    - Your sign-incould not be verified I just got money 2005 and am trying to install it. When I enter my email address and password it comes back and says "Your sign-incould not be verified, Go online, and then reenter your sign in information." I tried registering the dll and flushing the files. I want to use the product but it just won't work. Help please.     - Why does catagorizing "negative" expenses not work I did catagorize the income as a "negative" expense. That's how I did it on Yahoo! but for some reason the amount in that catagory still is the same as it was before I catagorized the income as an expense. I have a bank service charge of $18 and then I get a $18 credit from the bank. But even though I catagorized the credit under the same expense catagory I still have $18 show up for bank service charges in my spending by catagory pie chart.     - Clearing a class I imported some files from Quicken 2005. They had classifications. I changed the structure so they are no longer needed. Was able to remove the items in the class, but "Class1" still shows through the application. How do I remove that, please?     - EPay is gone in MSN Bill Pay via Money? I just set up Money 2005, along with a new MSN Bill Pay and integrated it into Money. Previous to Money 2005, I was able to set a bill as epay in Money. In M2005, I don't see that option. If I'm not doing anything wrong, do we have to set it as direct debit and manage it on the MSN Bill Pay web page? Seems weird to have to do all that, when the product handled it well for the last 8 versions (or whatever). Thanks!     - Can't sign in with Passport using Money 2005 I get into my Money file almost everyday and it has been working fine. I save my password so I just click on the SIGNIN button everytime I start Money. Suddenly today, this doesn't work and I get an error box that says "The email address or password is incorrect". There is no error. I can sign into other Passport applications with no problem. I have retyped everything multiple times, tried to go back to a backup file and followed the process in KB article 331123 (registering dll and clearing internet cache) I am desperate to pay some bills. This whole Passport thing is really getting under my skin. Even after all these years, they can't seem to make it work 100% of the time. I have had similar problems with every version of Money and am starting to think maybe I should switch to Quicken.     - Money05 Deluxe Hangs when working with Catagories When I try to move a Category or Delete a Category that has transactions in it Money locks up and I just get a hourglass that will sit there forever and the rest of my OS gets real quirky and slow. I have to Ctrl Alt Delete to shut down Money. When I reopen the transactions that I was attempting to move have moved to the new Category and all seems well(I guess). I'm more then a little nervous that I'm going to end up damaging my file. I gotta say I'm a little disgusted at this point, just got through spending a day working out a lot of the online quirks and now this.     - Balancing in Reverse Hi All, Is there any way to balance a credit card account starting now and going backward in time. I have an account that goes back to 1997 that I never balanced because I had the account before I ever used Money, and when I started it was too painful to go back and do it retroactively. But now it's getting frustrating not to be able to balance. I'd like to balance starting now, and then go back a month at a time when I feel like it, but I can't see any way to do this because balancing seems like a forward-in-time process.     - Bill pay update When I try to update my online bill pay services in M05 (coming from M02) There is a warning to read "critical update information" first. When I try to read it I get an error message; 'c:\program files\microsoft money 2005\mnycorefiles\webcache\MSNBillPayKB.htm' cannot be opened. Be sure to include the apprporiate protocol header for this website in the URL if necessary blah blah blah.................. Any idea what this crirtical info is and if it's so darn critical why it isn't there? I am afraid to upgrade without reading it because I don't want to screw up my on line bill paying which has been working fine just as it is for years.     - Memorizing Category for Each Payee When I import qif files (either from my own Excel spreadsheet or from my credit card company) most of my common transactions come in with proper payee names and categories. However, some of these transactions won't "learn" the proper category. They come in uncategorized. I know where the payee list is, but all that has is address, phone, and account information. I also know where to go to translate the raw transaction name from my bank into a more meaningful payee name. Those two things offer no help when it comes to categories though. Where do I go to add or edit the categories assigned to incoming transactions? Quicken called this the "memorized transaction" list. I just can't find the same thing in Money. If that's not possible, how can I force Money to "learn" and use a category for a particular payee? Thanks!     - MSN Money Portfolio (web) & Helpful Info) First, is this the right forum to discuss issues or questions about using the MSN Money Portfolio web application? If so, I've had a problem restoring a backup following the purchase of a new pc. Several but not all former dividend/interest entries are shown "in the red". I have tried to change them but they change back after I close the program. Also, the changes don't appear to effect the balances...but I am not absolutely sure. I am loathe to take on all of the work to check it out if it isn't necessary. Help with this program is scant. Does anyone have a helpful suggestion? Secondly, the new pc came with a copy of Money 2004. Sadly I spent hours trying to figure out why I could not import or restore my mny files from the web or my back-up CD. After searching the KB articles many times I accidently found the answer.... The web version of Money is 2005 (duh) and the files are not backwards convertable to a previous version, my Money 2004. I do not have a qif file to import from either. Does anyone know a work around this? I welcome any comments or suggestions!     - UK Money 2005 Portfolio Valuation View is blank I tried to customise the Porfolio Valuation view, which seems to have corrupted itself. It no longer displays any lines and just correctly displays the total in the blue area of the screen. On clicking Change Portfolio view | customise current view | Portfolio Culumns Tab shows that the Display column box is empty. Clicking on the reset to default button re-populates the box and saving does not rectify the problem.     - Your thoughts on Money 2005? After reading through the posts today, here are some of my thoughts on Money 2005 and how to resolve some of the issues. #1 MS should offer a 15 year anniversary edition of MS Money 98 that works on WinXP... #2 Undo all the extras. Give us a Basic Edition product that allows us to balance the checkbook, manually download our QIF/OFX files, do a budget and add a calendar to remind us of bills...that's it. Remove the bloat that really makes MS 2005 slower and buggy. #3 Allow a feature that will let us revert back to a former version. Sure, you tell us to backup our previous data, but that previous data becomes corrupted somehow. I'd like to be able to try out a new version for a while, and if I don't like it, I should be able to export my MS 2005 file back into MS '98..with all new transactions going with it and not having to manually re-enter everything.     - changing the default invoice templates! Dear All I have MM 2005 Small Business. I want to edit the default templates for invoices (as I have to add my company number and VAT number to them..) I can do this, and save them within the Invoice Designer. But they don't show up in the templates list within Money! Any ideas?     - Investments Price History Chart First, let me say since I have complained about some things in Money lately that I have found something they really did well. I wasn't really sure where my 401K contributions were going when I withheld them in my Paycheck setup. I finally got around to setting up my 401K account correctly and thanks to the umpfaq, I got my employer contributions setup correctly. The investment side of things is very nice. Easy to use and great to track my retirement account. One tip I have discovered. My plan is through Vanguard and their online transaction history only shows 3 decimal places for the # of shares purchased. I was running into a problem when I entered their # of shares and the share price, it would be a few cents off on the amount. Since Money won't let you enter it incorrectly, I found that you can go out of order in Money and enter the share price and the amount and it will calculate the # of shares for you. Probably obvious to some, but it took me a few minutes. Now for my question... I like the Price History chart that shows the price history for your investment. Does anyone know of a way to data points to this chart that shows when you purchased shares? All of the data needed is in Money, I just can't find a way to do it.     - MSN Investment Toolbox Hello, Money 2004. I was wondering exactly what the MSN Investment Toolbox is. The site mentioned, before I downloaded it, that you could track your portfolio with the toolbox. It also said that it included a screener and advanced charting. I already handle my investment accounts in Money. When I downloaded the software and went on to use the site, it looked an awful lot like the Portfolio area of Money. I guess what I would like to know is is the software some sort of 'Money lite'? What I mean is do you use it in conjunction with your Money software and existing file, or is it a web-based application that does not require Money. I would like to use the stock screener from within Money. Is this possible? I guess I am having trouble asking this question because I am not quite sure what the toolbox entails in itself versus what is merely a functionality of the site. Also, I just spent a lot of time getting my personal financial data off of MSN's servers and I would rather not put it back on. Is there any way to prevent this? Finally, I tried everywhere to find some sort of users guide for the toolbox to help me understand exactly what is going on, but no luck. Is there one? I appreciate the help.     - Applying Classifications We used to own a family car, but today I bought my 2nd one. I want to be able to know expenses for each one. So TODAY I added a Classification: Cars Subclass: Car1, Car2 All previous expenses were for car 1, but from now on, each expense category must be from one of the 2 subclasses.     - Money 2003 Upgrade to 2005 Any help is greatly appreciated ... I just upgraded my Money 2003 Deluxe to the and 2005 Deluxe version. During the upgrade proces, the program inidcated my money file (.mnf) was successfully upgraded. When I enter the 2005 program and open my money account, the program freezes. I cannot get beyond the welcome screen. I have tried re-booting, opening up my 2003 file and restoring my 2003 backup.     - Incorrect Balance Amount on Account List Page The account list page shows the balance of one of my credit card's incorrectly. If however, I click on the credit card account, it shows the correct amount owed. Also, if I sort by unreconciled transactions, it shows the incorrect amount listed on the account list page.     - Account balance is different I notice that in my Checking account the balance is correct in detail view if I show all transactions. Unfortunately, the summary balance on the banking page is different and incorrect. I also notice that if I show only the unreconciled transactions in detail view, that the account total is the same incorrect number as the summary view.     - Feature I would like to see in future version I have such a hard time keeping track of all the medical bills and deductibles and such. I wish MS Money had a feature to deal with keeping track of medical bills. Almost like the 401K manager or something along that line. I could enter my health insurance parameters: co-pay, deductible, maximum out of pocket, etc. and then MS Money would keep track of how much I will owe.     - Money and slow computers --- CPU's?? I've used MSMoney since 98. I'm currently using V2003 on a computer that I built with a minimum speed CPU. I'm using Win98. Many things in Money work great but sometime the program is very slow!! I think I have everything turned off to gain a little performance. The box that MSM came in recommends a CPU speed of 300 mhz. The error can be recreated as follows: 1: set up a file using CA$ as base currency and an exchange rate of US$1 =CA$1.2 2: set up an investment account in US$ 3: 1/Jan/05, buy 1 share of MSFT @ US$100 (exchange rate US$1=CA$1.5 4: 2/Jan/05, sell 1 share of MSFT @ US$100 (exchange rate US$1=CA$1.3 5: Go to Reports-taxes-capital gains and display the capital gains, it will show: Capital Gains Investment account name 01/Jan/05 through 31/12/05 Investment Quantity Date Bought Date Sold Sale Proceeds Purchase Cost Gain/Loss MICROSOFT 1 01/01/05 02/01/05 US$108.33 us$125.00 (US$16.67) This is OBVIOUSLY incorrect, since a report in US$ should show ZERO gain/loss. The problem is that although the report says it is in US$, in reality, Money04 converts each transaction using the transaction exchange rate to C$, then reconverts back to US$ using the master exchange rate from OPTIONS.     - How to remove an account from Online Banking I have an account that has been closed recently (because of a ID theft issue) at a bank that I have other online accounts with. I have marked the account as close and MS Money still wants to download the bankning transaction, but since the account is closed it errors everytime.     - Question about credit card accounts and budgets I have setup a credit card account and I want to track my balance, so I setup a transfer from checking to the CC account. It shows up in my budget under Transfers, but on all the budget reports (like Spending By Category or Weekly Spending), it doesn't show up. It seems like I have tried every different way to setup my accounts so I can budget payments and track the balance, but there's always one thing that doesn't work correctly. Can someone explain the "right" way to set up a basic checking and debt account so I can budget things and track the balance? And, no, I don't want to use the Debt Reduction Planner.     - Renewed faith in MS Money I'm not a MS stockholder but wanted to convey a renewed faith in the MS Money application. I was using 2002 on a Pentium 2 with about 28MB of data back to the early 90's. For a while, I was one of those that was complaining on and off this list, seriously reviewing the alternatives like Moneydance, and seriously considering the jump, etc. I got distraught at the number of comments against 2005. My biggest complaint was the bulkiness of just opening and closing the file. I was concernced that one little hiccup would forever corrupt my file. Well, I bought a new Dell that came with 2004 Deluxe the other day. The new PC is not super fast by today's standards, but a low-end Pentium 4. I have to admit, it is like night and day opening and closing my MS Money file. I would guess 80% of my improvement may have come from the new disk drive. I didn't see alot of differences in features between 2002 vs 2004. However, the performance improvements were immense. At this stage, performance is what I'd like to see MS continue. I'm not sure there are too many features that would help me in day-to-day personal finance management for my family. To whom it may concern,

I have upgraded to Money 2005 and seem to have found a bug.

I used to have three credit cards from the same source. I closed one of the
accounts but still perform online updates on the other two. I want to keep
the closed account linked to the same bank - keeps the contact information
correct, but I do not like to see the error (or like the thought) that comes
with the attempt to synchronize the closed account. In 2004 I did not see
this problem. Any suggestions? Anyone else seeing this problem?
