An update brought new investments buys into my Fidelity brokerage of Money
and Money crashed after. This is Money 2007 Home & Business.
A search of Money Support page stated this problem was due to a Logitech
wireless mouse driver. Microsoft states: Uninstall mouse, update driver or
get a different mouse. I found there was an update to the wireless keyboard +
mouse combo driver (2.40.849 to 4.40.88).
Reboot, no luck, Money starts up, loads data, crunching for a bit and
crashed again with the dialog box that it encountered a problem... blah,
blah, blah, do you want to send a report to Microsoft.
Microsoft support is $35.00 just to ask for help on their bug!! What
arrogance!!
I created a new Money file and then restored an old backup, before I did
the Fidelity update. Money works fine. I repeat the brokerage update, accept
the transactions and Money crashes the exact same way.
I see there are reports of this error on past Money versions.

Any new updates on how to resolve this problem with Money 2007?

You are mistaken.

In XP, open Windows Explorer. Browse to Sample.mny in your Money
install folder. Open that file by right-clicking and choosing Open.
Does Money open? If not, you could reinstall Money, or you could
restore XP to a Restore Point from a few days ago.

In Vista it is similar, but run Sample.mny as Administrator.

If Sample.mny opens, first go to Help->About, and write down your
serial number. Use that as the product ID for free support. Then
consider restoring your latest or second-latest backup.
Alternatively you could try to repair your *.mny file with salv.exe.
Salv.exe is typically in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money
2007\MNYCoreFiles".
