On 3/24 got the prompt to update software (I assume this would be SP1) when I
opened MS Money Plus; I replied ok and Money closed. Soon after the
following appeared
"Microsoft Money software update functionality requires Windows XP Service
Pack 2 or better."
I have been running Windows XP Professional SP2 for almost 2 years (Windows
Update site knows that I have SP2 installed). Further poking revealed that
the "folder" MNYCoreFiles.NEW.{9D6EAA4F-27B2-4407-AC72-4BBD2FCB6ED1} appeared
in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money Plus
Any ideas on how to get SP1 installed??

Thanks in advance

It sounds like Money is not recognizing that you have XP SP2.
That could indicated an incomplete/failed installation of SP2.
You may want to try reinstalling or repairing the installation of SP2 and
then try Money again.

Just threw my hands up and tried something alluded to by another post. I
changed the properties for msmoney.exe and disabled windows 2000
compatability. Imagine my surprise when the update then installed. I have
no idea why W2K compat was turned on but it obviously is not necessary (or
desirable).
