Modifying Investment Summary
An earlier post by someone else on the same topic got no replies. Let's try
again!
Money 2006, Windows XP Home
I have an investment account under the name of the company (AGF). At one
time, I had two different mutual funds under this account. One fund has since
been sold, and the other is still active. On the Investment Summary on my
home page, both funds still appear. I want to get rid of the fund I no longer
own.
Before anyone asks, I have indicated under "Investment Transactions" that
the one fund has been sold, and the balance shown for this fund is zero. So I
have no money invested in this fund, but it keeps appearing in "Investment
Summary".
What do I (and Sid, the earlier poster) need to do so that this fund no
longer appears in

Spending by Category Report on Home Page
I have Customized my Spending by Category Report to not include Taxes and
some other stuff (under the Reports tab).
However, I also have the Spending by Category report show up on my Home
Page. This report does not include the customizations I made under Reports,
so it shows ALL categories.
Anyone know how to make the Home Page report be the same as the other one?

slow loading, slow updating
I am using MS Money in a non-standard application.
I am maintaining ledgersin checkbook fashion for 100 accounts, each set
up as a separate checking account. Each of those has 3 transactions set
up as automatic bill pays. Other than that, there are very few entries,
averaging 6 per year at most.
The program takes about 5 minutes to load.
Corrections, such as posting bill payments, takes approx 10 seconds to
cycle through: Open, edit, enter, wait........ Open, edit, enter,
wait.....etc.
I am not doing any online updating or anything like that.
Is there anything I can do to speed this up?

Difficulty Accessing This Particular Forum
I consistently experience difficulty accessing this particular forum, i.e.
"Sorry, the page you requested is not available." I have a broadband
connection, but nevertheless it seems to time out...anybody else having the
same/similar experience. Other Community Newsgroups don't seem to have this
same problem? Can't be the volume, can it?

Citibank OFX. no transactions
Hello. When I try to download Citibank OFX transactions, it shows how
many transactions will be downloaded and asks you to click next to
download the transactions. Then it appears to be doing something, it
looks like the window that I usually click OK on after the transactions
have been downloaded is being suppressed. No transactions show up in
the register. I've tried clearing the temperorary internet files and
cookies, but it isn't helping. I tried reparing the Money file too,
but direct ofx works fine and so does ofx download from other websites
such as the GM Card website. Any suggestions to fix this would be
welcom. I also tried downloading QIF, but that doesn't work either. Tag: Money 2006 wont update Citibank account.... Tag: 208970
Date Question
In Money 2006,
In previous versions of Money you could set the check register to show
either the date an EPay was processed by the back or the date it was due at
the Vendor. In Money 2006 I can't seem to find that setting. Can anyone
direct me to the right place? Thanks.

Transaction Cannot Be Entered
After a transaction download that went bad with Money not recognizing some
investments, I restored a backup from 5/1. But now, when manually entering
transactions since then, Money pops up a dialog box that says "This
transaction cannot be entered."
I ran the Quick Fix feature. No Change. Thanks for any assistance.

Closed accounts show up in Reports
I see other posts for this and none of the supposed answers seem to fix my
problem, at least permanently.
I have one online account that is actually tied to 3 at my bank. All three
accounts show up in money. One of these accounts is just an account I
monitor, so I don't want it's transactions listed with mine during
calculations.
I have "closed" the account in money. I have unselected the options for
this account to 1) Include this account in the budget planner and 2) Use
this account for budgeted savings goals. None of these fix my issue (see
post title).
I notice that in the advanced report options, I can select/unselect the
accounts I want factored into this report. I unselect the account I don't
want and now everything works!! Except when I close money and reopen, that
account is again checked!!!
So it seems either I'm missing how to "save" the report settings I set, or
something is amiss. Help??
Also, if I am in money and I deselect the account from the report "spending
by category", it works while I'm in the report list, but the main page of
Money shows this same report WITH the account I don't want factored in. How

Income - Unassigned: no detail
Hello,
My apologies if this has been asked before. I searched but came up
with nothing. When I look at my Income and Spending report for April
their is $50 of income in the category heading line: Income -
Unassigned. However, when I drill down to view the related
transactions there are none, just a blank report. Anyone know how to
track this down?

