    - Problems with Vanguard Fund Data I believe I have set up my accounts correctly and download active money statements from Vanguard, but although I have a total of about 6 different funds, the transactions all get lumped into 2 or 3 of them.     - Add Shares - HELP! I downloaded my stock trading information directly from Penson Financial Services. When I imported the data into Money the program decided that it needed to "ADD SHARES" to makes sure that I wouldn't have a negative balance of shares in my account. But the program didn't do it correctly, giving me many more ADD SHARES than I need. When I go through and reconcile the register with the Excel Spreadsheet that I also created with the data, I find that I'll have three or more ADD SHARES when the account would zero out without them. When I try to delete the additional ADD SHARES from the register, I'm told that the shares cannot be deleted because it will cause my share count to fall below zero. THAT'S JUST NOT TRUE! The positions reconcile perfectly with my spreadsheet. The spreadsheet shows that the shares match and zero out. Why can't I delete those extra lines of ADD SHARES?     - 401K Contibutions & actual balance I see a lot of 401k questions posted but none that seem to help me, so I apologize in advance if this has already been answered. I have my paychecks transferring my 401k Contribution & company match to my 401k Investment account. My balance only shows those totals. Each paycheck some stock & shares of other funds are automatically purchased, publicly traded and not. My problem is I can't get electronic downloads of the transactions and their market value. How should I handle those investment transactions? If I just add them & update them my total will be doubled (Plus Market Change) because of my paycheck contributions. I guess what I need is my 401k investment transactions minus my paycheck contributions for the number to be accurate. Does anyone have any recommendations?     - multiple empty accounts showed up I have three accounts with Broker X, which I've tracked for some time with Money (2006 Premium). Only one of them was set up for automatic updates. As soon as I enabled the other two for automatic updates, Money created SEVEN new empty accounts ("Broker X Cash Account", "Broker X Cash Account #2", ... "Broker X Margin Account", etc.) separate from the two I wanted to connect. Next thing I know, I have NINE pending statements for these seven imaginary and empty accounts, displaying "bank balance" totalling somewhere in the range of $200,000! Good grief!     - go back to report always at bottom When I am looking at a transaction report in money and leave it for some reason, when I go back, it always goes to the bottom of the report. Let's say, I right click on a transaction and choose to go to that transaction. It will take me to that transaction in the register. If I then click on the left arrow (or press <alt><left arrow> or click on the <back> button on my mouse), the report will reappear, but it will not be displaying the transaction I just left. It displays the final "page" of the report, not the front of the report, which includes the transaction. I find this irritating. It is not the same behavior you get when jumping between accounts on either side of a transfer. So, is there a work-around (like a setting) better than scrolling to the top each time?     - Thanks Microsoft! I will save a ton of money upgrading software from this point forward. Each version of Money is worse than the one preceding it. I would just be happy if the program would download the updates from my institutions on a consistent basis. I do not understand how all my financial institutions have a problem at the same time. I might be able to get updates to my checking account if I try the update button five or six times. Another problem with Microsoft's program is how MoneyCentral has to download the information first then pass it along to me. Is this really necessary? Why can't money just connect directly with my bank? Another problem is how duplicate transactions get crested over and over again. How many times does one have accept something before it disappears? Like I said before, I will save a lot of money because I am never buying a newer version again.     - Corrupt Money file appears to create system instability Looking for some help and assistance correcting an apparently corrupt Money file that results in my laptop rebooting when I have Money open (but not immediately on open). Worked with MS support to try file repair (level 2 fails), then selectively deleted the accounts that appeared to cause problem (Amex and Schwab). Repair files executes successfully when accounts are deleted.     - Money 2005 stuck on "Update in progress" The account list shows all of my automatically updating accounts are "Update in progress." When I try an update, the stock and fund quotes update fine. None of the accounts (credit cards, etc.) update. Three successive message boxes appear - the first two only for a second. 1. Updating account information 2. Processing Service Updates 3. Update not complete. Then the update results show an error message for each account: "Microsoft Money could not update your account. Please try to update your account again." Or "Your account information is being updated, which may take a few minutes..." I have found numerous similar complaints on the newsgroups but nothing has helped so far.     - budget not tracking a category correctly I've set up a category and set up the budget to track it. But for some reason, the "thermometer" at the bottom of the check register is only keeping track of certain debits from that category. For instance, for this month, it says I've spent $350 of my allocated $600 in that category, but in reality, I've spent over $400. When I double click the thermometer to see the itemized debits, some are missing. But when I go back to the check register to see if I've categorized them correctly, I have. Is it possible the subcategory is throwing it out of the category? Often, when I'm recording the transaction, I'll change the category that Money automatically assigns it to the one I've set up.     - Money is limited to one credit card account per credit card company. My wife and I have seperate american express card accounts (not 2 cards on the same account). On the web we have separate login ids and passwords to Amex. Money seems to assume and only allows one logon id per financial institution for automatic downloads.     - Money 2006 premium Upgrade I currently use Money 2004 Std A couple of days ago on lauching Money there was an offer to upgrade to Money 2006 Premium at a price about $12 (after rebate) lower than usual....I think after rebate it worked out to around $37.95.     - Failed Login - Passport info cannot be verified. Just bought Money 2006 Standard (Canadian Edition), and installed the program without difficulties.     - Pay Bill Download Algorithum Hi, to avoid confusion, I am starting a new thread on questions that I posted on 3/22 and 3/24 on this subject My wife and I use Microsoft Money 2004 to keep track of our finances. We both set up checking accounts, one checking account for my wife and another checking account for myself. We both use our bank for automatic Bill Payments (Pay Bill) and have run into a problem when the banks transactions are downloaded into Money 2004. My wife created automatic Bill Payments for companies that she makes reoccurring payments to and I created automatic Bill Payments for companies that I make monthly payments to. The bank assigned numeric numbers for Payees (i.e. the first Payee #1, the second Payee #2,â?¦) for each company that my wife created an automatic Bill Payment for and did the same for each payee that I created an automatic Bill Payments for. The problem is that my wife''s Payees are different than my Payees and the bank makes automatic payments to these Payees but when the data is downloaded into Money 2004, the Payees become interchanged. When I download the bank transactions to Microsoft Money 2004, Money does not differentiate my payees from my wifeâ??s payees so when I try and reconcile my account, it includes some of the names of my wifeâ??s payees and when my wife reconciles her account, some of my payees appear in her checking account. I have looked at (opened) the Money OFX.DLL file but was unable to make sense of the contents of this file and guess that this is a mapping / algorithm problem? I sure would appreciate help so that my payees are downloaded to my account and my wifeâ??s payees are downloaded into her account. In other words: I have a 3 year history of the 401k in MS Money, and now I have my new positions on the 401k website, but I am missing one set of transactions which would make my Money balance out with the website.     - No Unread Statements, but Statements to read? Hi, After I download my statements from Fidelity and another similar institution, I get a page with the results of the download. At the top is a caption which tells me how many unread statements I have. There is a column to the left labeled Unread which may have an arrow pointing to one or more statements. Sometimes, even though the page caption says their are no unread statements, there are arrows in the Unread column to one or more accounts, and occasionally, there are in fact transactions when I review the individual account.     - Investment activities and tax reporting I have an investment account. There are some transactions in it which correspond to 'Activity = Dividend'. Their amounts are 'transfer'ed to a checking account. In the checking account, I see 'Category = Transfer From : investment account'. These transactions cannot be added to a 'tax line'. This will give you the choice of opening or saving the file. If you want to view it, opt to save it. To send it to Notepad, open the "sendto" folder (Start - Run - Sendto will do that), right click in the folder, select new - then shortcut - then enter "notepad.exe". Go back to the folder where the ofx file is located, right-click, send to, select notepad. I am not quite sure what you mean by open a folder in Explorer, go to Tools - Folder Options, File Types -- scroll down to the OFX file, click on advanced, and then click on "confirm open after download". By Explorer do you mean Internet Explorer? I did a search for OFX and found an OFX.DLL file which I tried to open with NotePad and when I opened it, I got gobiligoog.     - ameriprise one account and money 2006 for the life of me, i can't seem to get ms money to pull down my ameriprise one account transactions. i called ameriprise, and they said the account was set up correctly they gave me the ms money toll free number :-( when i click add account, i choose investment, and then ameriprise from the list of institutions, it then throws up a dialog box saying that i'm already tracking ameriprise accounts with the account xxacctxx, is the new account tied to the account xxacctxx? i answer yes (i am tracking other accounts at ameriprise, and i'm using the account xxacctxx) money then tells me i should perform an update to my account (i'm assuming that is the little opposing arrows symbol in the upper right hand corner of the ms money screen. when i do that, it doesn't say it found a new account and would i like to start tracking it. i have tried creating a new .mny file, money can't find the ameriprise one account (though it finds the other accounts) i have tried removing online access to all my accounts, and adding them back. no luck anyone else have an ameriprise one account talking to ms money 2006? jd Tag: Money 2001 Deluxe file compatibility with Money 2006? computer and have built up a considerable history of money data. I just
ordered a new computer with Windows XP Professional and would like to run MS
Money 2006 Small Business edition on the new PC and retain the history I've
built. If I purchase MS Money 2006 Small Business edition for my new
computer, will my MS Money 2001 files be readable/importable on the 2006
version? Or do I need to do some incremental updates on MS Money? If the
latter, please specify what versions I'll need to upgrade through.

It **should** be. You **may** need to go through M04. In the case of the
*Business* edition, this may be complicated.
