    - Price History Money 2005 - When I view the price history graph, some investments (not all) display the buy (B) and Sell (S) marker in the graph. Naturally I would want all graphs to display the BUY and SELL markers as a very useful tool. I am told that the Update price takes precidence over the BUY/SELL Transaction. Editing the price history manually does not permit a BUY/SELL option - only UPDATE. If the price were deleted the BUY/SELL information is not updated ever when I run an online uodate. So, since this is an extremly important function that is lacking I am encouraged to manuall edit the PRICE HISTORY file to record the BUY/SELL inofrmation. Since I cannot find that file - I know of no other work around to this situation. Curious if this 'BUG' were fixed in the 2006 version. Suggestions appreciated.     - Today's Total Change (but not a Q re mutual fund updates) In M06, Portfolio Manager, the total shown at the bottom of view as Today's Total Change does not, in fact, reset to $0 at the start of each day. It keeps yesterday's value and, apparently, uses that value as the starting point for the next trading day's gain or loss. Right now, for instance, on Sunday, I'm looking at Friday's gain as Today's Total Change (TTC). If I am correct about this, is there a way to reset TTC to zero at the start of each trading day?     - Money 05 restore problems I need to reformat my hard drive and am moving important files to another computer before I do. The problem is that I cant make my files work on the other computer. I have read all the previous posts regarding this problem and none of the solutions are working. I either have trouble with the password or it tells me the file is incompatible. They are both 1105 versions running on XP, I have tried through a network file transfer, through using the flash drive. I have tried transfering both the backup as well as the original files. I disabled the password on the original to make it easier but its not working. I have tried creating a new file and updating and all of the things suggested. What now?     - How to reset/clear the budget and fix phantom budget expenses Here's a way I found to reset the budget when there are "phantom" expenses lurking around that don't seem to go away. These phantoms may also prevent you from switching from essential to advanced budget mode. There's currently no good KB article I could find to help me solve this problem. Hope this helps Go to the budget tab. Click on Edit expenses in the sidebar Remove ALL categories (should say Total: $0) then click done Now if you still have phantom expenses in your budget, and can't go to the Advanced Budget, do the following Click on the Budget vs. Spending subtab Make note of any phantom categories you see remaining in your budget (these are what you need to get rid of) Somehow, get to the Categories & Payees window (e.g. banking->account tools->....) For every category (subcategory) that you noted was a phantom in the budget: - double click the (sub)category - move all transactions to some temporary category (use only top-level categories, not subcategories) - when finished, click done - from the Categories & Payess window, delete the phantom (sub)category - when it asks for a new category to put the deleted stuff in, choose the temporary category you just moved the transactions to After doing this for all phantom categories, go back to the budget tab. Click on Edit expenses in the sidebar You should now see the temporary categories - the phantoms have materialized! Remove all the categories and click done This should have fully reset your budget. Move your transactions from the temporary categories back to where they belong and rebuild your budget again from the ground up. This worked for me. Hope it helps for you too.     - Cash flow forecast does not match saving goals data When editing advanced budget: I set up income and expense parameters. I also set up saving goal. At the final step of the budget set up, it displays a summary, including information about savings goal. If the goal cannot be reached, this information includes the actual sum you will have by the date planned. The problem is that this sum is different from the sum I see at the cash flow forecast for exactly the same date. Cash flow forecast value always lower. Note that I _do_ use budgeting data, not transaction trends, for cash flow forecast. From reading threads so far I don't think its possible BUT - i live in Australia and there are no banks associated with Microsoft Money so I'm thinking its predominantly a US thing... With investments & updating them my shares are replaced by the US equivalent or advised symbol not found - is there any way of overcoming this or is the software only configured for US use?     - Problem with Euro symbol I have a persistent problem, and would like to know if anybody can reproduce it. I am using MS Money 2006 Deluxe (trial version). In the currencies, Euro symbol is set up incorrectly - some blubberish is displayed instead of the correct symbol. When I go and update it to the correct symbol (copying it from the character map), it works ok. But when I after that close MS Money and in syncs data, it crashes with the error. After restarting, the Euro symbol is again set incorrectly - i.e. in the default state.     - CASH INVESTMENT TRANSACTION Hi, I have deposited my money in a Bank for fixed interest and fixed amount of time. I am from Canada so they call as Guaranteed Investment Certificates. Now when I set up an Investment account and entered Cash Transaction in it, the updated portfolio showing my total amount as market value. That is true but nothing was shown in purchases. OK thas fine, but at the same time in Cost basis the whole amount as shown. But it included interest which is payed monthly, or quarterly, or semi annually.     - Total Change column in portfilio view Hi there, for mutual funds, the TotalChange column in the portfolio view never seems to update for that day. This only happens for mutual funds, not stocks. The updated quotes for those funds download fine however and the +/- change is indidated fine. Any ideas?     - 2006 file invlink.xml prevents web access Money 2006, windowsXPSP2 Basic problem is that any attempt to go to the network by clicking on various buttons doesn't work. (e.g.) in money home page clicking on 'investing' 'planning' or 'taxes' doesn't work. The links WILL work if the file invlink.xml is removed! (C:documents & settings\my-name\local settings\application data\microsoft\money\15.0\webcache\invlink.xml) There is nothing obviously wrong about this file it is dated 8/31 and appears to have been come from invlink.cab. Looking at norton's log files it appears that an attempt was made the first click (i.e. on 'investor) to connect to http://g.msn.com as seems to be what most of the 'links' items point to in invlink.xml. but nothing else happens. After that first click subsequent clicks on various buttons that should go to the web do not create additional attempt in norton's log. Also note that if I remove the directory (or just its contents) webcache - the first time I use money it works correctly and reloads the webcache. Then after I close money and open again I once again cannot use external links until I remove the invlink.xml file.     - How do I get Money 2006 to properly process the update from Fidelity I installed Money 2006 Premium a few days ago, upgrading from Money 2004. I have a 403(b) with Fidelity, and automatic downloads into Money. I got a message saying that Money 2006 had to process a statement from Fidelity - it was a reinvestment for one of the funds I have. However, Money 2006 didn't have a clue as to which fund to put it into, and no where within the statement did I see the fund's symbol. So, how do I get Money 2006 to add the reinvestment to the proper fund, rather than just dumping it in an unrelated way, into my retirement account within Money 2006?     - Using Money 2006 makes it so that My MSN doesn't remember my password I have discovered since installing MS Money 2006 that whenever I get out of Money 2006 and then get into Internet Explorer, I have to re-enter my username and password to get into My MSN. I am sure it is because I've used Money 2006 that it does this (because I always select "Save Username and Password" when getting into My MSN immediately after using Money 2006).     - Help.. p;ease.. money 2003 & stock split ! I am absolutely and utterly confused. Hope someone could help.. I bought 40 shares of stock, it split 2:3 so that I had 60 shares to sell. Fine. I later re-bought it, then it split again. Fine. In Money, it shows me originally buying and then selling _90_ shares at a different price, so that I end up with same amount that I sold 60 for. It seems that when the stock split again - after I re-bought it - Money had went all the way back to the original transaction and adjusted it for split. So, if I sell the stock, and re-buy it 10 years later, all my totals will be OK but my share #s will be completely off ? Is there a way to force Money to keep the historic data for each batch ?     - Chase Bank no longer fully supports any version of MS Money I know it sounds like doom and gloom, but I have spent the last week researching this and what I have found out about Chase Bank is quite disappointing. Through the merger with Bank One, Chase Bank has decided to cutover to the Bank One online banking systems - These systems do support OFX download, if thats your bag baby, but they no longer fully support direct download. While direct download from within Money still works, not all fields come down, ie if your employer pays in your salary, the deposit entry will just appear as "payment', it will not include the name of the direct depositor - which is a huge problem if you get more more one payment a month. In 12 conversations I have had with Chase it appears that they know about this, but it will take over a year to solve.... I cannot wait that long, so anyone have a recommendation ? Perhaps BOA ?     - Upgrade from Money 2003 to 2006 Changes Portfolio Rates of Return to Change It's as if during the upgrade process it forgot the results of closed postions. It looks like it's only using the existing positions. I did the upgrade after the market had closed and updated the prices. Presto chango my rates of return went up!     - Microsoft Money and TD Canada Trust. I want MS money to be able to auto-categorize the transactions it downloads from my bank, but aparrently, to do this, it needs to be in "Essential Mode", which requires that Money be able to connect directly to your bank. For some reason, MS Money is only able to interface to my bank in "Advanced register mode", which doesn't auto-categorize transactions. Does anyone know why this is? Does anyone know how to get it to auto-recognize and categorize my transactions in Advanced mode?     - Nationwide Financial Hi, I have a 401k held at Nationwide, which is not listed as one of the institutions to choose from in Money's list (it is not Nationwide Federal Credit Union). Nationwide gives me the option to download the ofx file to Money, but when it says "import completed," I see nothing! Even if I download it to my computer and then import the ofx file, I still see nothing. I would like to be able to keep track of this 401k file, and Nationwide says they have been instructed by Microsoft to direct all questions to them, so here I am! I think part of the problem is that Nationwide has the idiotic practice of showing me how many units I have and the unit value, as opposed to shares and share value (and they are different, so I can't open a 401k tracker in Money with those funds and use the "unit value" as the share value, or my 401k is suddenly listed as worth 20x what it actually is). Can someone please let me know if there is a way to keep track of my Nationwide 401k in any way shape or form through Money, and how the import function would work in this scenario?     - Duplicate Payees Why do I keep getting duplicate payees on the online payments I make in Money 2006? I pay through Wachovia bank, I do have an MSN Billpay account but never use it. It seems that the duplicate is created when the payee name/transaction is reported back by the bank, a day or two after the payment date. The payee names match exactly; some as simple as "BGE" for our gas & electric, I have two accounts (or 3,4,5,6,....if I don't manually clear them out).     - MSN Money issue with intraday updates After initial investigation I now know this isn't actually a Money software problem but I couldn't think of a better place to ask. I have been using Microsoft's portfolio manager on the web, and in Money for a couple of years and mostly I'm pretty happy with it. But just the last couple of days it's usefulness has become seriously impaired. I used to get regular intraday updates on my ETF's but for the last couple of days for most (but not all of them) this has ceased and the only updates I get are overnight. E.g. http://moneycentral.msn.com/detail/stock_quote?Symbol=iev shows it as unchanged but if a simple google on IEV shows it has changed (http://tinyurl.com/dk3f2). It's the same with IYR and IYM. But AGG (which is also iShares) works OK. Does anyone have any idea what is up with MSN Money that they are failing to update this fundamental information in real time?     - Deleting Sold Investments It seems that M2004 deletes sold investments past about 3 months. I haven't found any setting to stop this. Of course, it distorts my performance reports.     - Need to delete some funds that I no longer have The company I work for uses Fidelity for its 403(b) plan. I had money in various funds. About a year or so ago I decided to move some of my money from a couple of under performing funds to better performing funds. However MS Money 2004 (now 2006) thinks that I've got money in all of the various funds, including the ones that I no longer own any shares in.     - Account Register Payee/Memo Issues My bank lists my transactions as either a withdrawal, deposit or transfer. Then there is a subcategory that lists the details of that transaction, if any. The problem I am having is that MSM downloads the data from my bank, and when I open the account register all I see is a page full of withdrawals and deposits. If I go to the advanced register I can see the detailed info MSM has downloaded and put into the memo field, but the issue that I am having is that MSM will not categorize using the memo field, nor can I find a way for MSM to automatically fill in the transaction field from the memo data. The result is I have to go through EVERY transaction and edit it out to view the transaction type and/or have a categorized spending outlook. This is incredibly annoying, to the point that it just doesn't seem worth it. I have been through every option I could find to maybe get MSM to automatically fill in the data using familiar names I have given it. It still does not work.     - Multiple Payments One of the new feature of MSM 2006 was to be able to "check" the online payments that you needed to make and send them all at once. I have found a couple of problems that I need assistance. 1. When I check the payments that I need to make, the computer moves quickly for the first two. Once I check the 3rd, 4th, etc. it stops and thinks and then moves on. 2. When I have finally completed the checking of the payments that I need to make, I get this error "Electronic transfers can't be submitted at the same time as other payments or transfers. to submit an electronic transfer, go back to BILLS SUMMARY page, select the check box next to the transfer you want to submit, and then click PAY ONLINE. Once I click OK, it take the first of the series of payments and proceeds through the SAVE DRAFT OR PAY ONLINE screen, then takes you back to the BILL SUMMARY page. All of the boxes are unchecked and you start over again. This problem comes up whether I am making ONLINE TRANSFERS only, PAYMENTS TO SUPPLIERS only OR MIXTURE OF BOTH. Can you assist?     - 2006 language? problem Using Money 2006 with a stock price history (chart) displayed I click in left column for "Interactive charts on msn money". I get "this page cannot be displayed" with the address of http://de/ the 'de' leads me to believe that it is trying to get to German? sites. My Money 2006 is a boxed version (US) purchased at a Best buy. I am not multilingual (barely single-lingual) so should have never installed 'German' language setting anywhere. Help appreciated.     - Recurring Transfer on Event (like a trigger) I've been using Microsoft Money for a few years now (currently on version 2006), so I'm pretty sure this feature doesn't exist... but I keep thinking how nice it would be and I haven't seen any posts on it, so I wanted to bring it up. It would be nice if there were a way to trigger a transfer on an event. For example, I would like a recurring notification to transfer funds out of my checking account into my savings account when my checking account reaches a certain balance. Right now I try to estimate when that'll happen and use one of the limited 'Frequency' options (like twice a month). The lifetime planner has some of these event based concepts, but I haven't seen anything like it in the 'Bills summary' section. Anyone else think this would be useful?     - MSN Money Synchronization I am upgrading from Money 05 to 06 when I try to update with my bank accounts. The MSN Money Synchronization always says Your last call encountered an error: {date} updates are temporarily unavailable. Please Try again later. But this happens everytime regardless of when I try to update. Subsequently my bank transactions and balances don't match up. Han anyone experience the same Issue?     - Money 2006 buttons/links not working Recently upgraded from 2004 to 2006. Many buttons and links within 2006 don't work (i.e. do nothing when clicked). For instance in the home page in the selection bar across the top: Home,Banking,Bills,Reports,Budget work but Investing Planning and Taxes do not. Also in the home page in the left column Investing Home, Planning Home, and Taxes Home do nothing. In my portfolio, none of the 'news' links do anything (new news has arrived when mouse hovers but nothing on a click) Other links that I suspect should go to web sites (MS offers) also do nothing. Possible hint, the selection for setup of weather web pages are seen in the default (IE) or within money doesn't seem to have any effect. I can change it but still uses IE no matter what the setting shows. I "fixed" the problem by removing all traces of previous Money versions, including manual removal of registry items. This fixed lasted about two days and now problem is back. Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.     - Money 2006 and adding new bank accounts I just loaded Money Deluxe 2006 and when I try to add a bank account for the Hudson Valley Credit Union, Money links me to the MSN Billpay website instead of asking to provide the sign-in information for the Credit Union.     - Money 2005 - Downloaded Date & Balance not available Money had a critical error and closed. Afterwards I could not get my Account Register to Balance with my Account List. After trying several things, I ended up copying all the transactions into a new account, deleting the old account and then renaming this new account.     - Money 2005 - Does it need to be run as administrator I just upgraded from Money 2004 Standard to Money 2005 Standard, I am running on Windows XP Home with all the current patches and upgrades installed. I did update Money 2005 to the x.x.x.1105 per the knowledgebase. The problem is that I can not access the converted money data file from a limited account, like I could under Money 2004. I sign in with my Passport ID, I get a message saying loading bills. Then I get an error that "The place you are trying to reach only functions in the Business version of Money", I already re-installed Money once per Article ID 894025. I can immediately afterwards as administrator open the same file error free. Since Money is not an administrative type program it is inappropriate to require being administrator and 2004 did not require it. Also, I copied the sample file from the Program File's directory to My Documents where I got the same error. I also tried creating a brand new file with nothing in it as in File | New and adding no accounts. That seemed to work till I exited Money and tried to open it again. I received the same error. I also have the latest version of Ultrasoft Money installed, (4.3.1), but this error occurs regardless of whether Hotsync accesses the data file or not. First, sorry if this has been covered, but I can't find anything with the
search that relates. Just recently I've been having difficulties with the
PPC version of money not staying current with the desktop version (version is
money o4). I've uninstalled it over and over and it still gets to the point
to where it is not jiving with the desktop version. It continues to be off
by about 7-10 dollars. What the heck could be going on and is there anyone
else that is experiencing this? Thank you very much in advance for
comments/suggestions.
