 - Unable to Install Trial Version Hello, I am writing here as my last attempt before I give up on this product altogether. I am a Quicken user, but I downloaded the Trial version of Money 2005 because I was considering switching over. Unfortunately, I cannot even complete the setup process. It will not detect my internet connection, even though I am certainly connected. I tried to contact tech support, but being a trial version, I do not have a product key.  - Reconcile Madness I am still unable to "set up online" with E-Trade Bank. I understood this issue was supposed to be corrected with the new patch. It isn't. Who desinged the register "match"? Obviously wasn't an accountant. When I enter checks manually into my register and then update the account online, the only option to "match" my entered transaction with the bank's downloaded transaction, leaves me with a corrected date in the register which is the date the bank received the check, not the day I wrote the check. This leaves my checks out of order and when I search for a check thru the register it is very disorganized because of the checks being out of date. When I change the new "matched" transaction date back to the date the check was written, so that my register dates and the check number go in numeric order, the next update goes thru the same thing. Very annoying. Any fix to this?? Is there any hope for a reconcile which will reconcile to the online balance instead of the monthly statement? This is extremely confusing having been used to Quicken's system they have had for years now which can reconcile the online balance to the currently downloaded account. Multiple transactions??? Netbank, Presidential bank, and others!!! I am growing weary of "accepting transactions which have been previously accepted; or so I thought. This is my first go-round with Money. I was a very happy Quicken user until the new version is now charging banks for access to their software, so some banks are refusing to pay this and the software won't allow downloads.  - Change mapping I am now getting automatic updates from my Investment account, when I click on the downloaded information "Positions" Money is trying to add 1100 shares of something called "Money Fund (TPBJ)" to my investment account. Funny thing is I have exactually 1100 shares of FDGRX. So I am thinking somehow this FDGRX got mapped to this "Money Fund (TPBJ)" How can I change this mapping in Money so it stops trying to add 1100 shares of something I don't have? Can I also delete this investment called "Money Fund (TPBJ)" from some list in Money? I also think FDGRX is mis-classified as a stock instead of a market fund, how do I change this?  - 2005 update / MSN billpay I just did the update. I'm trying to get some of my banks to work with Money, but I'm still getting the "you must disable MSN billpay" message.  - Retirement Account - Income in Tax Estimator Update 1105 did not fix this one for me. I've got accounts identified as Retirement accounts, but dividends still appear in taxable income. Program states it's not supposed to happen and it did not happen in Money 2004. Is this a known fault? I'd think it would be wasy to fix.  - Subject: V2003 - Moneyside note? I'm running V2003 Standard. For a long time there has been a note in the "MoneySide follow-up notes" that can not be deleted. Other notes therein can be added or deleted but not this one note. When I try to delete it V2003 will say: "Money was not able complete the operation because the item no longer exists. It may have been deleted by another process". I thought that when I archived the note would go away. It didn't. It is still there. I will appreciate instructions on how to delete this note. Thanks!  - Investment Dividend Problem... I own MSFT stock, and yesterday when I opened my money file, it told me that it was going to enter the special 3.08 dividend for me effective December 10th. I said OK... everything in my file looked great - all account balances were correct. I closed money, and re-opened it. I found that money had now classified my dividend as a debit, not a credit to my account! I manually went in and changed it and everything looked fine until I closed and reopened. Back to a debit. I ran both the quick and standard fixes on my file and tried again. Same problem. I deleted the transaction and tried to reenter it. Same problem. I have had a dividend post for MSFT before, and it is correct so I don't know what the problem is. My workaround that seemed to fix the problem (at least for now) is to enter it correctly, then immediatly mark the transaction as cleared. I closed money and reopened it and everything was fine. Seems to be a bug, but money doesn't touch the transaction now since it is classified as cleared. Any other users experiece this with MSFT or other dividend? Tag: New Money 2005 Update Tag: 181059

