $100 payments otherwise. In either case,
you'd have to "skip" three transactions a year.
Hope this helps!

Regards,
JB

Thanks to Bob and JB.
It is a work around. I thought there might have been something similar to
the Quicken program that lets you split debits where the first payment is
irregular.
As it's only for record I could do as you suggest and make one payment then
follow that with 8 others to a slightly different name. May be this
shortcoming in Money 2004 is addressed in Money 2005?

Dave

Nope! Same in M2005. I guess MS don't see it as a shortcoming! ;-)
