Hey all,

I am wondering if anyone has seen or knows of a solution to the
following problem:

I have two grants of stock options from my company.

I set up a new investment account and use choose employee stock option
and follow the wizard to set up the details of the first grant.
Everything is ok and I then see the grant-vest-expiration entries in
the account.

I then use the new transaction button the add the second grant and go
through the wizard for employee stock options again and at the end I
receive the following message:

"Money failed to create the employee stock option Grant transaction
and cannot proceed with the creation of this employee stock option
grant. Please try the wizard again."

I had the two grants successfully entered into Money 2003 and upgraded
the file successfully into 2004. Severe file corruption caused me to
recreate the file from scratch using 2004 and then saw this problem.
Just upgraded this new file into 2005 successfully however I still
cannot add the second option grant.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
James Newman

In Help for each enter "employee option" into the Ask Money or
Search box.

In Money 2004 Help read the "Convert employee stock options from
earlier versions of Money" item.

Cal,

Thank you for responding. Based on your response I may have not been
clear on the nature of my problem.

If I make a new blank money file and create an investment account I
*CAN* easily create the entries for two employee stock option grants.

I *CANNOT* do this in my current money file. I can assume there is
some kind of corruption present in this file but that is the only
symptom. I have done both a simple and regular repair on the file and
it shows no corruption. I have also deleted the stock option
investment and the account that it is in and recreated both. When I
then try to add the second option grant that is when I get the error
mentioned before.

Thanks for your help...any new ideas?

So you were already making a separate account for each employee
option.

Nothing with a high probability of success.

You might try salv.exe from your Money 2005 installation directory
on your Money 2004 file. While I don't predict it will fix things,
it seems worth a try.

Cal,

Thanks again for sticking with this.

Ran the salv.exe to completion with no error reported.
Still no joy however.

BTW...it is one investment account with two separate option
tranactions within.

#1 100 shares @ 36.00 on 10/23/2001
#2 250 shares @ 71.86 on 5/3/2002

I can enter the first but get the error when trying to enter the
second. As stated earlier I have done this in a new "clean" file as
per the instructions.

I know that we are approaching the dreaded " your only option is to
reacreate you file" stage but without investment account export ( I
have many with many transactions) that amount of effort is
prohibitive.

Anything short of that no matter how creative I would be willing to
try!

Thanks again,

James Newman