 - Deleted Investments Re-appear in Money 05 File When I upgraded from Money 2004 I now see some investments which were deleted in the 2004 version reappear. I cannot work with these "ghost" investments as Money will not buy, sell etc with them. They appear to have been incorrectly included during the upgrade. Trying to delete etc does nothing.  - Problem with a tax-free security This is a complicated problem, please bear with me. I am using Money Premium 2005, and I started out by importing a data file from Quicken Premium 2004. This might be relevant to my problem. There is a report "Tax-Related Transactions" that I am trying to correct. I found that it was listing dividends from some of my tax-free mutual funds. This is wrong, because these dividends are certainly tax-free. By luck, I found that if I changed the relevant "dividend" transactions to "interest" transactions, these transactions would no longer appear in the report. Success. Except for one problem. I have a particular tax free exchange-traded fund that Money will not let me edit as described above. Any dividend transaction for this fund cannot be changed to an interest transaction. If I try to change dividend->interest, Money pops up an error dialog saying that this is not allowed for this type of security. So I went looking for some property of this exchange-traded fund that causes Money to impose this restriction. The only clue I have is that Money has classified this exchange-traded fund as a stock, rather than a mutual fund. I don't think that any of my other tax-free funds have been mis-classified in this manner. As an experiment, I would like to change it to a mutual fund. But I cannot figure out a way to change a stock into a mutual fund, in Money. Any suggestions? As an aside, I claim that this is a perfect example of how Microsoft fucks up the user's experience.  - 2005 Update install failure with money process not terminating after update I just let Money 2005 Premium install the update on XP Pro SP2. After the update installation there was an error message warning that money was busy, but the UI closed anyway. I tried to restart money after the update, but money says it is already running. The process viewer shows money is running, but no UI. I tried to logout of windows, but neither logout nor shutdown works, nothing happens (false returned to wm_queryendsession?). I killed the money process, and then I could logout. Logged back in, restarted money, and the version number is still 14.0.125.825 as it was before the update. What is the version number supposed to be? How do I fix money to make the update succeed and money not 'hang' around without a UI open. How do I manually apply the update?  - Duplicate Transactions not Fixed with Build 1105 Was hoping this fix would deal with the duplicate transaction issues that occur when using Online Update with accounts that are updated via Yodlee... it doesn't appear that it does.  - M05 can't delete financial provider info once added Once an account is associated an FI that Money knows about it's REALLY sticky. You can rename the FI (say rename "Discover Card" back to "Novus". But "Novus" keeps all of the "Discover Card" information including the logo. You can go into the Specify where accounts are held page and set the account to be Not held at a financial institution. Minutes of database grinding. But, unlike previous versions, there seems to be NO WAY to delete the Bank/Broker information ("Discover Card" contents now copied to name "Novus" in my playing around case) even if NO accounts are associated with this Bank/Broker. Surely there must be a way to get a mutant or undesired FI entry removed from the database. Surely there must... (Needless to say, on-net help indicates nothing for "delete bank".)  - Weirdness with Compass Bank transfers Suddenly yesterday when I try to make a transfer between accounts at Compass Bank, it won't let you do it except a week later. It said that 11/22 was the only date I could use! Today it says I have to use 11/21! Compass Bank tells me that it is supposed to be today and they cannot figure out why it is doing this all of a sudden. It is like the XFER thinks it is an EPAY. I did screen captures and mailed it to them. I had to cancel the XFER from within Money (Compass said they couldn't do it on their end, which seems really strange). Then I went to the Website and ordered the transer for today online. I have repaired the file and downloaded the latest updates for Money 05 but it still won't work correctly.  - Access at People's Bank I was not able to set up online services for Peopleâ??s Bank in 2005. I was able to do so in MSN money. I then merged the accounts. After a few days the connection no longer appeared. This is the first version of money that supposedly supports direct access at Peopleâ??s bank. Whatâ??s the problem?  - unable to install MSN money investment toolbox I am not sure if this is the right group for it, but I have not been able to install the MSN Money Investment Toolbox with IE 6.0. I have SP2 for Windows XP. I keep seeing the red X instead of the chart. I tried all the options suggested in MSN help, cookies, trust sites, security setting, remove/reinstall, etc., but none worked. I then tried to look for "support" but got no where. Any suggestion?  - Duplicate transactions from updating online I have searched and searched for answers and I can't find any. I tried calling Microsoft but they tell me to contact my computer manufacturer to answer software problems that they didn't even give me. I searched the chat and I keep seeing you respond to everyone and was wondering if you could help. I have a few problems. 