    - Investment summary still shows closed accounts I know this has been addressed before, and I think I've tried the fixes to no avail, but I'd like to try again. I've searched the database and can't find anything on this anymore. I have accounts that are closed and should have zero balances, but they have infinitessimal fractions of shares lurking and I can't seem to get rid of them with "Remove shares," etc. I'm using Money 2006, but I had this problem even with an older version.     - Converting Vanguard mutual fund shares from Investor to Admiral shares Hello, I have a question about how to enter this particular mutual fund activity in Money. Here is the scenario: - I have Vanguard 500 Index Investor mutual fund shares that I am converting to Vanguard 500 Index Admiral mutual fund shares. - Vanguard treats this transaction as an "exchange" from Investor shares to Admiral shares. There is no buy or sell. - The ticker symbol for Admiral shares is different from Investor shares. - The share price is a few cents different between the two types of shares. My question is: - What's the best way to enter this conversion from Investor shares to Admiral shares in MS Money? (I would like to retain my cost basis information when the shares are converted to Admiral shares. I'm concerned if I do a "sell" of the Investor shares and a "buy" of Admiral shares I will lose the cost basis and dividend/capital gains history in the process.)     - Installation Question I just downloaded the 60 day trial version of Money 2007. The installation went fine and I restarted my computer. However, when at the "Sign In" screen I put my WINDOWS LIVE ID name and password and I get the message back "You must be connected to the internet to sign in online" but I am online with other web browsers just fine and my wireless network is working great.     - Doomed to duplicates? Money is getting to be beyond useless. I opened two new citibank accounts and all I wanted to do was add them, and the internet login information, to money 2006. First of all, it appears to be IMPOSSIBLE to do this without using MSN's service, which I don't really want to do. I might be able to live with that, however, in doing its little synchronization, money duplicates hundreds of transactions across half a dozen accounts, rendering my file completely useless. I have restored from a backup and tried to get around this problem at least a dozen times, to no avail. Anyone have any ideas how I might avoid this?     - Payee uniqueness I have recurring transactions that are automatic transfers from one account into three others. The transaction information from my back is unique in the 34th and 35th characters of the transaction ID for these three transactions. It appears that Money is only displaying and considering up to the 32nd character. Can I increase the field size? Is there another way for Money to correctly identify these transactions?     - SEP IRA / Keogh Questions SEP IRA / Keogh Questions My friend is in a strange situation.. She has a old SEP IRA plan at Fidelity with a some dollars which she has not contributed to in years. Then she opened a Keogh QRP prof Sharing plan at Schwab a few years ago. Now she wants to contribute to her QRP Prof Sharing...but this time at Vanguard in their index funds She doesn't want to buy the vanguard funds at Schwab because of the transaction fees which could be quite a bit over the years if one trades even every 6 months and contibutes small amounts often. Schwab says their basic adoption plan isn't portable in other words my friend cannot contribute to a vanguard Keogh QRP Profit sharing account using Schawb's plan. Dos any one have any ideas how this can be done. Can she keep the QRP Keogh Profit sharing plan ( at Schwab) dormant for a year or more ? In other words can she not contribute to the QRP Prof Sharing plan this year and instead contribute to a new Vanguard SEP IRA plan ? ( even though she already has an old SEP IRA account at Fidelity)? This way she will not have to deal with the QRP Plan issue. Any pros and cons to such an action ?     - Sharing Money file with Windows Live ID I'm working in a small office environment where we'd like to set up Money for sharing a single data file; BUT I am leary of using Windows Live ID for the sharing setup, simply because I don't want to have any chance of outside (internet) "leaking" of info. Is there any alternate way to share a single data file among 2-3 users?     - Re-mortgage I have been using a loan account to track my mortgage payments. Recently I have re-mortgaged with another provider for a higher amount and I've set another loan account up. I want to be transfer the money into the old account to close it off and transfer the balance into the current account. Money doesn't seem to want to transfer money between loans. So how do I show that the loan is closed and principle paid off? I tried creating a catagory but then money reports a massive outgoing aganist it distorting all the reporting.     - Negative balance error message when trying to add a buy transactio I have an account with 4 funds in it. I went to add 4 buy transactions for end of August (same process I have been using for the past few yeas) for each of the funds. With one of the funds only, (that has over 2000 units in it already), I try adding the buy transaction for 6 units and I get an error message "Adding the sell, remove or redeem shares activity will cause the balance of "account name" held in this investment account to become negative at some point. Please cancel this activity. Why am I getting a sell type error when I am trying to increase the shares via a buy? No problem on the other 3 funds, just this one. Any ideas? I currently have to logon to my banks website and go into their BillPay service and enter the bills, and then download the entries into MS Money.     - MSN BillPay and Money 2007 Has anyone had any experience with setting up MSN BillPay in Microsoft Money 2007? From Managing Online Services within Money 2007 I signed up for MSN BillPay and have my user name and password to make payments but limited to using the MSN Web Site. When I try to enter this info in Money 2007 to activate MSN billpay online services I get a message saying that I must have "special sign-in information" other than the web based user name/password and points me back to the MSN Web Site for the needed info. My problem is that I cannot find any mention of this special sign-in on any of the MSN Web pages. I called the toll free number at MSN bill pay several times before getting a real person only to find out that no one really knew what I was talking about. Any help would be appreciated.     - FYI Investment alerts. Money 2007 Deluxe - Trial Version. I'm sure there is an obvious answer to this that I am missing, but it isn't obvious to me. I have set up fyi investment alerts for my securities to show up on my home page. To test it, I set an upper limit of a stock for $60 and updated my stock prices. The stock was about $65 so an advisory message appeared. I also got a message saying that another security hadn't had a price update recently. I set a new upper limit for the first stock to $70 and put in today's price for the second investment (manually, no online quote for it). I then updated my prices again online.     - Money 2007 - Where is the memo field? I downloaded the trial for Money 2007 Essentials. I used Money 2002 for a long time and I plan on purchasing 2007. However, I cannot find any memo field for entering transactions. I cannot believe they would have taken out the ability to write a memo about each transaction you enter. It seems so necessary.     - Net worth over time report is blank Upgraded from 2002 to 2007 and this report no longer works. It will show the date range I specify but with no data. The Net Worth report (no graph) works for both past and present dates, but not the Over Time graph I already reset the report settings and deleted all my favorites.     - Banks Droping Money Direct Connect Feature I have had a couple of banks that I have done business with stop supporting the direct bill pay from within Microsoft Money. In looking for a bank to support this feature I have had at least one (Wachovia) say they do offer that feature but are now no longer signing up new customers for that service. As you all know it is a waste of time to enter the bills on a web site and then do it again in MS Money. Who still offers this service (I am in Texas and prefer a local bank but am willing to do something online if that is what it takes).     - Portfolio Manager won't show daily change of value for mutual funds I am still using Money Premium 2006. I would like to know if the following problem (feature?) is observed by other folks, either in M2006 or M2007. The Portfolio Manager has columns "Change" and "TotChng." The former is the change in price, per share, of a security for one day. The latter is, roughly speaking, "Change" multiplied by the number of shares held. I don't remember which of these columns is visible by default. I have chosen to view create of these columns in the "custom" view of my Portfolio Manager. My problem is that for mutual funds, the value reported in the "TotChng" column is always blank. Not zero, just a blank space.     - Re-creating loan payments after "nuking-the-bills" Hi, I've read many threads about this "nuke-the-bills" process, and since I suffered poor performance issues since several versions ago, I decided to give it a try. I used M2007 trial version, and performance has increased considerably!! Start up time is much shorter, and normal operations run also faster. But I have an issue... The lifetime planner section is duplicating the loan payments. I could not find the way to re-create the loan payment bills, so I created them as new bills. When I did, and I set the category as "loan payment : xxx act", it recognized it very nicely! Number of remaining payments, split of principal + interests showing as "calculated values"... it looked too good to be true! Well, it seems that those bills are now part of my "living expenses" in the lifetime planner, although they are also included in the loans&debt section. I am letting the lifetime planner to get the living expenses from my budget, and I would like to leave it like that. I wonder if it is so because of the way I re-created the loan payments...     - How do I change my business name in Money 2007? I installed Money 2007 and initially put in a business name that I'm trying to change now. I click on Business, and I go to Account settings and I change the name there. This changes it everywhere except for on the invoices that I print.     - Money 2007: Online Updates I have recently switched from Money 2005 UK to 2007 US. Glyn Simpson pointed me to a solution to a planner problem, and since then all has been well. However, (a) last week my Passport/Windows Live userid/password stopped working for a few hours (but worked fine on MSN, Hotmail, etc.) and then (b) online updates of prices and exchange rates stopped working. The Passport problem has disappeared, but the prices/exchange rate problem remains. However, I am able to successfully update my US bank accounts and the MSN Money My Account updates are also working. The message for Quotes, News, and Exchange Rates simply says that I am unable to connect to the quotes server. Using that server via the Excel MSN Money Quotes Add-In works fine. Any hints?     - PING: Dick Watson Dick, I use M04 and direct download statements from 2 banks with five accounts and 1 broker with two accounts into my M04 accounts. All works well. I do not use a Passport and I'm happy with this procedure. After reading reviews on M07 I'm not clear on whether I will still be able to direct download my accounts into M07 unless I use the "Windows Live" (formerly Passport) procedure.     - Can't balance with missing check numbers I've been using MS Money 2003 for a long time now and this is about the first glitch I've ever seen. I'm trying to balance my checking account and I have a gap between checks 300 and 351 where I discarded a pack of checks my bank sent me because they had the wrong info on them. Would this cause Money to refuse to go further when I click the Next button to take me to my reconcilation page? After I've entered the beginning and ending balance for the period and then click Next, it just won't do anything. Do I have to list 49 checks, all saying *VOID* to make it work? I recently upgraded to 2007, and noticed that all of my on-line bill payments
are showing the date as the "Processing Date". I verified in the global
settings for "Online service settings" that the option "Enter electronic
payments in the register with the processing date" is unchecked.

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? Sounds like a bug.

I believe it's a global change and that the option is no longer effective.
