    - Money Plus - Transaction cannot be entered I recently converted from Money 2005 to Money Plus (2008). The conversion went fine and everything was working as expected, for a while. All of a sudden I started to get the dreaded "This transaction cannot be entered" message. I did a Level 2 repair, but I still get the messages every so often. The weird part I discovered is that if I just click "Okay" and then hit "Enter", the transaction goes into the register. I don't have to re-type anything, I don't have to start a new transaction, I don't have to do any kind of repair. Any thoughts as to what is going on? Suggestions for what I should try?     - MONEY Plus Cannot update Charles Schwab Brokerage Transactions Have not been able to update my Charles Schwab transactions for the last 12 hours. Spoke to MS Money support and to Schwab support. Tried some "fixes" but in the end, MONEY Plus still not completing the Schwab account transactions only. Anyone else experiencing this?     - cannot update one account, cant find the problem One of my accounts has not been able to update for a few days. Never had problem before. I use Money 2007 Deluxe. Error message: "Money unable to establish a secure connection to the server due to a prolem with the security components on your computer. Error often caused by older version of strong encryption." The link offered to fix this sadly turns up a "page cant be found" message. (microsoft.com/money/security) Updates shows no needed updates, clock is synchronized, password is correct.     - Download Transactions from Scottrade I just started using Scottrade and I am having problems with downloading transactions. It seems that the position downloads fine but the actual transaction will not download. For example if I buy 100 share of abc whenI do an update, no transactions will download but it shows "1 position" in the review column and when I look at the positions it will show all of the stock in the account including ABC but it will then say the money file shows 0 shares and Scott shows 100 shares do you want to update your account. If I say yes it add the share (does not include commission or a cost basis). Anyone else using Scottrade? I would appreciate it if you would let me know if everything is working fine with downloads or you are having problems. I have done repairs and deleted my temp files already. If I start a brand new account it works fine for all the transactions but when I have another transaction the next day, it gives me the same problem.     - charging interest on AR accounts I'm working in Money 2006 Small Business for a small used car lot -- we carry the loans for the cars we sell. I need to find a way to set everthing up so that when a customer purchases a car, Money will figure the loan, charge the interest, track the payments, remind when a payment is over-due, etc. I tried to do so under "Business", set up Accounts Receivable and created in invoice for a customer.     - MONEY + not at retail With the holidays approaching it looks like Microsoft has decided NOT to offer Money Plus at the regular retail outlets. Here in Connecticut it still is not at Costco while Quicken 2008 has been offered for over a month now. I will stay with Money 2007 until I can get the program at reasonable cost and with the disk.     - Money Plus: Updates transactions over and over again I've recently upgraded to Money Plus. Some transactions update each time an update is preformed. Transactions from a month ago update every day and need to be matched up with previous entry each time. Also, there is some transactions that do not have the correct dollar amount. For example, one transactions was for lunch. My bank statement shows the correct Dollar amount but the amount downloaded each time is only for the meal and does not include the amount of the tip (used my debit card to pay for). This transaction is nearly a month old and it downloads everyday with the incorrect amount. There are others that the amount updated each day is for only $1.00 even thou the amount is more.     - Bill not showing in summary In Money 2006, a monthly bill wasn't showing in the Bill Summary when I knew it was the date. I was surprised, but I entered it as a new monthly bill. Then on the home page, the payee showed twice. After I paid it on the bill that was showing, the original bill shows on the home page as overdue but doesn't show on the summary. Any help? Thanks.     - Money Plus does not download new transactions I've been having this problem in which I click to update transactions and Money Plus does so, giving no error, updates the balance correcly, says "Transactions to be read: nn" stating the correct number of new transactions since last synchronization (as checked from the bank web statement), but the new transactions do no show in the account registry. You can click on the message "Transactions to be read: nn" or go to the account list and all you see is the old transactions, with an updated balance. The same transactions appear cleared at the bank website. This happens with both my checking account at Wachovia and my credit cards at other institutions... Only the first synchronization upon installation seems to work, all subsequent fail to show the new transactions. I even went onto the bank website and downloaded the .OFX file, opened with notepad and I can see the new transactions in there, but if I import it, it says 'import successful' and 'new transactions to review' but the transactions do not appear. Same behavior as in automatic synchronization. This is the reason I did not purchase Money 2006 when I evaluated it last year. When you download transactions from your financial institution do you have to edit it them? The check numbers don't come over right and neither does the payee. 2.     - money 2007 will not let me signin and says I am offline when onlin I had the trail version of Money Plus, but bought 2007 Money home and Business. I unistalled money Plus and now I am trying to log in to H & B version. I start the set up but it will not let me login stating that it can not verify my password and login do to being offline although I am online.     - Downloading Credit Card Statements Although I am a new subscriber to this newsgroup, I have used Money for many years. I have Windows XP Pro and Money 2007 Premium. Each month, I pay my credit card statement with a check. I can download my credit card statement from my credit union in .qif format, showing each transaction. I would like to be able to then use the downloaded information to assign each transaction a category and sub-category, all under the check that I wrote. Is there a procedure or FAQ that would detail the steps to accomplish this? I think it should include deleting the payment transaction and somehow modifying any credit transactions.     - Credit Card updates I have 2 credit card accounts in MS Money 2007 that are not setup for online updates, yet every time I restart Money it creates another account and tells me that I have duplicate accounts.     - Money Keeps Running Money 2007 and Windows XP Pro This has been reported here before. I'm wondering if there is any fix (other than to go get a cup of coffee while Money does its backup and closes). If I close Money and create a backup, and If I change focus to another program/window while Money is doing the backup, then although Money closes on screen, the money process remains (visible in the task manager).     - Upgrade from 2005 I have been using Microsoft Money for several years (about 10). I am currently using 2005. However, I cannot upgrade to the newest version - Money Plus. I receive an error while converting my file. I have tried the Money Repair tool before upgrading and it says my money file is fine. I have traced (I believe) the problem down to a single account. When I open this account, I get the message: Your Account List reflects an incorrect balance because of a minor technical problem with the way Money stores your information. You can see the correct balance in your account register. This issue does not affect your actual account data. Money will automatically try to fix the inconsistency the next time you open Money. For more information, go to Customer Support. BTW - I have moved EVERY transaction from this account into another account. My account register shows $0.00, but my Account list shows $607.52. There are NO transactions in the account register. If I export this account to .qif... sure enough there is a transaction there for $607.52. I cannot delete this account. If I try, I get: This operation cannot be performed. I am stuck in the water. I can't keep using 2005 because it won't let me use online services. I can't upgrade to 2008 because it won't let me. Please help! I have several years worth of data that I really can't re-create by exporting my accounts to .qif and re-importing them.     - Issues with upgrade from Money 2006 to Money Plus I have been working satisfactorily with Money 2006 until I was forced by Microsoft to upgrade to Money Plus. This works fine except for two issues: 1. Every time I start Money Plus I get a message that a program update needs to be installed. If I click OK Money is stopped and it looks as if updates are being downloaded. However this ends with the message that the update is already running. This is not a real problem as I can work by clicking cancel. However I do not know which update I am now missing. 2. Importing bank statements in the form of ofx files always went fine in Money 2006, but no longer works with Money Plus which states that the file is corrupt. I am able to use Money Plus just fine for now, but received NO email confirmation and therefore NO activation code.     - My MNY file appears to be corrupt. How best to proceed? [I *do* have a couple of questions; please bear with me as I get to the point...] The last time I reconciled my Money 2007 checking account to my paper statement (about four months ago), it reconciled fine. Now I'm attempting to reconcile the next and following month's statements. When I entered the starting and ending balances on the reconcile dialog box, however, an error appeared that said: "Starting Balance Discrepancy. Money has calculated a different starting balance than the one you entered. To balance your account start with your oldest unreconciled transaction and match each transaction in your account register with the bank statements. Then, mark those transactions as reconciled in your account register. You can always make an adjustment in your account register later if you need to." After I acknowledged that message, Money (2007) locked up on me. After waiting over an hour, I finally killed the process. Now the same thing keeps happening every time I try to reconcile that account. Even *without* attempting a reconcile, if I go the account register and change any transaction from reconciled to unreconciled, Money makes the change, but then freezes up hard a few seconds later. I tried a few backups, but they all manifest the same problem--so whatever happened to my MNY file must have happened some time ago. A Money online chat support had me try a quick/standard/quick repair, but it did not resolve the problem. The support person suggested that I perform the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/178830/en-us (How to export and import account information in Microsoft Money). What is the best way to try to resolve this problem? I've since re-opened my closed accounts, exported all of my accounts to QIF files, and created a new MNY file to import the QIF files into. I'm being prompted/encouraged to associate the MNY file with my Windows Live ID. I did not do that with my existing MNY file; should I do it now? What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages? I recall a thread here a few months back that indicated that those that *did* associate their MNY file with their Windows Live ID would need to go through a one-time process so that (I think) downloads would start working again.     - Background Banking Continually Fails on Vista Folks, I've installed Money Plus as an upgrade to Money 2007. I get a continual failure after any update activity where Microsoft Background Banking has stopped working. I'm not even sure what this is breaking, but it's a new error and I've found no documentation at all on what may be causing it.     - Download Transactions without Auto E-Clear I wanted to be able to import transactions from my OCR software, but have discovered the only option now is to download statements on import. This automatically electronically clears the transaction, so I can't match it up when I download from my bank account. Is there a way to turn off the electronic clear option? I hate it anyhow. Can you provide a snapshot view of it please? It is money - home and
business 08 and I just cannot see the option! Can see the combine
option though!

Also, are the various 08 files interchangable with each other i.e.
between deluxe and the basic version say.
