Hi
I am interested in knowing if there is anyway to import
csv/sxls files into microsoft money? I have recently

Massive Random Upgrade Corruption in Money 2005
In going from Money 2004 to 2005 I am getting random corruption. I have
done the upgrade multiple times and get different results each time. There
are three main problems that I have been able to identify already.
1. Opening Balances on accounts reset to 0.
2. Upcoming bills duplicated up to 10 times.
3. Categories duplicated up to 5 times.
All 3 problems can be time consumingly repaired manually. However I have a
fear of the problems I don't see. Also it really scares me that it changes
everytime I do the upgrade. I have been using Money since '97 and have had
little problems with online downloads and logins. This is by far the worst

Alright--with all of the craziness going on here, I
decided to buy 2005 deluxe.
I may get shot for this: but, I like it. Everything
converted just fine.
A couple of points:
1. I ran the Standard Error Checker on the .mny file to
ensure it was clean.
2. I made a backup copy (and another just in case!)
3. I installed 2005; however, I created a new .mny file
FIRST instead of letting it do the conversion without
doing the updates.
4. I let the updates download and install; then, I
converted the file.
LASTLY: When I downloaded my c/c accounts I did get a
DUPLICATE. WHY? It is the OTHER credit card in my
wife's name. All I did was "close" the account and it
went away.

Any news from the Sync front?
Hi everybody.
Did somebody have any success in getting the Bill Pay and
sync function to work? As for me, I was with Support on
chat for hours and also submitted some issues, they don't
even know what's going on. It didn't even look like they
are aware of the problem. Thay repeatedly told me that
this is way it is.
I hope we will get this thing done pretty soon.

Hi,
All of a sudden when I close money 99 I get a fatal
exception OE 0177:BFF2DE73. I have uninstalled the program
and reinstalled and still have the problem.....Any ideas?

Backing up Money File to CD
Hello. I have been trying to figure out how to backup my
family financial file in Money to a CD-RW. I can't seem
to find the way to select the CD drive. Money only offers
backup to a floppy drive. Does anyone know how to do this?

Money 2005 Small Business - Custom Invoices gone after upgrade from 2k4?
I upgraded from Money 2k4 Small Business (SB) to Money 2k5
SB last week - and my custom invoice is gone! I've seen
some other posts on this but nothing definitive (yes,
I'ver searched first; TechNet too.)
Fortunately, I said a copy of the invoices to a .INV file
(when I had the portrait/landscape fiasco in 2k4). SO, I
go into Money Invoice Designer and import it. Comes in
fine, and I see my invoice - but when I save it an exit,
the invoice STILL isn't there.
In Money, I tried to import the .INV file, and I get an
error saying it can't import items made before 2002 - wtf?
Do we have a definitive answer on this? I use Money SB to
actually BILL my clients and I can't without my invoice.
Well, I suppose I *can* using a generic/default
invoice...but c'mon, how professional is THAT going to
look?

Unable to set-up on-line accounts
Just in case others are having this problem. I purchased
MS 2005 Deluxe two weeks ago and just installed this past
weekend. Totally frustrated. I was unable to setup on-
line accounts so that I can download by banking
information. I kept getting error message "unable to
process try again later" . I called Microsoft support and
they indicated that this is a known bug and there will be
an update either today or tomorrow (9/28).
I hope the update is available today otherwise the
software is totally useless to me.

Anybody know how to import Quicken QHI Home Inventory
files into Money. I finally switched after Quicken no
longer did anything new. This is one area Microsoft did

