I have Money 2006 and I set up my investments in portfolio manager. The cost
totals for my investments do not add correctly.

I don't have a massive portfolio so we are only talking about 2-3 mutual
funds with a broker. Initial purchases and subsequent purchases were fine.
Everything totaled and cross footed. But, that all changed when I partially
sold them to pay my son's college tuition.

Ex:

Mutual fund Cost Market Value
Fund ABC $500 $625
Fund 123 $1000 $1250

Total $1750 $1875

These are not real numbers but this is what I'm seeing. I would really like
to know how this happened and what the fix is.

Any ideas?

The only procedure that I have found that works, and like a lot of other
nuisances of Money 2005 and later, is just to delete the transaction that
posts incorrectly and re-enter it. May take 2-5 times, but at least for me,
eventually it will post correctly.

I was wondering about some settings. I am not where I can try to
replicate that right now, but somebody want to try it.

Is ChangePortfolioView->ShowClosedPositions selected, and is there a
change in your Cost Basis column when you change the setting?

Is GroupBy set to AccountName?

Is the Total you refer to for the Total Portfolio Value, or is it
the Total Account Value?

If you want to try the test values on your install, for
experimenting you could create a new file with File->New and name it
something like test06. Don't put your regular Passport on it; click
Decline.
