I'm having problems downloading Reports and Budget pages. I've been sitting
here with a message that reads "Money Upgrade in Progress." This upgrade
could take 4.5 hours to complete, but there has been no progress to the
download.

Is anyone familiar with this problem?

Same problem here. I am 3.5 hrs into my 3rd attempt and still sitting at 1%.
One of my prior attempts eventually jumped from 1% to 15% but no further.
Seems to reset to the beggining (1%) each time. Very frustrating and
un-informative progress indicator.

If you are using XP, I would close Money. Then
try creating a new user with Administrator privilege. Switch to
that user and start Money with a new blank file. Let Money
download the updates as that user.

The theory is that if the problem is an IE6 setting, you will get
default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it
would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason
the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and
your regular IE6 settings will not have been changed.

Same problem here, Cal, and I am logged in as Admin. Server problems,
again?

Update: Turning off McAfee Virus Scan/Shield seems to have allowed the
update to complete.

Sounds possible. I don't have the problem as far as I can see. Are
you all running Money 2005?

Is the problem at all similar to what is described here?

What did you click that started the symptom?

Tried this but it did not help -- update still stuck at 1%.

I tried turning off MS AntiSpyware and SpyBot S&D to no effect. I'll try
disabling McAfee to see what happens ... but I don't like the idea of having
to disable virus scan for a 4+ hr internet download! I don't know why MS
didn't just use it's existing Windows or Office Update system to download the
extra files instead of trying to invent something new just for Money ...

Tried: virgin XP account with admin rights, disabled vscan and antispyware;
still no progress in downloading the rest of the M06 update.
Running XP Pro with SP2 and latest security patches.
Is there maybe an FTP site or other link to download the rest of the app?
This is very irritating.

I suggest you contact Microsoft.

What program are you folks with this problem running?

Money 2006 standard edition after on line update from Money 2005.

The initial download gets you the core files but reports and other modules
are suposed to be downloaded in the background after the initial install --
when you try to access one of the areas dependent on these downloads you get
a status screen indicating percentage complete and indicating 4+hrs expected
download time over dialup ... but it never goes past 1% complete.

I tried to use the link you provided to send an email but the site would not
prompt me to download the activeX control to gather system information and
would not accept the product id that I got from the help/about screen in
Money.

Oh this is good! In trouble shooting the PID problem with the support site I
was looking in the registry (regedit) and found two keys that were still
pointing to the 2005 money folders rather than the 2006 folders -- when I
changed these entries and started money the missing features started working
AND I got a PID that worked on the support site:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Money|AppPath|cache
15.0\(Default)
and
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Money|AppPath|cache
15.0\Path

Both of these keys were still pointing to program file locations for the old
2005 money install -- when I changed them to point to the location for the
2006 install all seemed to work fine.

That IS good. Nice.

Online product registration worked after these registry changes as well
(prevously got an error about the server not being available).

While I had seen no symptom, I checked my registry. Mine does not
show those "|" characters. My locations may vary, but mine is
probably common.

I exported my key string and got this:
=================before=============================
>Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
>
>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Money\AppPathCache15.0]
>@="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Money 2005\\MNYCoreFiles\\msmoney.exe"
>"Path"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Money 2005\\MNYCoreFiles"
=====================================================

I fixed the path in the file, and therefore produced this file which
I ran:
=================after.reg================================
>Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
>
>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Money\AppPathCache15.0]
>@="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Money 2006\\MNYCoreFiles\\msmoney.exe"
>"Path"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Money 2006\\MNYCoreFiles"
===========================================================

After "running" it, the dates had been changed. So if somebody's
money install folder is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2006",
they could copy the 5 lines from the between the lower pair of lines
into a file named after.reg (or whatever.reg), REMOVE THE 4 ">"
CHARACTERS, and then run the file.

Again, nice find!
