    - Money Canada I see that Money Essentials 2007 will not accept previous money data files. I saw in a previous posting that there will not be a seperate Canadian version of any of the Money 2007 versions. It says on the MS site that Money Deluxe 2007 will not open Canadian Money data files. I have 15 years of investment data recorded in my Money data file. Am I going to be hung out to dry?     - Preferred import file format I am working with a trial version of Money 2007, testing some file import options. I've discovered, via this newsgroup and other sources, that Money has some limitations in how it imports categories and subcategories. I believe I saw that Money can import both .qif and .ofx files.     - PING: Dick Watson Dick, I use M04 and direct download statements from 2 banks with five accounts and 1 broker with two accounts into my M04 accounts. All works well. I do not use a Passport and I'm happy with this procedure. After reading reviews on M07 I'm not clear on whether I will still be able to direct download my accounts into M07 unless I use the "Windows Live" (formerly Passport) procedure.     - Can't balance with missing check numbers I've been using MS Money 2003 for a long time now and this is about the first glitch I've ever seen. I'm trying to balance my checking account and I have a gap between checks 300 and 351 where I discarded a pack of checks my bank sent me because they had the wrong info on them. Would this cause Money to refuse to go further when I click the Next button to take me to my reconcilation page? After I've entered the beginning and ending balance for the period and then click Next, it just won't do anything. Do I have to list 49 checks, all saying *VOID* to make it work?     - Microsoft Money for Pocket PC - Need Help I just installed the new Microsoft Money for Pocket PC, 2006. On my old Pocket PC, I use to be able to hold my stylus on the transactoin and delete a certain transaction. On this new program, I do not know how to be able to delete anything.     - Chart date order This is weird. In 2007, if I display a chart for a payee (double click on a payee from the payee list), the chart sorts from left to right, with the most recent on the right, as it always has. But if now display a chart for a catagory, the chart now sorts from right to left, with the most recent on the left. That had me confused for some time before I noticed the date order change.     - Selecting Investments or Payees In M2003, if I were viewing a Payee or an Investment, next to the identifier for the particular Payee or Investment there would be a triangle. Selecting that triangle would bring up a navigation window to allow one to quickly jump to another Payee or Investment. I do not see this for either in M2007. Furthermore, I do not see any simple method of jumping to an investment that does not appear in the Portfolio Manager. HELP has been unrewarding. Suggestions?     - Money '06 - Credit Card Payment/Transfer???? Why does money categorize a transfer from my checking account to my savings account as an expense. The help window says to select the Credit Card Payment/Transfer category but this still records the transfer transaction as an expense. For example, If I move $500 from my checking to my savings account, my monthly report will show that I earned $500 in additional income and spent $500 in additional expense.     - How do I enter receipts? Hello, I am a brand new Money 2006 user and have a couple of questions: 1) how do I enter receipts into Money? Example: I have tons of different receipts that I've accumulated since the beginning of the year and I'd like to enter into the Money to be able to track medical expenses, groceries, etc and can't seem to figure it out. 2) My wife and I both want to be able to enter information into Money from our separate accounts (Windows XP logins) on the same computer and I thought I figured it out however, Money keeps asking me if I want to over ride the existing backup file when I browse the files for future storage.     - Want to go back to MS Money 2000 from 2006 I bought a new computer with Money 2006 already installed on it (OEM-Standard). I own MS Money 2000. When I transferred the files from the old computer and opened it with new the version of Money it seemed to be less user-friendly but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. I found out I am missing key features (forecasting balances, showing what the new balance will be when highlighting an item in bill summary, how categories are handled). These far outweight the 1 nice feature I found of showing a calendar at the bottom of the bills summary. I loaded MS Money 2000 on the computer. I can't open the MS Money 2006 file, it keeps giving me a password prompt even though I know for sure I'm enterring the correct one. My CD backup of the money data from the old computer is corrupt so I can't use it as a restore. (I would have gladly entered the last transactions again in the old version of money because I'm not sure I would like this version even if I doled out the extra cost to upgrade).     - Money 2003 - error report.dll reinstall money Trying to open money 2003 (Windows XP) and when I try to type the password w/ the first key stroke it says error occurred loading the component report.dll.     - money 2007 account setupas Hello, I have Money 2006 and 2007. I am trying to setup my accounts fresh in 2007. So far I have one credit card account setup and I have my personal checking account with bank "a". When I try to add a second business checking account also with bank "a" it wants my online update login info. I don't have any and it wont proceed without it. If I give it my Windows Live info it just says it couldn't login and ends the setup. Is there some setting I can change to get Money 2007 to just let me setup my accounts manually?     - Unable to Login to Passport through Money For the past two days whenever I try to login to Money 2006 I get an error message that basically says "Your Sign In Information Can't Be Verified". I googled the error and found a knowledge base article on the subject. I have since tried each method (except the last two) in the article and nothing has worked. Any suggestions (besides trying the last two methods)? The login worked fine on Thursday and stopped working Friday.     - Manually adding a transaction requires manually entering category I posted about this before and didn't get a resolution. Before I buy a new financial package can anyone tell me if you personally can enter a transaction manually in Money 2006 and when the transaction downloads from the bank it not only moves it to the register but also adds the category. Everything everyone has told me to look at in reference to this was already set the way they asked me to change it.At this point I'd like to know if this works for anyone or is this just a feature that should have been in Money but wasn't included.     - Taxes in Budget are overstated.... I get paid bi-weekly. Say I have $200 a month taken out in Federal Income Tax and when I enter my direct depoist it shows the correct amount being allocated. When I set up my budget I show $200 a month under Federeal Income Tax. Everything should be good, except when I look at the "Budgeted Amount" it shows $325 under the amount! All of the other tax items are also overstating! Any idea why??? I have tried to change this and make multiple choices on the budget amounts but they are all being overstated. When I look at my Budget reports, it lists a bunch of transactions (all from the same account) that are under the heading "expenses not in budget" in the Monthly Budget report.     - missing transactions since 2006 upgrade I have been using Money 2003 Deluxe for 3 years without problem. Recently I updated to Money 2006 Deluxe. One of my brokerage accounts is now losing transactions. I captured the log files, and I can see that Money seems to be asking for the right dates, for example: <DTSTART>20060824 <DTEND>20060825 The last update was 8/23, so this would appear correct. In the RS file, these dates are also recorded. But the transactions start on 8/25, not 8/24. And the 8/24 transactions are not tranmitted. Oddly, this worked fine in Money 2003. Is there a way to reset or change Money's "last updated" field, so I can get all the transactions ? Any help or advise would be appreciated.     - 2004 and 2006 on same PC - cache question Can one of the MVPs help me out? Background - I run M2004 Deluxe and M2006 Deluxe on my PC because I can see portfolio views on M04 that I can't see on M06. (if you want to discuss that - please reply in a new thread so this doesn't get polluted.) If I run M2006 and THEN shutdown right away - or then try to open M04, I get the message " Microsoft Money is running...". I 've seen it here that it's a known bug- fine. Well today I thought I'd go in and look at the registry to see why and I saw some CACHE references in there - that's why I'm posting this. Why under M2006 App Path Cache does it use my M2004 folder and more importantly why does it want to know that ? My reason for asking : assume M06 crashes - will it restart itself AND open M2004 and try to "fix it" - thereby polluting both databases ? If so, can I change JUST the info in "AppPathCache15.0 " to point to my M06 folder and fix it - or is it referenced in the program itself / other places too ?     - Money 2006 not starting after signing process Since yesterday (08-24-06) I am unbale to get into my Money 2006; it starts and asks for my e-mail and password in the 'Sign in to open your Money file' but after this a 'Microsoft Money Error Reporting' message shows stating an internal error and will have to restart the 'Error signature' shows: "AppName: msmoney.exe AppVer: 15.0.0.513 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00000000" and a techical information file (C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\fdr2168.fdr) about the error report can be viewed.     - Budget in 2007 I'm not able to place all of my specific income categories into the budget. When I upgraded from 2006 home and business to 2007 it did not recognize my old budget. I find adding categories next to impossible using "edit budget". There should be an easy way to view the "cash flow" report and then add whatever categories into the budget but I have yet to find out how to do just that.     - Transfer of assets to a new account, along with their history--Is this possible in M06 Bank of America Investments has forced many of us into new accounts in order to preserve our self directed investment status inherited from Quick and Reilly. They are, 2 years latter, assigning us new account numbers, if we do not wish full service accounts and the accompanying higher commissions. In attempting to transfer my assets from the old BAISI account into the new one, I noticed that the history of the asset-e.g the purchase price--is not transferred. Instead the new account has only the shares added (uploaded form the new account data online) and the price and date assigned to the asset are as teh date of transfer, not aquisition. In addition, there is no further info about dividends, original purchase date, etc. When I go to sell something out of the new account, I would manually have to go to the old account to find this data, and the reports that I generate based on either account are now inaccurate, as is the info displayed in portfolio manager. Is it better just to change the old account number to the new account number. I will get two separate 1099's from BAISI, but it still may be easier in the long run to track assets and make investment decisions. Or perhaps it is better to export data from the old account, and then import it into the new account. Then close the old account, so the displays will not show the same assets twice.     - Data file disappeared...what now Last night (money 2003 premium home and business), I closed my money file as normal. However, I had forgotten to enter something, so I went back to open the file again. WHen I did, I got that little searchlight dialog telling me that it couldn't find my money file. The file had just disappeared into the ether. Were I smarter (and appropriately cynical of Microsoft software quality), I would have immediately opened the backup file. However, instead, I went out looking for my Money file. I found one that I hadn't used in a while and - stupid me - I opened it. That file then overwrote my backup file. Now I face the prospect of having lost 12 months worth of financial data (during a particularly active year). I'm beside myself. I didn't delete the original .mny file - the one that my computer can't find. It's not in my recycle bin, or any other folder near where my money files are kept. It's like it just evaporated.     - Support turned out to be a waste of effort I opened up an email problem report with MS support to report a new Money 2007 bug about a week ago. That worked sorta ok for the first couple of days. Despite the bug being reproduced in a freshly created file, the guy still wanted me to try file repair and exporting/importing my file. It was a waste of time but I did it anyway. Repair did nothing of course. It was a freshly built from scratch file just to demonstrate the problem. so there was nothing to repair. I gave them clear instructions for how to reproduce the problem, and I also offered to email them my test filel, but they never attempted recreating the problem per my instructions, nor ever replied to my offer to send them my test file. Since file repair and export/import did nothing, the first guy finally escalated to the next level, and this is where it fell apart. The 2nd level support won't work the issue via email and his working hours are such that I can't be home when he's working. I requested that we continue working via email but he never replied again.     - Account Balance Widget/Gadget? Good morning from a newsgroup newbie! I'm running Money 2006 Deluxe on my PC and I'm trying to find ways for my wife and I to be reminded of the balance in our checking account. So I'm wondering if any of these can be done: 1. Have more of a client/server setup where the data files are on my server and my wife and I each have an installation of the software. 2. Access account information and have the balances displayed on our desktops. Sort of like a widget or gadget. Maybe someone knows how to write something like this in C# or Visual Basic? 3. Have the account balance sent to our phones once or twice each day. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it. Also, I'd love to hear any different suggestions too!     - Transfering Money from account to account I am having problems transfering money from account to account or paying off my credit cards in Money 05. All my accounts are set at automatically downloading the transactions. In my checking account a payment of 500 dollars was transferred to my savings account (sep bank). In my savings account, 500 dollars was recieved. In my reports section in Money it shows the 500 dollars, in the category Credit Card Payments/Transfers which I assigned, as the largest spending by Category for the month. Also it is the 2nd largest in spending by Payee. I dont want the report to show this as an expense and as income, but rather a simple transfer. What am I doing wrong?     - Ameritrade downloads stopped working About a month ago Ameritrade downloads stopped working, into Money 2004 Update log says "there is a problem with the data received from this online provider. If the problem persists, call the providers customer service number for help" Download about 10 other FI's with no problems. In addition about a week ago my hard disk crapped out, and I had to reinstall everything on a new disk. Problem remains. Deleted Ameritrade online services and re-enabled, but do difference. Talked with Ameritrade today, and they say everything on their side is fine, and it must be Microsoft. Anyone else have problems with Ameritrade?     - Transaction download problems after 2006 upgrade I have been using Money Deluxe 2003 with no problems for 3 years. Recently I upgraded to Money Deluxe 2006. Most of my accounts work fine. But one investment account does not download all transactions correctly. Originally after the upgrade, it downloaded only the account positions with no transactions. I stopped automatic downloands, and then re-enabled them. This then did download all the missing transactions. I thought this solved the problem. But after a few days, it seems to be downloading only the most recent transaction, skipping the others in between that it missed. I have recently switched from Money 2005 UK to 2007 US. Glyn Simpson pointed
me to a solution to a planner problem, and since then all has been well.
However, (a) last week my Passport/Windows Live userid/password stopped
working for a few hours (but worked fine on MSN, Hotmail, etc.) and then (b)
online updates of prices and exchange rates stopped working. The Passport
problem has disappeared, but the prices/exchange rate problem remains.
However, I am able to successfully update my US bank accounts and the MSN
Money My Account updates are also working. The message for Quotes, News, and
Exchange Rates simply says that I am unable to connect to the quotes server.
Using that server via the Excel MSN Money Quotes Add-In works fine.

Any hints?
