I have created 5 custom "Payee Reports" and have marked them as Favorites.
But when I try to make changes to these reports (changing the date range),
Money does not allow me to make these custom changes to each report. Rather,
it modifies the master "Payee Report" and forces my changes on all custom
"Favorite" reports. Hopefully I've explained this well....am I missing
something? Seems like it you take the time to create a custom report, save
it as a favorite, you should be able to go back and make individual changes.

I can't duplicate your problem.

Try changing the Title when you customize.

I can, sort of. If I revise an existing custom report, then save it under a
different name, the original custom report saves the changes, as well. It
takes a few back-and-forth saves between the two versions to create distinct
custom reports based on a model report.

Great idea...worked for me (now let's see I can can do it a second time...I
too had to switch back and forth).
