    - Problem when I changed my category to "Payment for Invoice" I'm using "Microsoft Money 2005 Small Business Edition" Anyone has ever experienced this? I sold a product to my customer and created an invoice. He transferred me cash to one of my accounts but I had not realized what that transfer was for. I then treated it as liability I owed him. When I knew what that trasfer was, I change that transfer to "Payment for Invoice". MS05 SB then asked me to allocate that amount to the invoice I created (same amount). I accepted and it went through with no problem. However, when I checked at my account list, the account receivable was still outstanding at the same amount before. It seemed that invoice had never been paid!! I now have to delete that transfer and re-enter it to make that invoice paid. Anyone knows how to correct this? Thanks!     - Matched Transactions Hi, I updated my Money 2005 file with transactions from my bank into my checking account. Among the transactions was an ATM transaction that closely matched one of my uncleared/unaccepted online payments. I accidentally clicked on Accept. The accept box showed the match as: Your Entry Credit Card Payment 130.00 Bank Entry Unknown Retailer 129.19 I cannot find a way to undo this match. If I try to edit the transaction, the Pay To: and Amount: fields are disabled. The actual transaction is the Unknown Retailer transaction, but the Pay To: shows Credit Card Payment. for the uncleared Credit Card Payment. Even if I try to set the category to reflect Credit Card Payment, it will have the wrong amount, as well as it has not been marked with the E for Electronically Cleared through online banking. I attempted to delete the transaction so I could re enter it correctly, and it reports "This transaction has been processed by your financial institution. If you delete it, you won't be able to inquire about it and your records may be incorrect. Do you really want to delete it?" Of course I don't want to lose the ability to track the progress of an online payment, so I click on No, then try Edit > Undo as well as ctrl+z. Neither will allow me to unmatch the transaction.     - "Cash balance" in Microsoft Money 2004/2005 Somehow I must have changed some setting in Money that is causing this problem. It started with Money 2004. I hoped it would go away when I updated to Money 2005, but it didn't. The problem is that in a brokerage account when I sell a stock the "Cash balance" value doesn't get updated. "Cash balance" doesn't get updated when I add cash to the account either. Can anyone point me to the setting I might have changed to cause this? Thanks for your help!     - How to find out why Money keep shutting down? I'm running Money Small Business 2004 on WinXP Pro. I'll open Money and come back to the computer a few minutes later to see Money has closed.     - Using v97 .mny files in 2005 I have downloaded the 2005 trial and used a copy backup of my v97 .mny file for testing. At the start of the trial there is a statement that I cannot open the information from an older version in the retail version of 2005. This doesn't sound right. Am I mis-interpreting it?     - Problem with Money 2005 HELP Hi. I just installed Money 2005 on my Windows XP SP2 laptop. When I go to the Help menu and select any of the Instructional Videos, I get a message that says, "You need a Web browser in order to view...," apparently not aware that IE is in fact installed with all the current updates.     - Corrupt MS Money Backup File On accident, I deleted my ms money file, and it is long gone, although I tried an undelete program. I tried to restore my backup file, however, disk 1 was unreadable. I was able to recover the mbf file from the floppy using some special software, but still MS Money says it is corrupt.     - Upgrading to Windows XP with Money 2005 I had Money 2005 Deluxe running on Windows 98SE. I upgraded to Windows XP. When I opened Money it asked me to rerun setup. I did. I tried then to open my *.mny file. Money wants to convert it (It's already a 2005 file so don't know why.). When I proceed it says "Money cannot locate D:\Money\mymoney.mny or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read-only file or you don't have permission to change it or your disk drive is write protected." I have tried to restore several different backup files to the same result. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled with no help. Can anyone provide some suggestions???     - M2004 SBE: Investment Gain way off Hello, in my portfolio, the calculated gain for a particular stock is way off. I even have the market value and cost basis columns side by side and the difference between them isn't the value in the gain column! Note this only happens for one particular stock, the rest are calculated correctly. Something that might be relevant: The stock split a while back and all my historical prices were retroactively updated with the "s" indicator after the price.     - Upgrade 2004 to 2005 I received a written notice from Wachovia that Money will discontinue technical support for Money 2002 and as a result, I will no longer be able to access Wachovia Online with this version. I will need to upgrade to 2005 in order to continue service. (Who is sleeping with who here?) 1. I would like for someone to verify this and that I must upgrade to continue online service. 2. I would like information on the upgrade experience from 2k2 to 2k5 from anyone who has done so - good and bad. 3. From reading the online 2k5 manual, it appears old money data will come in about as one would expect. What I can't confirm, does the institution and online data comes in as well.     - Money used to "wake-up" and ask to open when I downloaded my data from Bank I have M2001 and M2004 and when online with my bank and downloading statements, it USED to prompt me "would you like to open Money 200x ?     - Check Styles Worthless I just got M05 and went through their online check identification and purchase process. My checks just arrived and I very disturbed that M05 doesn't alow you to enter the style of check (e.g. Deluxe 80971). This check style has three sections, the top being the check, the middle, and then the bottom section for the payment record. Since M05 apparently thinks it's three checks (based on the Print options) i'm baffled as to how I am supposed to make use of the bottom two sections, which is why i bought this check style .... which of course msft said would work.     - Debt Planner Problem When I add a credit card acct to the debt planner and select that I'd like to pay 150.00/month, the planner generates a list of monthly payments, with the first one being $600.00.     - Bills & Budget Bug - Still there?! I started playing with microsoft money small business 2005, setting up bills and a budget. At first I had everything in the budget. Then I learned I could add a recurring bill and it would go into the budget. Then I found the qif files from my bank would work and started setting up the bills properly. Anyway, after making all those bills in all those categories I ended up with budgets with doubles, triples and more values in each category. The only way to get rid of them is to take everything out of that category and then remake it.     - Downloading Broker Statements When asked to select the time frame of information I wish to download from a broker, the selections are: 1. last 7 days 2. 30 days 3. Custom Range 4. Don't remember I wanted to download my info for 3/1-3/31/2005, so I went to the custom range, where I could either enter a date or go to the calendar and click on a date. But I was only allowed to enter one date. What about the second date? Isn't that what a range means? And does 30 days mean the LAST 30 days or any thirty days? Should I have used that button.     - Can't log into money file I upgraded from 2002 to 2004 (standard) last night. It converted my existing file without any problems. I was able to connect to the bank accounts and retrieve the latest transactions. I closed Money to go work on something else but when I reopened Money later it won't sign into my passport account. Same result this morning. As a result I can't use any of the online services. I went to the msn home page and signed into my passport account manually and determined that Firefox (my default browser) was blocking my cookies for the msn.com site. If I categorise the payment as a transfer between accounts, I can't budget for this item.     - Categorizing vacations? Say I go on three vacations during a year. I want to categorize spending by each vacation so I can see how much was spent per vacation. I'd also like to get a total of all three. Currently, I put each vacation expense under "Travel : Vacation" category. For the individual vacation, I use something similar to: Payee: Paris - 3/1/05" Category: Travel : Vacation Memo: Metro Ticket When I want to see what was spent for the Paris trip, I just run a report on "Paris - 3/1/05". If there is another Paris trip that year, I can run a report on it because it will have a different date. Is there a better way to do the above? It would be nice if the Payee were the real payee.     - canadian w/ us holdings i have some US stocks that money tracks for me...but it continues to apply the exchange rate to it. How do I get it to just leave it alone? for example, one of my stocks paid out a dividend in US Funds (the rest of my accts are canadian $).     - Recording company mergers I'm using Money '05 Deluxe, and using the Record a special activity | Record a merger wizard to account for an investment merger. It appears to just do matched Remove/Add Shares transactions. But it must also be somehow storing the original purchase date for the newly added shares, right?     - Money downloading into wrong account - how to fix? I am using Money 2005 Premium with Bank of America. You can download your statement directly from their web site by using Active Statemetn (i.e. .ofx). I can download my checking and savings accounts without any problems; however, ever since I went to Money 2005 I have not been able to download my credit card statement. It would download and say it downloaded successfully, and money would say 1 statement downloaded successfully, but nothing would ever show up on my BOA credit card account. Well today I figured out why. I was looking over some of my accounts and went ahead and displayed 'closed' accounts (I was looking for a transaction that had occured on an old closed account). It was then that I noticed that one of my old credit card accounts (that had been closed for years) had a balance due on it! When I opened the account I saw exactly what had happened - all of the times that I had attempted to download my BOA credit card account, the transactions where going into this old closed account!! I deleted all of those transactions, and then (for laughs) I downloaded my latest BOA credit card statement - sure enough, they went into this old, closed (non-BOA) credit card account! I can't delete this old credit account because it would screw up my balances and transactions (obviously)... So, the big question is: How can I tell Money to put the downloaded credit card statement transactions into the proper account? There must be a way to tell Money to not use the old closed account?     - Lending Money How does everyone track loans to others? Seems that the way to do it is to set up an asset account as a loan. What confuses me is how to record the transaction whereby you actually loan the money. For now, I've setup a new category for each of my loans but I can't imagine this is the right way to do it. I would have expected that you would setup the loan with the applicable terms and then transfer the amount of the loan proceeds into the asset account.     - Two accunts at same brokerage My Wife and I each have Roth IRA accounts at Fidelity. We also have a joint stock account. Thus when I set up her Roth IRA account to download into Money by using the second Fidelity download information I now find that the stock account is replicated within Money. I tried to use merge accounts but it will not allow me to do so as one is held at Fidelity and the other is held at Fidelity #2. Is their any way I can resolve it so that there is only one stock account between us? I do not see any way to declare which of the Fidelity Accounts to download with each account identification inside Money. Nor do I see anyway that Money will know that the joint account it sees using her id is the same as my account. It does see the account number so it would seem it should be smart enough to realize that they are the same account. In the long run I hope to get her power of attorney so that I can then download her account via my login identification, which will solve the problem. Till then this is messing up my records.     - Money ran out of memory while trying to retreive and display detai While updating my register based on transactions I downloaded, I get a message that "An error occurred, but Money ran out of memory while trying to retrieve and display details about what happened." And of course all I'm left with is an OK button and I can't complete what I'm doing. I've tried rebooting and running Money with nothing else going on but that doesn't help. Re-download the trial. Re-login to Passport from Money.

Next time just buy the CD and avoid problems like this.
