 - Citibank data continuously changing My Citibank accounts have in the past always worked fine with money until that that unholy abomination of an update that they did in setember or so. The latest issue that was not fixed by throwing out years of data and starting from scrach is the data consistancy in from checking/savings/credit cards. Every time any transaction is made the date and name of the transaction changes like 5 + times making a new entry each time. as you can imagine this is a pain in the ass to keep deleting or matchine them up to others and eventualy something gets messed up . In addition to that wonderfull feature the name changes to include the the reffrence # number making each entry unique severly screwing automaticaly asigning catagories or just plain having anything to do with the payee list as every new transaction makes a "new" payee. Is there no gurenty of some form of quality data or hadeling of data? I mean this is a Microsoft product and this Citibank and supposedly some type of open standard! These are not exactly fly by night companies and they should have more than enough resources to fix this issue. I lean twords this being a microsoft issue as I have given my money to them for many years to have a product that works . If Microsoft tells citibank hey your format is crap ...fix it I would hope they would. If they don't then remove them from the list of banks.... Who's problem is this? Why does it exist?  - working with Money on a Mac I have a client who uses Money 2006 on his Mac with parallel desktop. Today I entered data but it did not save. I also tried to back it up to a CD but when I tried to work with that I got a corrupted file message. I seem to be able to use it on my PC at home.  - Why MSN BillPay? I have been using CheckFree since the days of Manage Your Money. I tried a free Bank Service some years ago. They were using a different processor and the service was definitely inferior to CheckFree. So I went back to CheckFree after a few months. Of course, now I am using it through MSN BillPay. However, my bank (USAA) has now begun offering a Bill Pay service for **FREE**. CheckFree is the bill paying service, and the interface is similar to the one at MSN BillPay. An advantage of MSN BillPay is that it is tightly integrated with Microsoft Money. With the USAA BillPay, I *must* go to the web site to initiate any transactions. (All the account information can still be downloaded directly to Money; it is only to PAY bills that I must go to the USAA web site).  - URGENT HELP - MONEY 2006 won't start at all !! This morning when I try to open money I get the message "We're sorry, but Microsoft Money has experienced an internal error and will have to restart." I don't even get to the point where it opens the data file when I get this message. I have tried rebooting. Also I have changed nothing on my PC since last night when it was working . Any ideas?  - Home loan does not appear in budget correctly Money 2007 How to fix. When using advanced budget in money 2007 my home loan automatically shows in the budget view. But it does not show as a bill in the bill screen. This causes the cash flow forcaster to not take the loan into account. Also when you go to edit the budget the loan does not appear under the debt section. If you add a bill to account for the loan then money will double count this in the budget screen. This needs to be fixed so that money will represent a true forcast and a correct budget. Also if you make a principal only payment it does not appear as actual on the budget. It is setup as a bill in money but no actuals ever get recorded.  - FSA Accounts I have money taken from my paycheck each week and placed into my FSA. In Money, I know I need to set up an FSA account and transfer money to it. But how exactly do the payments/reimbursements work? For instance, if I pay $10 to my doctor for a copay, do I pay that out of my checking or my FSA? I know that when my insurance company reimburses me the $10, I transfer that $10 from my FSA to my checking. Or at least I thought that's how it should be set up.  - Tax report incorrectly shows capital gains in tax deferred account There does not seem to be a pattern to this. When I pull up a tax-related transactions report, activity for some tax deferred accounts (IRA, 401k, 403b) is shown as investment income while activity from other tax deferred accounts is not. By activity, I mean capital gains distributions and dividends on mutual funds. I would prefer that no activity from tax deferred accounts is shown in this report because that is what is correct, and it would be more beneficial for tax planning purposes. All retirement accounts are designated as retirement accounts in the account setup. Also, the reporting is consistent from account to account.  - Entering Electronic Payee Can I enter an electronic payee simply by selecting one from the Payee drop down in the registry and have all fields filled in? When I select a Payee from the payee field in the registry, even though it's an electronic payee the Number field doesn't show Electronic Payment.  - Capital One credit card not working with Money I have had trouble adding my Capital One credit card account to Microsoft Money, and based on comments from others on the newsgroups I am not the only one. To that end, I have decided to document my journey through the land of MS and Capital One tech support to try and get this issue resolved. http://msmoneycaponesupport.blogspot.com Perhaps others with the same problem will read this documentation and agree with me. Or perhaps I am wrong and someone can give me a hand. In a nut shell, I believe that when setting up a Capital One credit card account in Money (I'm using Plus Deluxe), Money is trying to use my login information to log on to "Capital One Online Banking" instead of "Capital One Online Banking for Credit Cards" which are two completely separate services with independent login information (as confirmed by Capital One tech support).  - expense, reimbursement, budget and reprots. Hello, Often, I have a situation where handle an expense category for an income, for example when I return something to a store. Then Money warns me that I am using the wrong category, but since I know of no other way I go ahead and use the expense category. Is this the best way to handle this situation? We it causes my reports to report wrong? I more complicated situation is when my kidâ??s pay me for living expenses from the previous month.  - Advisor FYI Problem Hi, I'm using Money 2007 Deluxe and I've noticed that the Advisor FYI keeps reporting that I'm overspending in my rent category compared to my budget when I'm not. I'm using the advanced budget and my rent is a fixed amount bill and the budget stores it as a monthly withdrawal. It states that the amount planned is £2100 (my total rent for one year) so I should adjust my budget. I don't have a problem with any other categories my budget monitors. This wasn't a problem until I changed some of the categories in the Spending Tracker, I've restored the file from a backup and the problem went away until I changed the Spending Tracker categories again.  - Should I upgrade from 2004 or the Archive mistake New to this group but have been using money since 1999. I found this group today after doing something I have never done before, archiving. Luckily, since I have good backups I was ultimately able to recover from that huge mistake. I attempted to archive because it does seem that money is so much slower than in the begining. Really appreciated that today as I was trying to move around to secure info for taxes. For some reason, I only have two options: I can choose "Select All", or I can pick only one security type. There doesn't seem to be a way to do multiple-select.  - Cash Flow Forecast - Deposits listed after Withdrawals I am using Money 07 Deluxe. I have used the cash flow forecast for years (I had Money 04 previously). It has always listed the deposits for any particular day before the withdrawals for that day (the items from my Bills setup). Somehow, sometime within the past few days, the forecast started listing my deposits -last- for the day. If I click the Date header twice, the problem remains... but if I switch the Time Period from whatever it's on (say 90 days) to something else (say 12 months) and then back again (to 90 days), the deposits will then be listed first, as they should be. The problem is that after I close and reopen Money, the deposits will again be listed last. This ordering makes everything look wonky like I'm running my balances low, even though I'm not. Any ideas? This is driving me nuts! P.S. - I schedule most of my bills to be paid on my paydays, so that the forecast doesn't have giant spikes for my paychecks.  - Money Folders I would really like to see money folders implemented. Think of them as the equivalent to mason jars or another such savings mechanism... I don't want to have 30 actual bank accounts, but I'd like to allocate certain amounts to future expenses.  - switching investment charts in microsoft money plus deluxe I'm using Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe 17.0 As in Money 2004 clicking on a listed investment on the Home tab goes directly to a price chart. In the earlier program I could switch quickly between investment charts using a drop down list on the chart page. In money plus deluxe 17.0 I have to go back to Home first or the Portfolio tab.  - Income from Tax deferred Retirement account (Canadian RIFF) I am using MONEY06. I have set up a Retirment account using IRA (actually for a canadian Retirement income fund-RIFF). And within the account I have purchased a CD with annual interest payment. The IRA Retirement account correctly categorizes the interst income as "TAX-DEFERRED INCOME". Question: When I start to withdraw from the retirement account, any amount withdrawn will be deemed to be taxable pension income. What do I need to do in registering such withdrawals so that I can see them as an income in an income report. I tried redeeming a portion of the CD, and transferring the sum to a bank account.  - OFX downloading into wrong account / Disabling online banking When I download an OFX file from my financial institution for a specific checking account the transactions in the OFX file are automatically posted to another credit card account I have set up in Money 2007 under the same FI as the checking account. I have tried to disassociate the FI and the account by going to the account setting of the credit card account and removing the FI from the list but it gives me the message "a bank name must be specified for on-line enabled accounts" How do I disable this account from on- line access and get the OFX to dowload to the correct account?  - More questions about Money invoicing and reports...??? I thought I had this worked out but here I am with this problem again. Let's use this example...I just recently got paid for an invoice that consisted of 4 line items. The first 3 line items were all setup to the Sales Income category. The 4th one is shipping and was setup to go into the Shipping Paid category. I mark the invoice as paid and it puts a single deposit into the accout I specify. So far so good. I then have a custom report setup where I have all of my business categories selected in the categories list (by the way, it drives me crazy that I can't resize this window, and many others within Money..am I missing something?). When I view the report it's absolutely perfect except for this problem... It puts each of the line items on the invoice into their corresponding categories on my report. So I see 3 separate Sales Income transactions and then I also see a Shipping Paid transaction for this invoice on my report. At the very bottom of the report, though, it's including the full invoice payment as Unassigned income. So the reports actually includes the money deposited for this invoice twice. How can I make it not include the full invoice payments at the bottom since it's already including each line item in their specific category? I've looked at the categories and accounts tabs in the customization dialog of the report but I don't see anything about this. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!  - Trying to set up a mortgage account hi there I have been using money for years and generally have had no problem setting up accounts.  - Forgot password in Money 2004 I forgot my password in Money 2004. I removed the program and deleted all the files and the folder and the installed 2004 from the CD. When it was complete I started the program and it immediatley asked for the password again. I thought that by starting over I would have at least been able to open up Money. Anyone know a solution?  - Downloading Tranactions I've installed Money Plus trial. It appears to update ok but I never have items to review even though I know I have made, say, an atm withdrawal.  - Problems after undoing a spin off I'm using money 2007 and entered data for a spin off for a stock that I have owned for some time and has seen spin-offs before (I use the Spin-off wizard). I entered the wrong split infomation so attempted to "undo" the spin-off by going to "Investment transactions" and deleted the transactions that Money generated. Now I have an interesting problem: The stock no longer appears in the Account summary or Portfolio Manager, yet Money knows exactly how many shares I still own - If I enter a test sell transation for the stock, Money behaves as expected. I can generate an "Portfolio value by investment accounts" report and the stock is there but the cost basis is shown as $0. An Investment transaction report shows a price and quanity for all buy transactions. I'm confused why Money seems confused. Any ideas how I get Money to display this stock in the Portfolio manager. Another odd thing: When looking at the account register for the investment account where this stock is held, then looking viewing the "Account Summary" and then selecting "Account Update: Just let me quickly update how much I own", nothing happens.  - Bank transactions download to wrong account I have 5 accounts setup in MS Money, all for the same bank. (Charter One). I download transactions all the time for 4 of the accounts with no problem. However, there's one account that always downloads into the wrong account in MS Money. The transactions for that account always download to the first account in my "Bank Accounts" list in Money. If I rename the accounts to change the order, the transactions download to whichever account comes first alphabetically. I've had this problem with prior verions of Money, and was hoping the latest version would magically fix it. I'm running Money Plus Deluxe which I just purchased and installed in January and I still have the same problem. I tried running the "repair" option in Money and that didn't help.
