 - Money 2000 Everytime I open Money 2000, I get a message "This operation cannot be performed", I click OK and it lets me into the program. Everything is functional except "Bills". When I go to the "Bill" tab, I get the same "This operation cannot be performed" message. I click OK and it lets me continue, but setting up or using bills is not possible. This problem started when I was uninstalling a bunch of kids games to try to clean up my computer. One of the programs that I unistalled was Quicken. I went ahead and deleted the files that it said may be shared. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. Since that time, I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Money 2000 3 times, and this has not solved the problem. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.  - Lost downloaded transactions In Money2002, I downloaded transactions from two credit cards per my usual for years. Visa came through fine. Discover shows that there are 19 transactions to review. When opening the account, the transactions don't show. Nothing shows for the past 10 days. I tried closing and re-loading, with no change. How can I find them? Where are they? (MVP -- This never happened when Dave Hunt was still in house!) FYI, I also, on the same session, had a manual entry in Cash acct error twice, saying that the entry couldn't be made, or another activity had done it already.  - Money 2004 - Credit center will not load... Locks up browser I would like to submit my problem to MS but see previous post... Anyways, I am trying to take advantage of the 12 months of credit monitoring and report, but when I click the link, nothing happens. After that, the browser interface stops working on the services page. I also cannot get to the credit center from any other link in the program. All else works fine... Uninstalled Money. Repaired IE.  - No online support for Money 2004?? Invalid product ID I just purchased and installed Money 2004 and am trying to submit a question to Microsoft but their web site reports that my product ID is invalid.  - Money 2004 cann't start properly Money2004 Standard distributed with a new DELL PC bought a few days ago. When I start the program, it telled me that "Microsoft Money has encoutered a problem and needs to close". I send the error report. Then I called DELL support. They told me to uninstall the Money2004 and Norton AntiVirus, then reinstall the Money2004. But it still doesn't work. What should I do then. Thanks for your help!!!  - Money 2004 Budget Question I have a recurring expense, every other week. When I allow the Budget planner to prefill the budget from historical data, it enters the expense as recurring every other week, but shows the monthly budget as just one payment per month. When I try to edit the expense, I can not get rid of the prefilled amount. It seems that I am stuck with an erroneous calculation by money which I then have to fudge with another erroneous entry.  - Money stopped synchronizing with by bank - help! Since October 17 Money has stopped synchronizing with my bank and my credit cards. It worked fine since I started Money 2004 in August. I have another Money 2004 file that synchronizes fine with the same bank. I have tried the Repair feature and the new file does not sync with my bank.  - Money 2001 - Non Default Currencies and Statement Downloads I have recently moved to Papua New Guinea and have set up my local accounts on Money 2001. I have added the local currency - PGK kina to the currencies but when I try to download my bank statements I get this error box message: Import Completed Your file import was completed, but 1 item could not be processed... File import X Your statement contained a default currency (PGK) which was unrelated to the currency of the account "Westpac PNG Cheque". Money does not support statements containing unrelated default currencies. I was dowloading the file in OFX format. QIF files work fine. I have changed my PNG account to the local currency and made it the default currency but still no luck. Can money only recognise currencies that it comes with originally and not ones that get added by the user? Is there any fix for this?  - mutual fund merger I have Money 2002 Deluxe & Bus. I recently had 2 mutual funds merge and I cannot figure out how to handle this in the Money program. It tells about Company mergers and I read about 3 different ways to finagle a fund merger on older versions of Money but none of which had any sort of proper outcome (sell & buy shares, remove & add shares, etc.) Does anyone know if there is a way to properly do this on this program? thanks Doug Tag: Newbie: Category Question Tag: 152626

 - cannot see a list of transactions for 401k I downloaded the transaction lists for my 401k account. However, all I saw is "add shares" without the list of transactions. I tried the following resolution suggested in the money help. But it just doesn't work. Please help. "On the Accounts & Bills menu, click Account List.  - Money 2004 Deluxe only half starts I just installed Microsoft Money 2004 Deluxe on a Dell i8600 notebook with Windows XP Pro. Installation steps went ok but when I clicked on the Start/Programs/Microsoft Money 2004 it only "half started" or didn't completely load. Then mouse cursor would disappear behind the window and I had to use the task manager's end program to get out of it.  - Anyone using US Bank or Bank One & MS Money? I want to get full-blown, two-way OCX, "work directly with my accounts" MS Money support from a bank. According to the MS Money website, both US Bank and Bank One provide this two-way level of support. According to both bank's websites, they do not -- they only let you download & import your data into Money. The online service reps for both banks can't seem to understand my question or give me a straight answer. So I'm hoping actual Money users here may have some experience with both banks & can tell me.  - Debt Reduction Planner The debt reduction planner on my version of Money 01 does not take the minimum payment due into account. It expects me to short some accounts to make bigger payments to other accounts. Obviously that is not feasable, as the late charges for not making the minimum payment would negate any possible savings. Is there a way to fix this so at least the minimum payment is listed?  - Can't undo a scheduled bill in the budget In Money 2004, I have a category that used to have a scheduled bill. I've since changed the bill amount and category using the "bills" section. But the bill still shows up in the budget: old amount, old category. So my budget is skewed by exactly the amount of this old bill. Trouble is, I can't find the old bill anywhere else to delete it. If I edit the category in the budget, money doesn't show the monthly charge. If I go to bills, this old bill doesn't show up, so there's nothing to delete. Puzzled and frustrated.  - SAME DOWNLOAD DIFFERENT DAY THIS A REPOST FROM A PREVIOUS DAY. I have one bank account set up for online download of transactions. Once a month, we they tack the interest charge on to the account I download it. This same transaction continues to show up as a new transaction for the nextfew days. Within a few days I will receive the monthly statement. I then balance the account and reconcile all transactions on the statememt, including the monthly interest. For a few days after I have reconciled the account I continue to download the same interest transaction that has now been coded as reconciled. I do not change the Payee from what is download.  - Money 2003 Reports problem I'm preparing to pay Sales Tax collected from my customers for the third quarter. I invoiced a customer in Aug. but I received payment from them in Oct. The Sales Tax Collected report for the third quarter correctly does not show that sale in Aug. But the Sales Report does.  - Corrupt Backup The "Microsoft Certified Computer Tech" didn't tell me he was going to reformat my hard drive in order to change my operating system from Windows 98SE to XP. So I lost all my data except that which I had on my D drive or floppy. Unfortunately, I didn't back up my current Money 2003 to the D drive but had it on floppies. After installing Money 2003 on my C Drive, I have not been able to restore my floppy backup which is on 4 disks.  - trial 2004 Hello, I downloaded and installed the Money 2004 trial. I installed the trial side-by-side with Money 2003 in a totally different directory. I tried it out, and uninstalled it. I copied my saved 2003 version of my .mny file and opened it in 2003. (I still have a good backup of my pre-trial installation .mny file) Anyway, I opened it and nearly all my account balances are around 700,000,000 dollars. But they're not the same, they vary by a few hundred dollars. When I go to the account registers themselves, the account total is correct. When I go to my budget, my current balance shows up as ***err***! I then chose the "reinstall" option on Money 2003. Still same problem. I then uninstalled Money 2003 and deleted the 2003 program directory (some files were leftover). I couldn't check any of the files in the windows directory because I don't know what to check, or registery values for that matter. Even after reinstalling Money 2003 I get the same problem. "There was over $71,000 in that bag - that's more than my husband earns in a year." The woman immediately called her husband at the car dealership where he worked to tell him what she had discovered. He came home right away and they drove together to the boy's school and picked him up. Little did they suspect that where the money came from was more shocking than actually finding it in the closet. As it turns out, the boy had been sending out, via e-mail, a type of "report" to e-mail addresses that he obtained off the Internet. Every day after school for the past 2 months, he had been doing this right on his computer in his bedroom. "I just got the e-mail one day and I figured what the heck, I put my name on it like the instructions said and I started sending it out," says the clever 15-year-old. The e-mail letter listed 5 addresses and contained instructions to send one $5 bill to each person on the list, then delete the address at the top and move the other addresses down, and finally to add your name to the top of the list. The letter goes on to state that you would receive several thousand dollars in five-dollar bills within 2 weeks if you sent out the letter with your name at the top of the 5-addressee list. "I get junk e-mail all the time- and really did not think it was going to work." the boy continues. Within the first few days of sending out the e-mail- the post office box that his parents had gotten him for his video-game magazine subscriptions began to fill up with not magazines, but envelopes containing $5 bills. "About a week later I rode my bike down to the post office and my box had one magazine and about 300 envelopes stuffed in it. There was also a yellow slip that said I had to go up to the post office counter. So thought I was in trouble or something (laughs)." He goes on- "I went up to the counter and they had a whole box of more mail for me. I had to ride back home and empty out my backpack because I could not carry it all. " Over the next few weeks, the boy continued sending out the e-mail. "The money just kept coming in and I just kept sorting it and stashing it in the closet, I barely had time for my homework." He had also been riding his bike to several of the banks in his area and exchanging the $5 bills for twenties, fifties, and hundreds. "I didn't want the banks to get suspicious, so I kept riding to different banks with like five thousand at a time in my backpack. I would usually tell the lady at the bank counter that my dad had sent me in to exchange the money and he was outside waiting for me. One time the lady gave me a really strange look and told me that she would not be able to do it for me and my dad would have to come in and do it, but I just rode to the next bank down the street (laughs)." In fact, it was completely legal according to US Postal and Lottery Laws, Title 18, Sections 1302 and 1341, or Title 18, Section 3005 in the US code, also in the code of federal regulations. Hi Folks,

I have Money 2003 and just set up the online banking feature with my bank.
When my banking transactions are downloaded, i would like certain frequent
transactions to default to a certain category. For example, when I make an
ATM transaction at the grocery store, the "Payee" field is always the same.
I am wondering if there is some automatic way to categorize these incoming
transactions (like "Food:Groceries). I have tried the "Make Recurring"
feature, but that doesn't seem to do it.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to automatically recognize certain
transactions, based on their "Payee" field - and automatically give those
transactions a certain category?
