    - Money 2001 Quits When I am using My Money 2001, every 10 Min. the whole computer just shuts down like you pushed the off button. You can reboot, and it will work again for 10 Min. then do it again. I have lots of software on my 1 yr. old laptop, and this is the only program that does this. It has to be the software.     - Hello?! .NET Passport problem? I've read some other posts about this problem, but I haven't seen the answer, and I thought that if anyone in the Microsoft Universe ever bothers to read the newsgroups, they will hopefully see a recurring problem. Money tells me that my .net sign-in was unsuccessful. It's been this way for a week now. I've tried to change my .net info. When I go to the .net website, the sign-in works. When I try to tell Money to update my .net info or change my .net info, it tells me that I need to enable my browser to do cookies. But I have told my browser to accept all cookies, and it still doesn't work. Plus, cookies work on other sites.     - Have o buy a new Money prog & need some info Hi All - Microsoft Money 2000 - Windows ME About 3 weeks ago I lost access to my Microsoft Money program, it just will not open. When I click the desktop icon, I get nothing, no errors, just a short flash of the hourglass as it seems to try to open, then just.. zippo.. The fact that it is giving me the silent treatment, won't even argue with me, refuses to give me any clue as to why it just stopped working, is a real puzzle. If it would at least throw me an error message and tell me why, I might be able to find a way to make peace. But, the cold-shoulder treatment leaves me helpless to know what to do to resolve the problem. I have run a search for the CABS, and can find the ones that are supposed to reinstall it, but, it seems to refuse to recognize them (it), so there is no hope there either. I have to assume that for some reason, it has just suddenly passed away, and I will have to replace it. My question is, which more recent version of the Microsoft Money can I replace it with that will still work with my 2000 files. I only used it for storing my check register and those related records, thank goodness. I always backed my files up to a floppy and CD for safety, and did so right before the program bit the dust.     - Money 2002 - Problems with downloads & Pocket PC 1. When I download statements from one particular bank (from their website rather than directly in Money), charges & credits are reversed (i.e., the charges appear as credits and the credits appear as charges). When I try to match up the transactions, the downloaded item overwrites my Money entry. Is there any easy way to correct this reversal rather than manually editing each transaction ? 2. I installed Money for the Pocket PC onto my Toshiba e740 PDA. When I select the "Money" icon on the "Today" screen, I get an error titled "Shortcut Target" that says "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename". Money will run from the "Programs" menu; I 'unchecked' Money from the "Settings" menu, reset the PDA, and then subsequently re-checked the "Money" box but still get that error message.     - Money 2002 Deluxe Have been using Money 2002 for some time on my HP PC. Now, when the system Home Page is open, I can not access 'Portfolio'. Also, when 'performance by investment account or investment type' are opened under 'reports', only 'all accounts' can be opened and when I 'go to report' the report page appears to open, but the wording "loading" appears in the center of page and the system goes no farther to complete the page.     - 2002 passport problem When I sign into Money 2002, it says "Money is unable to verify your Online sign in. Money will now try to log you in using Work Offline sign in. Some online features, such as background banking, will be unavailable, possibly because of network problems. To use these online features, please Close Money and try to sign in again later." This happens every time I start Money. But after I'm in money, doing internet updates works fine, my web browser works fine, and I can log into passport outside of money. The problem is things like background banking never work b/c I always get that error message. I've tried disabling all of my startup programs, I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling. Any ideas???     - Transfer or Sell? Two quick questions; First is there a difference in Money (calculations, taxes, etc.) if you 1.) transfer out from a 'stock' to a 'cash' and then transfer in a 'stock' from the 'cash' or 2.) if you sell stock to cash, then buy stock from cash or 3.) transfer one 'stock' to another 'stock'? All of this is occuring from within a 401(k) or IRA account. Second, is there a reason why I should deposit into a 401 (k) or other IRA with a contribution, then 'buy' an equity from the contribution instead of just directly buying the equity from my checking account?     - $2004 probably not worth the upgrade for $2003 users I stopped by a CompUSA yesterday and spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out if 2004 was worth the upgrade (I have 03). I finally decided it wasn't. The box is very vague about what's been upgraded. It DOES have a "Haven't upgraded Money in a while?" list, but nothing similar for 2003. The home page is now "dynamic" (which just seemed to mean you could read MSN Money articles on the homepage). Transaction matching has been changed in some way so it works "better". There's a credit area that gives you your credit score (with Equifax service, I assume) and some suggestions for managing your debt load. I didn't see much else. I think I understand why MS hasn't made any kind of deal out this. I think it's a VERY minor upgrade for '03 users and they didn't want to incur our wrath from a major campaign that talked us into shelling out $40 for nothing new. Looks like it's better suited for '02 and earlier versions. As it is, I'm waiting until there's a free trial on the webpage, '05 is released, or Sam's Club gets it for $15 after rebates (how I got '03). Hope that helps some of you decide.     - Gainskeeper and Money 2004 I saw a post that a year's subscription to http://www.gainskeeper.com is included with one of the Money 2004 versions. After going to the GainsKeeper site, apparently they don't allow you to import historical transactions into their system without those counting against a pre-set number of trades/year. Gainskeeper has two levels of subscription - oOne that allows 100 trades per year for $49.00 annually and another that offers 1000 trades per year for $149.00. In my money file I have over 2000 investment transactions dating back to 1995. From the looks of it, this would require me to sign up for the $149.00 service and pay an additional $198.00 for an extra 2 "trade buckets" of 500 trades apiece. This would just cover the entry of my historical data - not trades going forward for the year. Can anyone who has purchased Money 2004 and tried integrating with Gainskeeper confirm if this behavior is also true with the integration with Money? When printing reports that show splits, this phantom sub-category takes up unnecessary space on the page and forces the total amount column to print on another page.     - Money 2003 Deluxe not responding I am running Money 2003 with Windows xp. I am having a problem with the Bills and Deposits page. When I select a bill to be paid and then "Enter into Register" the first time the Bills and Deposits jumps to the last bill on the list instead of the next bill due. When I try to enter the next bill due the windows task manager jumps to 100% cpu usage and money stops responding. I had 256MB ram installed and recently added 256mb to make the total ram 512mb.     - Downloading .ofx statements I have Windows 98, Money 2003 and IE6 loaded. I can download automatic statements (e.g American Express) and I can download Quicken Files. When I attempt to download a statement for a financial institutions I get two error messages The first is for path C:\WINDOWS\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\8T2FCDU3\July2004_3237(1).ofx. the message states "The Windows Installer failed to install the program associated with this file.     - Account Amounts don't show in Pocket Money When I synchronize Microsoft Money for Pocket PC 2002 onto my Dell AXIM, all the accounts are listed, but for some reason three of the accounts (All mutual funds) appear in account manager but without any amounts.     - Still a budget bug in 2004 The budget bug remains: If you schedule a transfer from a budget to non-budget account (Example $100). Then you look at the budget - you will see this amount budgeted. So far, so good. Then when you record the transaction - the budget amount and actual amount are the same. Again, this is good. But if you go into the account where the transfer was from or to - and you delete the transaction. The amount remains budgeted for. You can not delete the item from 'Bills and Deposits' because it no longer exists. So you are stuck with a budgeted amount. I just tested to see if that this bug still exists in 2004 - and it does. You can avoid it by making sure you DO NOT delete from the account registers (at least not Scheduled Bills - transfers - deposits). You have to delete them from the 'Bills and Deposits' area. New versions, new online-services to generate more revenue - but not enough time, expertise, or interest in fixing existing bugs. Welcome to Money 2004!     - Problem with "Monthly Budget" Report Hello everybody! I have been using Money 2003 for about 5 months and I like it very much, but I have one problem. I have the Standard Version. Something wierd is happening when I generate the "Monthly Budget" Report. I hope someone can help me, for this report is really useful. I have one Bill for Bills:Rent, but when I get the monthly budget report (and also on Annual Budget repot) the Budgeted column shows the value as the double of the original value, but the Actual column shows the correct value entered on the register. The Income Section shows correct values but the problem is only on the Expense section. I have deleted any Budget created and started from scratch a new budget selecting "No, start my budget with recurring transactions and default categories only". Income is correct according to Deposits. I don't use "Yes, pre-fill my budget ..." because it creates greater errors on Expense section and also on Income section of the Monthly budget repot. Then I click Next. The values on "Enter your Expenses" are correct according to Bills I set up. Then I click Next. All values look correct and the Total monthly expenses value. Then click Next. No saving goals registered. Then click Next. Budget Summary. Totals look fine. Then click Next. Looking at screen "Review your current budget status". Budget Period is "Current Month" but values are higer on the upper screen "Expenses:current month" for budgeted. I even try saving the budget for the period 1-30 july 2003, but get the same results. I've tried over and over removing the bill and the adding it later, or changing the system time, but can't figure it out. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!     - Delima okay ... I have only so much of this raw material that I need to divide up for 5 different products. I have to decide how much of the raw material to give to each product based on 3 different criteria. The first criteria is "importance." If I rank all five products by importance then I will have a scale 1-5 (one being the most important). The second criteria is "safety." I could once again use a 1-5 scale and rank each product by how safe they are (one being the safest). The third criteria is "erection size" (just to be interesting). Erection size is a number with a decimal value (such as 1.8, 0.2, 4.66, etc). Now the question: Using this information how can I (formula or whatever) using these three criteria determine how much of the raw material would go to each of the 5 products? Thanks!     - Creepy... About 9 months ago, I used MSN money to put some of my accounts online so I could check them when I wasn't the home computer. I stopped using it after about a month. Anyway, I just went back to check on it because I thought I might be able to find a way to get the BillPay offer w/o (apparently) having to be an MSN 8 subscriber. ANYWAY, when I pulled it up, my accounts were current as of 20 days ago. I have not even visited this page in 8 months but things were still current. I've even changed computers since then (i.e. complete reinstall). Can anyone tell me how this happened? When I try to delete one of my accounts, a message appears saying "Money is unable to write to the money file or another program has finished the task for you. Please try again."
