    - New Computer I purchased Money 2007 online. I downloaded the program to my computer and all was well. I just got a new computer.     - Money slow in saving data I've seen a lot of complaints about slow reporting but my problem is the slowness of saving new billing or withdrawal entries. Recording deposits is usually much faster. I guess the number of that type of transaction may have to so something with it. Anybody else having similar problems? I use Money 2004, std edition. R.P.     - Issues with quanity and shares when downloading from Brokerage acc Hi, I have multiple Etrade brokerage accounts and when transactions are downloaded into Money, I have an issue with the consistency with the information on paper statements. For example, when when itmes are downloaded into money, the quantity and share price often have 4-7 decimal points and when I receive my paper statement, it is rounded to 2 decimal points for share price and upto 3 for quantity. When I try to revise the change the downloaded transaction to have 2 decimal points for price and 3 for quanity, I cannot get it to equal the paper statement. Has anyone encouterd this? Is there a way to limit the # of decimal points in Money so that it is forced to do 2 for price and 3 for quantity? Any other suggestestions? Tag: Money 2007 won't recognize internet connection.     - Money 2004 stopped updating stock info Hi all, Money 2004 has suddenly stopped getting stock updates (price, volume, etc.). When I updated stocks prices on July 16th, Money claimed to have also downloaded a program update and informed me of the impending loss of support for Passport. However, since then I have not been able to get any stock updates. The portfolio option to update prices from the internet is gone - all that remains in the drop list under "Update prices" is the manual update option. The "Internet Updates" button at the bottom of the window appears to initiate an update, but no new stock information is ever downloaded. I don't use Passport or background stock updates - I only have a local password on the data file and have always initiated stock updates myself. I rebooted to make sure the alleged program update was installed, but it made no difference. I uninstalled/reinstalled the software, but all that accomplished was to lose some of my GUI customization. I still can't get stock updates and the portfolio internet update option is still missing.     - Payess and Catagories Hi, please bear with me and thanks for your patience on my previous basic questions. I have searched the group for an answer and cannot find an MS FAQ to help, but I have a pretty basic question or two. I cannot figure out how to standardize Payee names. Based on advice posted, I am using the advance register, version 2008 plus deluxe. When the transactions downloaded, for exmaple, I'll see chik-fil-a and a store number various times with different store numbers (yes.. luv chick fillet) I set the setting to use standardzied payee names but I still get the store numbers. When I change one such as cf#123 to just cf, the others obviously don't change. So I tried in payee options to set any cf download with a store number to just cf, but it states I already use cf, choose something else. In acct tools->catagories and payees->payees rules manager, how do I set any download of a retailer with any variations to just one single name? Under preferred payee name on the left, I have about 5 different versions of a store such as chik-fil-a #123, chik-fil-a #456, chik-fil-a #789 etc. For 123, Iset payee name variation to just chik-fil-a, but when I try to add the same thing to entry 456, it tells me it is already being used as a payee name or variation. This is backwards from quicken where I create a variation and then assign all the various downloaded store numbers to it. Also, if I change a catagory and sub-catagory for a payee in the register, will it stick going forward?     - Problems with Money 2008 Ok I was using Money 2006 and all of the sudden my Portfolio Manager goes blank, nothing nada zilch. Investing home shows my investment accounts at the top, but when I click Portfolio Manager it goes to the page and its all blank except for the word Portfolio Manager. Any Ideas what the problem is? Also I cannot see any of the financial institutions when setting up a new account it just has a red triangle with ! in it that says the list is temporaily unavailable. Please try again later. I tried all the suggestions in the knowledge base I found on this problem and nothing worked. I hope someone here can help me otherwise I just wasted $49.00 upgrading from Money 2006 to Money 2008.     - new "you must be connected to the internet to sign in online" erro Hi. I've got the Microsoft Money Plus trial and have only had it for about 2 weeks. It was working fine last time I ran it a few days ago and today when I ran it, it won't log me in. It says, "You must be connected to the internet to sign in online." Nothing interesting has changed on my computer other than: - A new version of zone alarm, which I've tried turning off and running MsMoney, but I still get the same error. - Whatever random updates Microsoft has decided to do.     - Money file repair tool keeps crashing Every month my checking account doesn't balance. When I attempt to balance it, I get an error that the starting balance is incorrect. I go back over several years worth of bank entries, rebalancing every month. I find that Money has dropped a transaction from several years ago. This has happened the last 3-4 months now with the missing trasactions appearing random.     - Custodial Accounts These threads have been super helpful in answering my questions in the past so I figure I would throw a new one out there. I am managing a custodial account for my niece but I dont want the account to be included in any budgets or reports for me. I dont want to have to maintain a seperate Money file for this either. I just want to view the account. For now, I have listed the account as a "watch" account but I am curious if anyone has dealt with this situation in the past and has a better solution.     - Money auto-assign category to downloaded transactions It's happened several times, but I can't quite pinpoint the trigger to it. Every now and then, when I download transactions into Money, it random assigns a category to all the transactions, and the category is the same one.     - Starting problem Hy my name s Felipe and this is my 1st post here. I tried to find that info in Google before posting here but there is just too much garbage and I could not find it. My problem is this: My bank insue statements that when I upload into Money the description of the PAYEE is in the MEMO field this makes my life more complicated because I have to manually use "find and replace" every time (weekly) I upload a new statement. I guess such a nice software does have a way to specify that everytime I upload this statement it read the value in the MEMO field and throw it in the PAYEE field.     - Transferred mny to new PC, cannot login My client just bought a new PC, after installing Money on the new one and copying over the mny file, it asks for a password to be able to gain access, my client is adamant there is no password.     - Capital Gains Report is Incorrect, It's Using Average Cost Basis I'm using Microsoft Money Plus. I'm having an issue with the capital gains tax reporting. Essentially, I sold shares of a mutual fund to take a tax loss. I did not sell all of the shares, only the shares ( (purchased at certain dates and prices) that would yield a loss when sold. I specifically designated these shares in the transaction when I allocated the lots. However, the capital gains tax report is incorrect. It shows a gain. I can tell exactly what the program is doing. Even though I designated which lots to sell, the program is using my average cost basis when computing my gain/loss in the capital gains tax report. Obviously, I would like the program to track the shares as I designated them. I suppose I could make a note in my tax files with the correct information, but I would like the program to do what it's supposed to do. Is there a way I can fix this? Cal Learner?     - OFX. My investment bank has just started offering downloads of transactions into Money (or Quicken). Here's a problem I've encountered and any advice would be greatly appreciated: 1. Their download screen offers an "As of" date, but no "To date". For example, I can tell them I want transactions as of a certain date, but I cannot tell them the cutoff date. They assume I want ALL transactions from the "As of" date forward. 2. The downloads include post-dated transactions. For example, if an investment will pay a dividend payment 3 days from now, that transaction will be included in the download as a post-dated transaction. 3. Money doesn't handle post-dated transaction well. While it accepts them just fine, the account balances don't reflect the post-dated transactions. This makes account balancing difficult because my Money balances differ from they say I should have. (I'm aware of the Ending Balance switch, but it's applied universally which won't work well for me.) 4. After each download, Money attempts to reconcile my holdings with that of the brokerage. Since post-dated transactions aren't recognized, there is a discrepancy and Money asks if I want to adjust Money's holdings to that of the brokerage. (Obviously I don't because I know the cause of the discrepancy.) 5. Does OFX know if duplicate transactions have been downloaded? I know QIF will accept duplicates, but I'm not sure of OFX. For example, if I download today (using OFX) which includes a postdated transaction for 7/12/2008, what happens if I perform a download in the future and use an "As-of" date of 7/10/2008? Will I get the 7/12 transaction again or is OFX (or Money) smart enough to recognize that that transaction has already been downloaded? Thanks in advance for your help. seems reasonable that the first problem to troubleshoot is why IE "doesn't
work".
