Starting Over
Old computer bit the dust, I have only my backup floppys
and the Money 98 CD. I've installed it (having removed
the Money 2002 program on the newer computer) but can't
figure out how to make it work. I tried dragging and
dropping, and the files appear to be in the folder, but

Processing returns/credits
How should I handle returns? For instance, let's say
that during November I purchased $300 in clothing from
Lazarus, using my debit card, but returned $50. The
store credited my checking account the $50 for the
return. I enter the transaction as a credit to the payee
(Lazarus). Does MS Money then think I've spent $250 on
clothes for the month, or $350? My bottom line is that I
want the expense categories to accurately reflect
expenses and it's not at all unusual for me to make
clothing returns as I'm the primary buyer for my family.

im still using the trial version, which i hoped would have advanced

Why Not Totals on Scheduled Transaction Report?
One thing I've been hoping for is that a scheduled transaction report
would show a dollar total. I'm up to Money 2003 now, and it's still
not available.
Since it's been this way through several upgrades, I presume it's a
conscious choice by the program's developers. But how come?

Date Range on Report in Money 2003
I have a favorite report in Money 2003 which lists scheduled payments
within a range of dates.
My file was upgraded from Money 2000.
I used to have the problem of the report omitting many of the
scheduled transactions within the date range. That was fixed by
running the Salvage program.
Now the problem is the other way around: the report shows transactions
BEYOND the date range, as well as those within.
Is there a fix for that? I still have the Salvage program. :-)

Epays and Apays Not Marked in Money 2003
I have a number of Epay or Apay transactions in a Money 2003 account
which aren't marked that way in the account register, even though
they're listed in the recently sent electronic payments.
Since they're not marked, I can change payment details or delete them,
like any non-electronic payment. And I can't cancel them, since
they're not marked as electronic; fortunately, I don't need to.
Is this a known problem? Is there a way to mark these transactions as
electronic?
If it helps: I recently changed from another provider to MSN Bill Pay.
But the transactions I speak of are all recorded there, so it's not a
question of old electronic payments being "undone" when I cancelled
the old service.

Budget-Income items ID'd as "Bill Paid in Full"????
In M2004 [upgraded from 2001, 2000, 1999, etc.] my Budget Income shows a
series of entries: e. g., "Bill paid in full [01/2004]", etc., each with a
date corresponding to an entry in Bills & Deposits reflecting income from
sources outside of accounts in my Money file.
Why do these entries in Budget all say "Bill paid in full" rather than
reflecting the corresponding entries in Bills & Deposits which detail the
exact source (e.g., "xxTrust Income-Indianna Proj Bond 5%/15")?

Whenever I try to use Money Help, no help information
appears beyond what is shown in the "Contents" or
the "Topics found:", when I click on a content item or a
topic found I get the message "Unable to load topic. CLick
here to try again" -- of course "try again" does not work.
I have searched the Knowledge Base and applied all
the "fixes" -- none work!
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and repaired Money--no
change.
Some of the Knowledge Base articles say to delete the
Temporary Internet Files -- did that, no change (why in
the world is Money relying on the Temporary Internet Files
anyway?) -- so I have even uninstalled, reinstalled, and
repaired Internet Explorer, no change.
Any suggestions?

I have money 99 with 5 years accounts on it working fine until recently when
I had to re install windows xp home. I reinstalled money on to my new boot
disk but although I have back ups on my old hard drive and on 3 floppies,

My OS is WindowsXP Home. Recently I installed Money 2004
Standard but it doesn't run. I get an error msg
everytime I try to start Money. It's something like

I've posted this problem and got one suggestion already
but it didn't work. (Thanks, Bonnie!) I'm hoping that I
can get more suggestions as to how to resolve this

When I go to the Accounts & Bills -> Cash Flow Review, I get an error

My checking account and credit card balance listed on the
account list page is different than the ending balnce
listed in the account ledger(i.e. from account list page
click on the account). The account ledger is correct.
There seems to be a specific transaction that was posted
in the account ledger and reflected in the ending balnce
but does not change the balance on the account list
page. I have deleteed and reentered the transaction. I
have balanced the accounts. Nothing seems to correct

Trouble importing Quicken 2004 data
I have used Money for years and am very used to it. I got
married this year and my new wife is used to using
Quicken so I have all this year's data in Quicken 2004. I
thought I would see if I could transfer data back into
Money, as there are various aspects of Quicken that I
don't like - having got used to Money's way of doing it
and which I prefer. I downloaded the trial version of
Money 2004 Deluxe and when I import data, I get all the
accounts imported, but the entries are empty. Has anyone
any suggestions as to what I am either doing wrong or I
can do to correct this problem?