1. I keep getting duplicate transactions from my bank statement when I update online. I bank with Bank of America. It is frustrating to go through your account and edit all the transactions when they keep appearing after each update. Then it will do the same thing all over again. 2.It won't let me access Wachovia 401k online update. It keeps saying account setup is unavailable when I try to initially set it up. I can manually find the funds and make my own account but I have to check every paycheck to see how much is going in and the percentage it is getting allocated to each fund. It should be simpler the other way. I have downloaded the trial version of 05 deluxe and updated from Money 2004 Basic. Is there anything I can do or am I just hopeless and lost.  - Cannot Print Portfolio Money Premium 2005 Suject self-explanatory. Print preview is also grayed out. Numerous other little gotchas relative to account balances. How did it get out of the useability lab. Some of it is as nonintuitive as it comes. This thing does not look like it was ready for prime-time on its release date.  - Quicken file conversion I am getting the following error when I try to convert my Quicken 2004 file to Money 2005 Premium. It is not that big of a file (about 6 MB) and I got plenty of disk space and memory...  - 2 Investments 1 Symbol I seem to be having this problem since the upgrade to Premium 2005. When investments are downloaded from Fidelity, one comes in as "DTv Group Fund" which is the same thing as DTV.  - Backing up In 2004 I couls backup to a floppy each time and the new file would overwrite the old file. In 2005 this does not happen. And thanks to the rest of the newsgroup posters that have lent a helping hand. I'm impressed again with the quality of the advice that can be found here for both beginning and expert Money users. And the FAQs are great resources that represent a lot of well-appreciated work. At a highest level we have updates for the following areas: a.. Issues with account balances and duplicate accounts, especially for users who have upgraded from a previous version of Money to Money '05 b.. Restoring from backups c.. MSN Money synchronization / "access your data from any computer" issues (which also supports Yodlee account aggregation) d.. Watson reports e.. Portfolio Manager (Total Return calculations, subtotal issues, issues with not displaying the "Name" column) f.. Various OFX driver/connectivity issues While we do collect feedback from a variety of sources, it is almost exclusively the result of newsgroup feedback (with support from our beta users) that we have re-enabled the double category dropdowns. We will now have a registry key to enable this described on the Product support site, and I'll relay it to this newsgroup. Thank you, again.  - After install of Money 2005 Premium 2 Years of BillPay not availab I just finished install Money 2004 Premium and decided to take advantage of the 2 years of free Bill Pay service through MSN. I selected to the Services->Service Center menu and clicked on â??getting startedâ?? under â??Two years free from MSN Bill Payâ?? and it offered only 3 months of service.  - NewBee Question We are attempting to use MS Money to track spending per category. We are stumped on how to properly generate reports based on these categories. The issue is how to handle credits. For example, lets say I buy $300 of clothing at the department store. I then return $100 of it for credit. When the credit gets posted I apply this to the exact same category as the $300 clothing expense. Since the credit is the opposite of the expense, when I do a report I expect them to both be there and the net of $200 is what I care about. It doesn't do this.  - Oh Joy! Now I can't download ANY transactions! I solved a problem like this that I was having. I installed a file monitor and I saw when I downloaded tranactions they were going into a temporary internet folder. I also saw that mnyimprt was trying to read in from the wrong file during the import. It needs to be research more, but I think the downloaded file had a name collision and the OS automatically renamed it to something that mnyimprt did not expect. The workaround I suggest is to go in to IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Files. I also deleted cookies, but that should not matter.  - Portfolio Review There's a line in my portfolio review that tells me my portfolio performance, YTD and last 12 months. Up until recently, I had a side by side comparison with the DOW, NASDAQ and S & P as well, but not anymore. Does anyone know what I did to remove it, and how to get them back?  - Balance issue I have Money05, I download transactions directly from my bank. This was working fine, balance in money matched the balance at the bank. Once I switched to the advanced register view in Money, the balance is off by about 20k. Example, bank balance = 500 and money balance and register balance in money = 20,500. Having applied the update this morning, I now find that MS Money is almost
unreadable. I can no longer see the toolbar at the top (although if I hover
over the toolbar, I can see the tooltips and can even click on an
"invisible" icon). Also, the main menu (File, Edit, etc.) is not displayed
unless I position the mouse over the menu. Almost all of the rest of the
display is unreadable (for example, the left-hand sidebar). Anyone else have
a similar problem? I am running Windows XP Pro
