How can I run two versions of Money on the same computer?
Hi.
I have used MS Money 2001 since it came out and only
use it for a few checking accounts.
A friend gave me his copy of MS Money 2007 H&B as he didn't
like it. Can't say I blame him. His business computer, like mine,
is not connected to the Internet for security reasons.
Anyway I have used QB in the past and I hate that, so I decided to
install 2007 and test it. So far I have only played with the invoice
module (the one in QB sucks) and planned to give the program
a workout after the 1st of the year. BUT, I need to continue using
2001 and I can't. Nothing happens when I click on it.
I put the 2001 CD back in the drive and was going to do a re-install
(thinking I might have messed something up) but I get a grey box
message that states "The current installed version of Money is newer
than the version on this CD" so I know that 2007 is the culprit here.
Do I have to totally uninstall 2007 in order to keep using 2001
or is there a work-around?

Portfolio Manager "Update prices" - not updating stock prices since 13th of Dec
I am using "Microsoft Money 2006 Premium".
In the "Portfolio Manager" if I click on "Update prices"-->"Update prices
now", it come up with the "Update Status" dialog showing "Update complete".
The problem is that none of my stocks are getting updated. If I click on the
"Online updates" icon on the upper right corner and go to the "Review update
results" page, there it shows that the last successful update for the
"Quotes, News & Exchange Rates" was on 12/13/2006.
All other account updates are current and don't have a problem.
Please help if anyone has faced this problem in the past.

net 45 terms
I have a customer that requires net 45 terms reflected on the invoice. Money
does not have net 45 listed in the drop down when I create the invoice.

Money2007 :: Slow Response
Upgraded from Money2003. Money2007 takes nearly 6 minutes to load and
consumes 85-95% of the CPU (according to Task Manager).
Changing screens, for example from Bills to Portfolio, takes anywhere from
15 to 25 seconds each time, and consumes nearly all of the CPU while it is
doing it.
Where did MoneyExpress go?!? What a pain to have to be in the account to
enter a simple transaction. I used MoneyExpress almost exclusively for my
day-to-day entries. This is supposed to be a "better" version?
Account Balancing -- where are the details we used to have? For example,
Starting Balance, Ending Balance, Deposits, Withdrawals, etc.? This was very
useful to have and now it's gone. Again, this is supposed to be better? You
don't take features *away* from a product!!
During a Portfolio transaction (Buy, Sell, etc.) it can take upwards of 40
seconds to complete each time I do one!
All of these things make the tool difficult to use, and I've been using

accounts added doing online banking
I use Money 2006. My bank (Fifth third) recently added acredit card account
which I had not requested. Now whenever I download statements, this account
is recurrently added back despite relegating it to an "account closed"
status. I can't delete the account; Money tells me that I will lose all
accounts at Fifth third and recommends that I simply "close" this account. I
asked the Bank It peoiple to stop having account added to Money but they
respond by telling me that I have to "diable or delete" this account download

I'm new to Money. I've been a Quicken users for years.
I'm using Money 2004. In Quicken, I could sort my items by what has
cleared. It allowed me to stay current with my bank account online.
Can I sort by the CLEAR column in Money? I can't find a way to do
that.

Cash Flow forecast and Advanced Budget
I'm using advanced budget and have all my bills/deposits set up. However,
when I click on my cash flow, it appears to not show all my budgeted items,
such as food and gasoline. However, it does show other items,such as

Hi, I figured out how I can import my bank account information into MS
Money 2007 by downloading the file from my account via my bank's
website. Is there a way to set this program to automatically download
my daily spending on my debit card and insert transaction information

One account won't update
I have several accounts at wells fargo and all but one will update, I

401k statement date
While entering historical data for my 401k, I accidently entered a statement
date of 9/30/2006 instead of 9/30/2000. I didn't realize it until I tried to
load 12/31/2000 statement, and received a pop-up that said "please enter a
statement date later than your last statement date". After realizing my
error, I deleted the transactions with the incorrect date and tried to
reenter them with the correct date. At the 401k manager, it still shows the
9/30/2006 statement date, and won't let me enter any transactions prior to it.
Is there any way to delete this date or this statement without deleting the

same day buy/sell transactions for ms money 2007
Hello, can anyone discuss how to handle this.
If I buy and sell a stock the same day, MS Money does not seem to add these
transactions according to the TIME these transactions occured. this causes
the buys to all be grouped together and the sells to be grouped together.
additionally since the SELL transactions are first in the register before
the BUY transations for the SAME day, this causes the share count to go
negative. So money then rectifies this by adding ADD SHARE and REMOVE SHARE
transations, screwing up the profit and loss since these transactions have
to price.
How do I get MS Money to understand same day transactions? Moving the dates
around can help but doesn't always work because sometimes it won't let me