Call Progress - Freezes
Recently I cloned my boot drive and replaced it. All of
my apps are working great except for MS Money. Now,
whenever I choose to do an Internet Update, I get a
blank "Call Progress Dialog" - It used to say things
like "Updating Service Providers", "Downloading
Statements", etc... but now it never gets to that point,
and the dialog remains empty and frozen.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling MSMoney 2004 to
no avail. Does anybody have a suggestion? I'd hate to
reinstall Windows...

the software wants to include how much cash I have

Canadian Banks not listed!
I just bought Money 2004 'CANADIAN' edition. There are
no Canadian Banks listed. I tried following the advice
for regional settings and to switch to US and back. None
worked.

I'm having difficulty structuring my question so it's

investment entry. I would like to delete names in this

Passport stopped working for 2003
Similar problem to recent Thread "Passport logon Fails"
Previously working system now gets the following dialogs on Logon
"Money cannot connect to the .Net Passport servers"
Then "The sign-in attempt for <my logon> was unsuccessful"
A manual logon to Passport still works just fine.
I have tried removing and reinstalling Money and also the
re-registration of msxml3.dll with no success.
I know it is not a network problem because the copy of Money on my
laptop works just fine.
I am stuck!!
Any ideas?

My OS is WinXP Home Ed. I just bought Money 2004
Standard. After installation, I tried to start the
application but an error occured and shut it down.

Money 2003 investment accounts subtotal
I have 4 investment accounts setup. 3 of them will not
show a roll-up for all the investments in those account,
and as you'd expect, the Investment Accounts Subtotal
(accounts list view) does not include any ammounts from
those 3 accounts. The subtotal for all accounts therefor
equals that of the only 1 account that is summing up its
data correctly.
I have looked all over and can find no info about such a
problem. Any ideas?

Registering Trial Version
I'm having trouble registering Money 2004. My HD crashed
and I had to redownload the trial version. When I start
it to enter my registration information, it tells me the
trial has expired and then shuts down and doesn't give me
the opportunity enter the activation number that was

Missing transactions?
In my Account List view, I see that there
are "Transactions to read: 13" for my checking account.
However, when I go to my checking account, there are no
unread transactions! Note that I do have "View: All
Transactions covering All Dates" selected as the view, so
I would expect to see all of the transactions.
I've been using MS Money for years, and this is the first
time this problem has come up. Does anyone have any
suggestions on how to resolve this?

Money 2004 unable to sign-on passport
For the past 6 or 7 days, I've been unable to logon to my passport through
the msmoney signon screen. I get a message stating that the user-id or
password is invalid. But I know that they are correct. I can still work -
just can't download my transactions from moneycentral because I can't
sign-on with my passport.
I am not having any problems using my passport id/password for MSNMessenger
as well as moneycentral.msn.com. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone

Transmission died while making electronic payment
BlankI created an electronic payment and submitted it, but my bank's
computer never acknowledged it. After 10" elapsed without anything
happening, I disconnected from my dial-up ISP hoping that Money 2004 would
timeout, but it didn't. Now, Money refuses to process any further
electronic payments or even an e-mail (using Money) to my bank because Money
is still waiting for an acknowledgement on a transaction that it thinks is
still in process. I deleted the transaction hoping that would take care of
it, but it did not. I'll confirm with my bank tomorrow that no transmission
was received, but assuming no transmission was received by the bank, how can
I nudge Money to forget about it and move on? Alternatively, what if my
bank informs me that they did receive a transmission and now I've deleted

Please help. Money will give me an error a various
points, including when I create a new file. The error
code is HRESULT=0x800700c1 and money tells me to contact
Microsoft Technical Support. I have tried to contact tech
support but it refuses to recognize my Product ID (serial
number).
I have tried running the repair function within MSMoney
and have downloaded the salvage utility but neither could
find anything wrong with my files.
Please help me fix my data files, or figure out a way to
get support from Microsoft without paying $35. Thanks.
