We bought a new laptop in April 2007, and Microsoft Money 2006, standard
edition came with it so we decided to switch to use that for our money
program.

Everything has been fine until a week ago when I tried to update my bank
account info- to see cleared transactions etc (from Washington Mutual), it
says " this bank for brokerage no longer provides updates to money. You can
update this account by typing in transactions"
WHAT????
Here is what I have done- ANY help would be GREAT

did online help with Gateway (our notebook is gateway) they said to do a
system restore to a date when it was working. I did this, no change.

emailed washinton mutual, they said it must be a Money problem...

Advice? Thanks in advance!

That's the only way I've ever updated an account. It works fine. Saves lots
of hassle keeping all this stuff working and fixing all of the munged up
data. YMMV.

WaMu is still supported in Money. I have an account with them as well.
Make sure that you are following the instructions to stop services on the
original account and then add a new account and merge the two together.

I have EXACTLY the same problem. The direct updates from Wamu into Money
worked fine until mid July which is when MS updated their servers.

MS Support told me that I needed a 'Special' password from WAMU.
I called WAMU who had NO idea what MS were tlkaing about and also said, as
they did to you, that they no longer support direct downloading into MS Money.

Great. MS may have upgraded their servers, but they downgraded my service!

Disable WAMU for online access if it is set up that way already.
Then set it up again. You will need to provide the same credentials
that you use when you sign in to the WAMU web site. Then expect to
merge what you download with the pre-existing account.

Hmmm... I was able to re-add WaMu and merge it as per the instructions, it
works fine.

it took me a day of trying (kept getting "try again later"), but I eventually
got it to work. I set up a BRAND NEW account - not from within manage online
services, but from the Home page.