Windows Live ID versusa Passport
SOrt of off topic, but this came about due to Money 2007 DLX.
I have and would like to keep my current Passport account so I can access my
MCP transcript. I use this to login to Windows Live ID to configure MSN
alerts, etc for 2007 DLX. I don't care for the MSN alerts, so if I close my
Windows Live ID account, will it also delete or remove my Passport account?
I can get a straightforward online answer to this question, so any help is

401K Methodology
What is the correct methodology or process for doing the following in my
401K in 2007DLX? I have a 401k dating back to 1993 and tracking each
purchase.
Sometimes my employer will eliminate a fund (i.e. XYZ) and add an equivalent
new fund (i.e YZX). If I were to swap 1000 shares of XYZ at $2 each for
2000 shares of YZX at $1 each, would you recommend that,
- I first sell the 1000 shares of XYZ and then purchase YZX?
- Remove 1000 shares of of XYZ, and then add shares of YZX?

Money 2007 SP 1 and Vista Business
I recently did a clean install of Vista Business. I then installed Money
2007 (which I had previously been running on XP Professional). I of course
got SP 1 pushed down afterwards. I then receive the repeating request to
install the SP. I'm trying to follow the directions of this KB:

However when I go to the directory it indicates the files aren't there.
Specifically I'm having a problem with these steps:
12. In the Windows Explorer bar, click Compatibility Files to open the
VirtualStore files window for Money 2007.
13. Right-click MNYCoreFiles, and then click Delete.
When I click "Compatibility Files" it opens a list but doesn't have
MNYCoreFiles. If I go back and level and delete MNYCoreFiles it deletes the
application.

More M07 and Vista observations
Tried the looping update message fix but no cigar. I did find that if I turn
off UAC, the message goes away, but I am thinking the update doesn't think
it's complete. If I turn UAC back on the message comes back, but programs
shows the updated version and works as designed. I just cancel at each
start.
At first on install it would not connect to my live ID. I turned off web
shield in Avast, and it worked. After a few reboots it works fine with web
shield enabled.
Reason I am running Avast is that I am running 64 bit Vista.

I have a sears card that I want to pay 250.00 a month.
Money says the first payment must be 1400.00
How can I tell Money to pay just 250.00?
also I have a fixed loan of 400.00 that does not change.
I do not want money to roll payoffs into this amount.

My Password blanks out
A strange thing has just started to occur. My MS Money 2005 file is
protected by a password. When i open the file i enter my email and then my
password. If working offline the password is blanked out when i click sign
in and the file does not open. If i work on line then MS Money tries to
connect when i click sign in then blanks out the password, leaving the file
unopened.
Does anyone have any idea about this. Or how to open the file and then I'll
remove the password?

Buy and Sell Symbols on Price History Charts
Money 2007 (as well as on all previous versions I've used) have a helpful
circular "B" and "S" symbols on the Price History graphs representing the buy
and sell milestones. However they only show on my mutual fund investments.

I am going to do a restore from my last backup. I am sure that the restore
is something accessible from the File menu. What I want to know is, does a

Please help me avoid regretting my upgrade to 2007 Essentials from an older
version of Money. My credit union isn't online but that's not the problem. In

Money 2007 - Grrrrr
I have had nothing but trouble since upgrading to Money 2007. Every time I
open it, my entire pc freezes. I close M'07, but in fact, it continues
running in the background. I have to use task panel to shut down the program
before I can shut down my pc. Restart will not work. Everything has to be
totally shut down before I can open and use any other program. I have
"repaired" it using Microsoft instructions; and even tried uninstalling '07,
then reinstalled it. I cleared the cache, dumped the recycle bin, basically
got rid of all the traces I could find of '07 before reinstalling it. No
improvement. I have Win XP. As it is now, '07 is totally worthless to me.
Does anyone have other suggestions?

Haven't Used Money in long time
Greetings,
After diligently recording all transactions in Money, I stopped. I want
to be able to start from now and then fill in the missing information (about
7 months worth). What is the best way to start recording things as though
starting fresh and then incorporating the data that I already had, while
taking the next few weeks to fill in the gaps? Thank you for any and all
suggestions.
BTW, I am fairly new to Money 2006. I used 2002 for about 6 months before

"Income Reinvestment"
Each entry has a number of shares credited to my account. How do I account
for this in Money? Do I treat them all as dividends?

