    - Can not Download Transactions I have Money 2005, and just the last couple of days when I try to download my transactions manually, it will say import complete but it will not update my transactions or balance. I have read alot of posts on this forum and noticed alot of people are having problems when downloading transaction automatically, but not manually.     - Assigning categories to payees MSM05: I've downloaded oodles of transaction from my bank and am in the process of assigning categories to each transactions. Besides it being a blooming bore, is there a way to assign a category to a payee once and then have all identical or similar payees receive the same category assignment?     - msmoney 2005 Unable to initialize a required Money component. Please reinstall Money from your original product disks. msmoney 2005 this is what I get, I try to reinstall and it says it cannot install some of the files to run I should reboot and reinstall, I get this each time.     - CD help in Money 2005 Hey guys, here's m problem.... I have 2 CDs through the same financial institution as I have savings account. When i update the savings account, it automaticall adds 2 other accounts for the CDs and says they are for $1000 each. After I setup an investment account with the two CDs as investment in it, Money shows my total account balance as beeing $2000 more tha it actually is. I cannot delete the CD accounts it has as Ban accounts because when I do, it also deletes the savings account.     - Money keeps disappearing from my computer As crazy as this sounds, on Saturday I woke up and went my computer and Money 2005 was gone completely from my computer. No desktop Icon, nothing in the start menu. I went to Program Files, I have directories on my commuter for "Microsoft Money" (2002) "Microsoft Money 2004", "Microsoft Money 2005", and "Microsoft Money 2006". 2006????? I don't even know where that came from. Anyway, there is hardly anything in these directories, except the 2002 version. The others are either totally empty or nearly empty. There was nothing in the recycle bin either. So first, I panic and accuse my wife of deleting it. Then I did a system restore to 3 days ago, and thankful, it returned. I'm happy, thinking all is good. Now today, I come home from work, and it's completely gone again. Not a trace, unless I'm looking in the wrong directory. My 2005 folder has six files in it, and none are an EXE file. Two LOG, two BAK, one TXT, and one Sample.MNY. I'm totally baffled. This however has coincided with MSN "money" doing an upgrade of their on-line service, which requires a download of their new online software. I use MSN "Money" extensively, and it is ... I mean was ... linked to my Money 2005 software, particularly for tracking stock portfolios. Each time it's vanished has followed a download of this new MSN software (I had to redownload the software after my "system restore" on Saturday. Anyone else having problems? Any know issues here? Another bit of info you might find helpful is that I upgraded from 2002 to 2005 through the online download offered by Microsoft, so I do not own the disk. Thanks.     - xxx@hotmail.com Password Rejected on One Computer, Not Other I have MS Money on two machines, exact same copy of 2004 Business Edition. Machine 1 is a backup of Machine 2. Each incident contains 2 separate accounts, one business, one personal. Suddenly, on machine number 2, I can no longer log in to my personal account via my *hotmail.com account. On machine 1 it works fine, but machine 2 it rejects my login stating that the password is invalid. I logged in to the hotmail account with the password via IE on machine 2 just fine (sanity check). I then restored the .mny file on machine 2 with a different *mny name from machine 1. Same problem. So where might I find a solution to this? I really enjoy the MS interface deliveries and primarily use machine 2 as my billing machine. Has anyone remedied this before?     - Recording 457 plans in Money Anyone have an idea how I should characterize a 457 plan in Money 2005? Do you use the 401K feature or is there a better way. Lastly, how do you take care of "units" of a stock or mutual funds? My statement does not indicate shares of stock/MF specifically...it only lists units at such a cost which doesn't mirror the actually cost per share of a stock or mutual fund...thanks.     - money 2005 I am having problem with download received by money 2005 from a bank of mine. If I use quicken format It will complain form data format does not match the format on money file. If I use money 2005 format available form the bank, it says it cant load (...eh I forgot the exact wording) . It turns out if I save the file instead of opening the money 2005 format download, the bank sends me a .ofc file that look very much .ofx file to me I am having troubles with setting the format of money 2005 because I have 3 financial institutions using different settings and My pc has been set to using yyyy.mm.dd format as most of my work demands that. Further complicates the problem, one of the credit card issuer and two accounts with a bank are similar ( eg. abc bank and abc mc) with different website.. I tried treating them as separate institutions and actually sign on manually to abc mc to download instead. The only way I could get it work is saving the quicken format download and use script to transform the date before import. I have done that for the earliest statement before it becomes unavailable in next few days downloading and sing script was quite an annoyance. Is there a better way?     - Deleting Payees? Do any of you delete your payees in your money file? I exported the "Transactions by Payee" report to Excel and determined that I have nearly 1300 unique payees, many of which are of the form: BKOFAMERICA ATM #23236538 BKOFAMERICA ATM #43882303 I can go into Categories & Payees and move all of these into a single "Bkofamerica Atm" payee, but I can only do this one by one. The reason that I ask is that occasionally, I need to search for something by payee name and the list of payees is extraordinarily long. How do all of you deal with this? Ignore it? Delete them?     - Recurring Categories Hi there, Have a question about one thing in Money that's driving me nuts. I shop mostly in the same places every month and when I get my statements into Microsoft Money I have to assign categories to the vendors anew. To give you an example: Sheetz Inc shows up on my Amex as Unassigned every month. So every time I update Amex account I have to go and find all the Sheetz Inc and change them from Unassigned to Automotive. Is there a way to "train" money to do this automatically?     - Money 2005 Premium will not launch The msmoney.exe process can be seen in Task Manager, but Money never comes up. I have uninstalled, removed the folder from Program Files, removed the registry entries in HKCU and HKLM, removed the folder from Local Settins\Application Data... tried it in safe mode... and I still cannot get it to launch.     - Mid Cap Mutual Fund shows up as Large Cap in Asset Allocation Repo I have a mid cap mutual fund that shows up as a large cap on the asset allocation report. I modified the automatically downloaded asset allocation and made the mutual fund 100% mid cap; however, when I create an asset allocation report, the fund continues to appear as a large cap mutual fund.     - Money 2005 Will Not Update or Run This sounds so close to several other I've seen posted but here goes... After installing MSB 2005, I receive a message everytime I attempt to run the software that an update is available and is being downloaded and installed. It looks like the machine has hung until you hide the first screen and see the ominous meassage: "We were not able to complete the Money udpate". Please make sure you have at least 100MB of free hard disk space to perfomr this update. Then restart money to retry this wizard." I have 75GB on one drive and 58GB one another; I have MB to 4MB of virtual storage; I am the system adminastrator; I have NAV turned off; I have Stopzilla turned off; I have uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times.     - budget question I am trying to get my budget setup correctly and am having some difficulty. I have Money Standard 2005 and when I setup the budget there is a line in the income for transfers into budget accounts. The only line item I have there is for a transfer that I setup from my checking account to pay off a credit card balance each month. I don't see how this could be considered income. And I don't see how to remove this from the income line. I need to have the credit card in my budget account so that I can track the expenses from the credit card use.     - GB-based mutual funds in USD I'm trying to track my mutual funds in Money 2005 but most of them are based in a currency different from their country. I can find the symbol using the "Find Symbol" button, for example in Great Britain, but that changes the Country/Region to Great Britain and displays a dialog that says, "Changing the country/region associated with this investment will also change the currency associated with its price history. Are you sure you want to change the country/region for this investment?" But the fund is USD-based, and the prices Money downloads for it are the USD prices - but it records them as Pounds Sterling! Has anyone else found a way to get around this crazy assumption that Money makes that a mutual fund must be in the same currency as its country?     - Stock split problems... Hi I have Money 2005 Standard. I have a stock that recently split. So I went into it and recorded the 2 for 1 split. After recording the split, I noticed that my number of shares did not just double, but they quadrupled. Instead of showing a 2 for 1 split it showed a 4 for 1 split. I am trying to get this corrected. I don't see any way to remove a split from within the account. Does anyone know how to remove a stock spit that had been added? Around the first of the year, I archive my Money 2003 file and it messed up my checking account to the point where I have to change the starting balance when I reconcile. It seems that Money archived all transactions older than 1/1/2005, regardless of whether they were reconciled yet or not! I could complain about that forever it ticks me off so much. I manually added back the transactions that were still outstanding and if I fudge the starting balance each month, I am able to reconcile as long as I take the "ignore differences" option when I am balanced by my reckoning. My question is can I ever get the starting balance fixed without mucking up my actual balance in my checking account, or will I have to start a whole new file? The date and time on my computer and in Micrsoft Monay are both correct, however the date and time it gives me when I update new information from my bank is two days ahead of the current date.     - Posted before, but thread got old before question was anwsered fully I have found with my Money file that sometimes there are entries that I even though I accept them, then do not reduce from the 3x size to the 1x size. (3x as tall as accepted transactions). I believe that the transactions are all transfers from another account i.e. part of paycheck, deposited into checking account, then a portion is 'transferred into the savings account and the savings account has the problem. We can click accept, but the transaction still remains 3x size, but the system doesn't seem to list it as a transaction that hasn't been accepted. I have tried both repair methods that I could find on the net (money.exe -s and I believe I tried the super savage repair tool). Is there something the matter, and what can I do to fix the problem? I am using Money 2003 and have been using money since money 99 (I think). Any help would be appreciated. Additionally, here is information that was asked for, or suggestions that were tried from the group. Suggestion: Ctrl+T in register view? Result: Ctrl+T does NOT work. already set to display one line only. It is selected items only that won't shrink down to one line. Any other suggestions. I recently upgraded my Deluxe Fund Screener to Verson 15.0.0.513 (recently
required).

Previously, the Deluxe Fund Screener retrieved the 100 best matches for the
criteria chosen and displayed it in the Results Pane.
In addition, it retrieved the same columns of information for additional
symbols added to the Comparison Pane.

After the upgrade, the only symbols in the Comparison Pane that contain data
are symbols that already appear in the Results Pane ( so now there is nothing
to compare).

I am using Money 2002, but I dont see how that would affect this since I am
adding the Symbols to the Comparison Pane either manually or from a
pre-existing search file.

This is a major change in the way the screener worked and I hope this is not
intended, as I want to compare the holdings in my portfolio with those in the
search criteria. Can anyone tell me if others are seeing the same issue?
And will it be fixed?