Portfolio Manager the same old Problem
Hi
After opening 2 tickets, number of unanswered emails and waiting for 2
months I still didn't received final respond from MS Tech Support. So much
for free support. This is how we leaned ... See problem description below.
This problem starts some where around Money 2003.
I am thinking about going back from my 2006 version to 2003 or 2004 version.
I found a couple of messages on this site, from people who had the same
problem. Does any body know for sure, what was the last version that didn't
have this problem - 2002, 2003, 2004, so I can try to reinstall it in place
of 2006?
Problem description:
In Money 2006 Portfolio Manager, does not show closed option trades with
the past expiration dates, even when the "show closed positions" is checked.
The transactions are still there in the transactions records, just not
visible in portfolio manager. This problem exists starting some where around
Money 2003.

I purchased a Preferred Bond Hybrid. The Stock symbol that works @ the
Schwab web site is USB+I and USBpI works using StreetSmartPro (Schwab's
online trading program). However, I can't seem to find the secret
combination for whomever supplies Money with online quotes. Help would be

New router, cannot log into Net Passport nor update stocks
In the last few weeks, I've installed a new router on my network (1 desktop 2
laptops). All other network and internet functions are okay but MS Money
2005 will not let me log into Net Passport, (ID and or password cannot be
verified). I contacted D link regarding this and they indicated that a
"port" may need to be opened. Once I log into my money file offline, it will
not update stock and mutual fund prices. I have used Money for years. Does

Hi
I have just started using Microsoft Money 2006 Deluxe.
When I import my bank statements from my online banking am i able to set
some 'pre-sets' so if it reads the heading as 'Electricity payment' it can
automatically put it to the category 'Utilities' and if it has a groceries
store name it can automatically put it to 'groceries' category without me
have to do it each time?

MSMoney 2006 Deluxe - Unable to remove "overdue" bill notification. KB913617 doesn't help.
I have exactly the scenario described by KB 913617 [1], but the
workaround doesn't work for me. I have three reminders on the home
page for "overdue" water bills.
When I follow the workaround instructions, and get to step 8, I am
unable to edit the series of bills. I click "Edit bill series" and
then nothing happens, except the calendar screen refreshes.
I have already deleted the recurring bill from the Bills page, and
have run out of ideas.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd say, "Thanks!"

Portfolio not updating prices properly
Reposted for clarity:
Some of my stocks in my portfolio do not update prices throughout the day.
Some do (ARTC, IWM, and IVV), but most do not, including (ORCL, TWX, CSCO,
T, GE, MRK, HD, WMT, QCOM, MHS, EFA, EEM, DIA, SPY, SW2XX, ABALX, QVGIX,
SLMCX, AGTHX, SSRAX)
For instance, at 7PM, when I look at my portfolio, most of the stocks list
the days gain as unch, and still list yesterday's closing price (which
didn't
update until sometime late the night before). For those stocks, I never
have
a day's gain listed, because when the price finally updates, it's a new
day!!
Strange but true...any suggestions?
I am also having another problem....my Etrade account update seems to be
stuck and I can't force an update due to an error message (seperate post).

Error updating
My Etrade account is stuck saying "update in progress". When I try to force
a manual update, I get the error message, "You cannot perform this operation
right now, please complete the current task and try again."
I have tried to repair my money file but I get another error message that
says it can't read the file. I have also deleted the Etrade account and
tried again, but get the same error message.

I have a brokerage account with several transactions that have been entered
but not marked reconciled. Is there a way to quickly mark them as
reconciled? In older versions of Money, I could do it with ALT E M R, but
with 2006, I see no way to do it except by right-clicking on each

Category Management
I would like to review all categories and subcategories in my Money file,
deleting those who I do not use or no longer wish to use. Accomplishing
this, what happens to categories deleted that have transactions associated
with them. Do they revert to a transaction without category?

MONEY 2005 BACKUP PROBLEMS
Does anyone know why Money 2005 will not restore my backup from a USB
thumb drive. The backup was made with Money 2004. The program goes
through the process and from 'properties' the size of the file would
indicate that the data is there but just won't display on the front
end. HELP..................! My life is in that backup and I'm stuffed
without it.

Why do Closed accounts still try to update?