Money 2007 Issue
Hi,
I recently upgraded from Money 2004 to 2007. All seemed to go well, but now
when I update with my bank an odd thing happens.
I update and can see that I have downloaded transactions, but when I go to
the register they aren't visible. I then close and restart Money. The
transactions are now visible but I can't accept them because it says another
online process is running. I then close and restart Money. I can now accept
the transactions.
Any advice on what might be happening? Kind of a pain to have to restart the
program 3 times to be able to deal with my transactions.

Adding items (hours) into invoices
Hello,
In my M07 Home and Business, I get an error while entering an invoice as
soon as I add hours and press enter. The program says that there's an error:
"This operation can not be performed"
When I select more help, I get a help page that say:Details

When I search on this I see that it is an error that's related to homepage
settings, but that does not work for me.

Reason to upgrade to Money 2007?
I have MS Money 2006, which works reasonably well. My question is (and
has probably been asked before): Is it worthwhile for me to upgrade to
Money 2007? I know if I get the TaxCut software I can get Deluxe for
basically free (via a rebate). But things are working OK with 2006 and
I don't want to take the chance of screwing things up unless there is a
real compelling reason to upgrade (like faster, less memory, less bugs,
smaller data files, etc).
Advice?

Lost entries after synchronizing in Microsoft Money 2005
I have been using Microsoft Money 2005 for almost 2 years. I synchronized
my Microsoft Money a couple of nights ago so that I could view my accounts
from any computer. When I logged into Money tonight, I find that all of my
entries made prior to about a month ago are missing, in each of my accounts.
The balances are off also. I went to balance an account and the previous
balance part was blank as if I had never balanced before. I have searched
all over and cannot figure out what to do. HELP!

Budget Problems using Money 2004
When trying to set up a budget, I want to include my mortgage payments in the
budget. I've got the mortgage set up using the "loan" option so that I
transfer payments from my bank account to the "loan" account after each

In the budget, it shows my mortgage amount under the "actual" column but it
won't allow me to "budget" for the mortgage payment. How can I fix this
problem so that my mortgage payments (and other debt payments) show up in the
budget planner? Otherwise, the only expenses that show are the "interest"
portion of the debt repayments, and not the principal.

Account setup temporarily Unavailable
I installed Money 2006 standard about a week ago and online setup all my
accounts were available for indirect downloading. For some reason, since
then, have lost a couple of accounts that are no longer available for the
service, one of which is Bank of America (California) this seems to have
happened yesterday or the day before. When I attempt to again set up the
service I get the subject message. Is anyone else having this same
experience?
I can however do direct downloads into my accounts. Since I am new to the

Question about upgrading from trial version.
I finally got sick of the unreliability of downloading
quotes to Quicken. Downloaded the trial of MM7 Deluxe
last week and have successfully moved everything
to this version. Everything seems to be working fine.
Have accounts at Schwab and Merrill Lynch, and American
Express CC. The direct download from these institutions
seems to be working OK, and the quotes download has
been faultless so far. A couple of other CC's require going to
their website and manually downloading. No problems so
far.
The portfolio reports I think are excellent and I like the way
the prices get updated when I switch to the portfolio view.
The only issue I have run into is that for bonds that return
capital this is treated as gains, and also the correct
position value is not picked up from the broker, it is just
(incorrectly) calculated as price x number of bonds.
(Looking at the portfolio report). Looking or a workaround for this.
So I ordered MM Deluxe from Amazon ($39.99). (I hope the
rebate is included). Will arrive next week.
My question (finally) is, is there any trick to installing the
regular version over the trial? Should the trial be
uninstalled first? Naturally I have the .mny and backup files
located in the default "my Documents" folder. I would expect
that they would be accessible once the new software is installed.

Money 2006 Debt Reduction bug
I am trying to do a debt reduction scenerio on a Equity line. All the
current amounts, rate and loan amounts are the same. I walk through the debt
reduction specifiying a monthly amount + $0 on time payment. But for some
reason in schedule me a $12000+ one time payment onthe first month. I have
no idea where that comes from. Try it again with a $1 payment just to clear
it out, same things.

It was no problem in the 2004 edition but if there is a setting in
2007, I have not been able to find it.
