Hi,

I've been running the standard UK version of Money 2005 on 64-bit Vista
Business with no problems.

I've just got a copy of the UK version of Money 2005 Financial Suite, and
have installed it - as far as I can tell, the installation proceeded
normally.

However, now I can't open any of my Money files. When I try, it tells me it
needs to convert them, then says that it can't find the file it's trying to
convert or that it may be read-only or I may not have permissions to access
it.

I'm running Money as administrator.

Should I have completely uninstalled the standard version first before
installing the Financial Suite?

Any assistance gratefully received...

Very soon after M2005 was released MS had to issue a big patch. If you
install M2005 out of the box it doesn't have this patch.

The simplest way to cause this patch to be downloaded is to run the freshly
installed 2005 FS, but point it at the sample.mny file. It should then tell
you that it needs to download a patch.

When that is done you can go back to your normal .mny file and it should now
read it OK.

Either open the sample.mny file in your install folder, or let
Money 2005 create a new Money file, clicking Decline in the
process. It will do an update. Close Money. Then open Money and
check that Help->About... says you then have version 14.0.*.1105.

Then you should be able to open or restore your existing files.