I had 4 Netbank accounts all under the same logon ID. I have closed 2 of
the accounts but for some reason. MS Money keeps looking for them and gives
erros everytime I connect. When I say I closed them, I mean, I closed them
at the institution and then I closed them in MSMoney. But whenever I do an
online update I get the following error:
"Microsoft Money could not update your account because your bank or
brokerage does not have a record of it. The account may be closed or the
account number may have changed. Learn More."
Duh... That's exactly what happened, the account is closed... so how come
Money keeps trying to update it. I've tried everyway I can think of to
disassociate this account with the Online Setup (short of stopping and
resetting up online services, which I can't beleive is the real answer).
By the way, I have the same problem with Chase Credit cards when I reduced
from 6 to 4.

Asset Allocation Chart
I am using Money 2004. Have few mutual funds entered in M-2004 but the
asset allocation pie chart displayed is wrong. I am unable to fix by
manually changing it. I thought if you give the ticker symbol. Money
will be intelligent enough to grab the information from the Net and
update the chart properly.
For example - For the Total Stock market Index fund -- pie chart shows
all the fund as part of Large Cap. It should split it into Large, Mid
and Small cap looking at ticker symbol. How do I fix this problem? Does

I use Money 2005 Small Business Edition to manage my small business as a
carpenter.
What's the best way to record the purchase of physical assets like tools?
I currently purchase a tool, like a table saw, with my business credit
card, categorizing the transaction as "Transfer : Business Assets". This is
good, because the Asset account shows up properly in a Profit/Loss
statement. It's bad that the transaction does NOT show up in the Tax
Software Report at all. I'm lucky I caught this and sent a manual report to
my CPA this year!

Money 2006 small business sorting by customers name
Is there a way to sort customer name by their last name? If I enter name
last name first, the invoices are printed last name first. So, if I enter
name first name first one cannot find transactions alphabetically. Any
suggestions?

Reversing an automatically balanced account
I ran into a problem in recent weeks. I import my transactions from
CITI and US BANK and they come in as reconciled and Money shows that
the account was most recently balanced at the time of the import. This
started happening after having to reload Money Deluxe 2005.
This is rather annoying since I balance all my accounts off of paper
statements just as a sanity check.
The "Automatically mark accepted transactions as reconciled" option in
the online services setup menu is unchecked.
I need 2 things done:
1. Stop Money 2005 from automatically balancing the account upon import
of financial data.
2. Reverse the balanced account so I can go back and balance the
account manually against a paper statement.

Money Deluxe 2006
I am trying to buy a Version of Money Deluxe 2006 in Australia, but I
haven't been able to find it in any shops, office Works, DickSmith, I
can only find the Standard Version.
Does it exist?
Can I buy the version online from Microsoft web site, and choose an
Australian Version.

MONEY BACKUP PROBLEMS
Hi everyone. I can't get Money to restore a backup I made onto a USB
drive. I did this before I got a new computer and now I have Money 2005
loaded on the new drive it won't open the files. Now I'm really stuck.
MSN tech help have been next to useless on this. Does anyone have any

How to handle a tax free exchange
I have a socially responsible mutual fund (Parnassus Equity) that has
allowed me to exchange my regular shares to those in an institutional fund
in a transaction with no tax consequences. The share ratio is
1.0003883956:1.0000000. The symbol is different for the two funds. (Note
that I still have the old fund in my IRA account, as I don't have enough
shares to qualify for the institutional fund in that account). How do I
handle this transaction to allow for keeping my original basis (a Sell/buy
exchange would change the basis.)

M2004 - Can I sell "lots" in IRA account ?
I know taxes aren't an issue in an IRA, but for the first time in a
long time I sold some stuff earlier this week in my IRA. AND it was not
the entire position. When I enter it into Money, I do not get an option
to select the lots ( just so I can see " how I'm doing" in the GAIN
column). I right-click - SELL - and no option to choose lots. I don't
have FIFO selected and this is the first time in a while that I've sold
in my IRA. I checked the past entries but it was always a sale of the
whole postion so LOTS didn't matter. In my regular account, "Lots "
worked a few months ago. I just opened the register for that sale and I
can "reallocate lots", so the function works. But does it work for
non-taxable accounts ? I tried Money HELP but no mention either way .
