Hi
Have been using Quicken V8 for a lot of years say 10+!! Thought it was
about time to update and as Quicken doesn't support upgrades from my
version to the current one thought I may as well change to Money 2005
Deluxe.

The only way to bring all my old data across was by exporting it to
'.qif' files and importing it into Money. Well I have just finished
doing this and the resultant Money file is 444MB and the program is
understandably running VERY SLOWLY. The quicken data file is 10MB....
Is there a way to compress it or is a huge file size for money normal?

perplexed

No, that is not normal. What I would do is first, see if you can
bring it into line with File->RepairMoneyFile->QuickFileRepair. That
may well get things to a more reasonable size, and it won't hurt.

After that it may well still compress on its own later. Compressing
is not something that you control, but it happens every so often.

wow! that's huge!!! if you can open the file, then close it (after perhaps
doing something in it), the file should reduce in size...

Maybe run a repair on the file too, that might help sort it out. It should,
over time reduce but obviously if it is really slow to open then this might
take a while
