    - Your sign-in information doesn't match the bank's records Money is having difficulty connecting to my bank (First Internet Bank of Indiana) to direct download my transactions. This was working until about a month ago, but then suddenly stopped. I am running Money Plus Delux 17.0.120.1415 on XP. My other accounts (AmEx, brokerage accounts, etc. work properly). I have tried following the steps: 1) support message http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905695/en-us 2) uninstalling zone alarm 3) uninstalling microsoft updates for the past 2 months 4) booting in safe mode with networking 5) having my bank delete my online account, and reestablishing but in all instances I recevie an error that my account # and/or Pin is incorrect. I think I am actually reaching the bank, because after several attempts to connect my bank locks my account due to too many failed login attempts.     - Can't start Money 2007 Deluxe I have been using Money 2007 for 1.5 years with no problems until about 2 weeks ago. Now I can not start Money at all. It takes me straight to the sign in screen and it looks like it will connect and then I get an error that says "Microsoft Money has encountered a problem and nees to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It says to click for more information about this error and the reference information there is: AppName: msmoney.exe AppVer: 16.0.0.1303 ModName: msofd.dll ModVer: 16.0.0.1303 Offset: 00040a50. There is another click for technical info but it is extremely long. Based on the msofd.dll reference it seemed like a registry error to me. I uninstalled and reinstalled Money several time and different ways with no luck. I've reinstalled Windows Explorer 7 to no avail, I have no idea what else to do and I'm not finding help on the Microsoft website. Help!!! I can't handle my checking account without this program!!     - duplicate transactions I am seeing several duplicate register transactions in my bank account listing in Money 2008. I've checked my actual bank statement and that is correct, however here is what happens: -- my debit card transaction with first come thru as a VISA Purchase, etc, then it will show up as the same exact transaction but it will be listed as CHECK CARD Purchase --if I used my debit card with the PIN at the register then the transactions shows as DDA Purchase and then a few lines later it shows as POS Purchase -- for the exact same transaction! Now you might think it just does this for my debit card transaction - nope. Money will even list an ATM cash withdrawal, twice for the same transaction. I have also seen it for my automatic withdrawals for my student loan payments as well. How can I correct this ...I don't even know where to start.     - Switching Accounts on Download To Whom Can Help: MS Money 2007 has started downloading account information into the wrong account--it is swapping it with another account. This happened in a previous version of Money and I don't know how to correct it. In the previous version it was with a Banking account--two savings accounts from the same institution. In this incarnation, it is with two investment accounts--mutual fund versus brokerage account--but from the same institution. Anyone have this happen to them...anyone know of a solution?     - Using this News Group I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if I have a setup problem on my computer or there is sometimes a problem with this news group when I access it IE7. After I sign in and see an item that I want to reply to, I press on reply. After I clicked on the reply sometimes the window pos up and I am all set to reply the way I expect other times I get no response or I just get the same message that I was looking at.     - Portfolio Deluxe, wrong Cost Basis display Dear all, I have switched from Classical Protfolio to Deluxe Portfolio on MSN Money, and found out that since this change all Cost Basis values are wrong and much higher than the initial costs. For example a share bought at 88,16 ( Quantity 100) and Commission 0.0 displays a Cost basis as 8905,93 . All investments in the Portfolio have only one 'buy' transaction. I tried to play with the Commission value, but never could get the right Cost Basis Value, which remains much higher. In Classical Portfolio this problem did not occurred.     - MSM Plus Problems Hello - I just upgraded from MSM 2006 to Plus, and now my Portfolio view is having problems. 1. One of my biggest stock holdings has gone away in all of my accounts, and I cannot get it back. But if I go to Investment Activities all the transactions are there. 2. I get no totals at the bottom of my portfolio, only 0's. Or sometimes I get text displaying. I had these problems previously with Plus and went back to 2006 where all was OK. But I had to rebuild my computer so I thought I would stay with Plus and try to make it work. I tried to do a repair, but no change.     - close Hello, I use version 15.0.80.513 of Money 2006 standard edition. Whenever I close the program, I get the following message: We're sorry, but Microsoft Money has experienced an internal error and will have to restart. Please tell Money about this problem... When I press the send button and after a few moments Money restarts. I close the program. Sometimes the cycle will go on for 3 or 4 times. Sometimes the cycle will stop here.     - Account Balance Wrong I just opened a new investment account and put it into MS Money 2008 H&B. The account was started on 7/10/08 and I started it with a zero balance and confirmed that the zero balance shows in the account settings as the starting amount. If I go to portfolio manager and look at the account the correct balances show from 7/16/08 through today. If I look at portfolio manager for any earlier date the amount of cash is shown incorrectly. If I look in portfolio manager for the account and change the date to 6/15/08 (before the account even existed) it shows a large positive cash balance. I even went into the account and made every transaction as void and the same large cash balance shows. I did a detailed and quick repair with no fix. How can it possibly be wrong until 7/16/08 (when I made a sale of a fund) and then magically the cash balance and everything else is now correct.     - Budget based off of past transactions Hello All- I am using Money Plus Deluxe. Previous versions of Money let me setup a budget based off of transactions in previous months (for example, it would notice that I spent $300 dollars in gasoline, and recieved $X in salary, and would build a budget based off of that. In the current version, it seems that my only option is either the "60% Savings and Spending budget" or else the Essential Budget that just tracks income and expenses.     - Xfers not picked up Hello. Quick question, don't know if it's my bank or if I need to set something up. I bank with Navy Federal and I use the advance register, money plus (still demo version learning from quicken). I have my Navy Federal checking account conduct a transfer automatically of an amount to another checking account for a reserve for a mortage payment and the bank also pulls half a car payment from my mian checking every other week.. Each of these two "transfers" (as they show on the bank side) happen every two weeks, the night of my automatic payroll deposit. Money is not picking these transfers up and I have to add them manually. Why is that and how can I set money up to show it automatically? In the checking account where I deposit my half mortage payment every two weeks, it shows the transfer coming in automatically, but not the transfer out when I manually submit my mortgage payment.     - Quicken 2005 to Money 2006 Standard OEM I love the Money graphs and standard reports. NO comparison to Quicken. So I converted my Quicken 2005 data to Money 2006. I don't remember any error messages, but as soon as I started using reports by categories there are HUNDREDS of transactions with no categories. This means I have to look each transaction up in Quicken and then edit it in Money. Should I try another conversion?     - Money 2000 in Vista I eventually managed to install Money 2000 on my new computer by copying the CD contents onto the C drive and then running the setup as an administrator but although it has installed, it won't run... I've altered the settings so it should run in compatibility mode with xp sp2 and am running the program as an admin but when i double click the icon, all i get is the money 2000 splash screen and then it stops responding. I can't upgrade to a newer version as I'm in the UK and newer versions are designed for US market (and 2000 does fine for me!) any ideas as to what settings are blocking the program?     - After update (7-19-08), M2007 no longer connects to internet. I do not use MSN Money My Accounts (Live ID downloads). After installing a Money update on 7-19 (prompted at login to do so), Money seems to have forgotten how to contact the internet. No connection to MS online quote server and it acts like all the server addresses for my financial institutions (who provide free direct server access) are wrong. Should we keep our old versions or switch to the latest version of software? I have hundreds of hours of data entries I don't want to lose, and would like to use well into the future.     - Issues with quanity and shares when downloading from Brokerage acc Hi, I have multiple Etrade brokerage accounts and when transactions are downloaded into Money, I have an issue with the consistency with the information on paper statements. For example, when when itmes are downloaded into money, the quantity and share price often have 4-7 decimal points and when I receive my paper statement, it is rounded to 2 decimal points for share price and upto 3 for quantity. When I try to revise the change the downloaded transaction to have 2 decimal points for price and 3 for quanity, I cannot get it to equal the paper statement. Has anyone encouterd this?     - Money 2004 stopped updating stock info Hi all, Money 2004 has suddenly stopped getting stock updates (price, volume, etc.). When I updated stocks prices on July 16th, Money claimed to have also downloaded a program update and informed me of the impending loss of support for Passport. However, since then I have not been able to get any stock updates. The portfolio option to update prices from the internet is gone - all that remains in the drop list under "Update prices" is the manual update option. The "Internet Updates" button at the bottom of the window appears to initiate an update, but no new stock information is ever downloaded. I don't use Passport or background stock updates - I only have a local password on the data file and have always initiated stock updates myself. I rebooted to make sure the alleged program update was installed, but it made no difference. I uninstalled/reinstalled the software, but all that accomplished was to lose some of my GUI customization. I still can't get stock updates and the portfolio internet update option is still missing.     - Payess and Catagories Hi, please bear with me and thanks for your patience on my previous basic questions. I have searched the group for an answer and cannot find an MS FAQ to help, but I have a pretty basic question or two. I cannot figure out how to standardize Payee names. Based on advice posted, I am using the advance register, version 2008 plus deluxe. When the transactions downloaded, for exmaple, I'll see chik-fil-a and a store number various times with different store numbers (yes.. luv chick fillet) I set the setting to use standardzied payee names but I still get the store numbers. When I change one such as cf#123 to just cf, the others obviously don't change. So I tried in payee options to set any cf download with a store number to just cf, but it states I already use cf, choose something else. In acct tools->catagories and payees->payees rules manager, how do I set any download of a retailer with any variations to just one single name? Under preferred payee name on the left, I have about 5 different versions of a store such as chik-fil-a #123, chik-fil-a #456, chik-fil-a #789 etc. For 123, Iset payee name variation to just chik-fil-a, but when I try to add the same thing to entry 456, it tells me it is already being used as a payee name or variation. This is backwards from quicken where I create a variation and then assign all the various downloaded store numbers to it. Also, if I change a catagory and sub-catagory for a payee in the register, will it stick going forward?     - Problems with Money 2008 Ok I was using Money 2006 and all of the sudden my Portfolio Manager goes blank, nothing nada zilch. Investing home shows my investment accounts at the top, but when I click Portfolio Manager it goes to the page and its all blank except for the word Portfolio Manager. Any Ideas what the problem is?     - Money file repair tool keeps crashing Every month my checking account doesn't balance. When I attempt to balance it, I get an error that the starting balance is incorrect. I go back over several years worth of bank entries, rebalancing every month. I find that Money has dropped a transaction from several years ago. This has happened the last 3-4 months now with the missing trasactions appearing random.     - Custodial Accounts These threads have been super helpful in answering my questions in the past so I figure I would throw a new one out there. I am managing a custodial account for my niece but I dont want the account to be included in any budgets or reports for me. I dont want to have to maintain a seperate Money file for this either. I just want to view the account. For now, I have listed the account as a "watch" account but I am curious if anyone has dealt with this situation in the past and has a better solution. I assume that you haven't recorded (or are unable to record) the redemption
as yet in Money. If that's the case, try recording a sell instead of
redeeming it.