Money 2005 Small Biz Edition
I am having a problem with the small biz edition of Money
2005. I am not that familiar with the product so hopefully
this will be an easy fix, but according to all the
Microsfot directions, I am doing everything correctly.
I want to create a custom invoice for my company, so I
used the invoice designer and saved it to where ever it
defaults to. OnceI did that, I put all the appropriate
customer info in, and created the invoice. I went to print
it, and it did not have my custom invoice as a selection
possibility, nor was there an option to locate the
template. If I do a step by step according to the
directions according to Microsofts directions, I am doing
everything correctly.
Is there something I might be missing or have forgotten to
do?
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Comments on Microsoft Money 2005 Premium
Since 1998, I've been a Microsoft Money user. Over the years, I've
upgraded my version a few times. However for the last two years, I've
used MS Money 2003 Deluxe. I decided to pass on MS Money 2004, and I
purchased Money 2005 Premium on Friday.
For the last couple of months, I was curious about the new features of
the product, and read these news groups for some clues. So now that
I've used the product myself, I figure that I'll pass along my
thoughts:
MS Money 2005 is only slighly better than MS Money 2003. In earnest, I
found very few differences between the two programs. The home page
provides mostly the same information. The tabs on top were also the
same: Accounts, Bills, Portfolio, etc. The general interface has not
changed at all.
However there were some new features that I liked, and some features
that they have not improved upon which was disappointing. Keep in mind
that some of these updates may have been done in the 2004 version. I
recognize this. Here are my two bis:
1) The best improvement in the product is the ability to track up to
three specific budget categories for overages. This appears on the
home page. For me there are plenty of budget categories that stay the
same each month (i.e. rent, cable, etc.), but there are those that
change (i.e. food: groceries, food: dining out, etc.). Being able to
easily track these categories is a benefit. However, why did Microsoft
limit the number of categories to 3? Hopefully in 2006, MS will allow
users to track an unlimited number?
2) I think that the ability to use MS Money 2005 online is good. It is
a great improvement over the www.moneycentral.com feature in MS Money
2003 which never really worked. The new feature appears to give you
better access to your accounts. HOWEVER, in the overall scope of
things, this feature is not that useful. I use yodlee.com to access my
accounts online, and that yodlee website is so great that I cannot see
myself using moneycentral online. The yodlee.com website can give you
the most updated information on your accounts. Yodlee.com also has
access to more accounts. [I discuss this issue below in greater
deatil].
**** ALERT: I had problems updating from Money 2003 to 2005. Two
years ago, I tried using the moneycentral functionality with 2003. I
quickly realized that moneycentral was not that great, and abandoned
the accounts online. When I booted Money 2005 for the first time, the
program synced with moneycentral, and uploaded old account information
from moneycentral into Money 2005. It was a problem because these old
accounts had the same names as some of my current accounts. I was
nervious erasing these old accounts because I didn't want to accidently
erase my current accounts.
3) PROBLEM: After upgrading from 2003 to 2005, I found that a lot of my
investment accounts were no longer balanced. It seems that all of my
sales were being recorded as expenses. The cash accounts for these
investment accounts now had huge negative balances. Here was my
solution: I went to each of the sale transactions on the investment
account, and I toggled the "transfer to" account from the correct cash
account to a different cash account and then back to the correct cash
account. This fixed the problem. However it took about an hour to
fix, and was frustrating.
4) I've read about people complaining about the speed of Money 2005. I
find the program to be no slower or faster than 2003.
5) Here's something that's frustrating. Www.yodlee.com is able to
scrub a user's financial websites and pull off information. I don't
understand why MS Money can't use the same technology to pull
information from banks and investment houses that are not compatible
with MS Money, but still have online services. Microsoft says they
incorporate yodlee in their product, but obviously they are not using
some of yodlee's best features. It's really fustrating to have to do
any type of manual input into the program.
6) Lastly, this is not a knock on 2005 Premium, but on the these types
of programs in general. The planning functions are rather simplistic,
and cannot take into account the specifics that a user needs to make
the planner useful for one's own case. For instance with the budget
planner, it's really annoying that the program will disribute over
twelve months a one-time expected expense or receipt. This just throws
off the entire budget. The long term planner is absolutely ridiculous
because no one can make these kind of assumptions thirty years into the
future.
7) On a postive note, the program seems to do a better job at the
investment performance chart (this is found on the monthly reports
page). In the 2003 version, the chart was never accurate. At least
for my accounts.
Again overall, I found the 2005 Premium program to be almost identical
to the 2003 Deluxe program. The program has no new programs. It only
carries over some of the old ones. However, as an avid user of MS
Money. I thought it was worth the money. In fact, I purchased it from
Microsoft, and here's the deal I got. It cost me about $85 (tax and
shipping included), but I got the $30 rebate from MS, and a $9.99 from
Money magazine. If you read the fine print, you can get a rebate
instead of actually subscribing. I also got $10 off my next Microsoft
purchase as long as it's before November 30, 2004.

File Names for MSN Portfolio and for MSMoney05
I am tryng to employ syndhronization with M05. Although it takes overnight,
eventually my portfolio as kept in M05 then is available on MSN. When I
close MSN it asks to save my file to the same name that M05 uses. Is this
correct. Are they now in fact the same file, just available in two
different places--on my local computer and on MSN servers, or should they be
saved on my computer under two different file names as they were before I
upgraded to M05. If I do not allow the MSN to back up onto my computer (to
avoid my original file from being overwritten), then M05 thinks that it
cannot synchronize and asks me to reestablish itself as the origin of the
master file, or at least offers me the choice. Thus, I have ow been able to
view my portfolio on MSN, but have not been able to synch it with M05. Any

Download Report
Money 2004 under the Report menu, I believe, used to have
a Download Report. What was nice about this is that I
could see my banks balance as well as Money's balance.
Now this feature is move to some obscure place.

Even though I found the symbols for all the investments I
entered through the search feature of MS Money it only
updates part of it. For some reason prices especially for
international stocks are not updated online. Any

MS Money 2002
I installed SP2 about one week ago. The installation went well. I have
WinXP Pro. But when I try to access Money 2002, the program says that I
need an upgrade to IE. I went to the IE upgrade site, but the only thing
that was available was updates to IE5. (I have the latest IE6 on my

MSM2005 no bank connect
MS support, When I try to setup a regular bank checking
account i get a bank cannot connect at this time for the
past two weeks.
When I set up an "Other" account and try to downbload the
bank info all the withdrawls go into the deposits on MS$.
Very bizare behavior and I have confirmed this
information with four other users. Two of which use
Washington Mutual and the other two use MBNA. Two large
national banks - this could be a software bug please
advise....

portfolio value over time
I run Money 2004 and i can't do some things i think are
really basic - main two (related issues) that bother me
are: 1) is there any way to view the value of my entire
investment portfolio over time (e.g. as a chart showing
basically just price * volume of shares i own for each
investment, combined to show all investments together)?
2) is there any way to view price history for all my
holdings as an indexed value (0% at the start growing up
or down based on % change in price) as opposed to
absolute value? Some shares are $20 each some are $200
each - doesn't make sense to show on the same graph

Cannot Add Deposit to Bill Calander
When I go to bill calander to add a recurring deposit I
only get an option to add bill. Is there any work around
to this problem?
I thought it was a bug so I installed Money 2005 to

M2005- Account Setup Unavailable
In addition to the sync problems and the total mess Billpay has become, I
have now realized that regardless of bank or provider, if I try to configure
online services I get the message "Account setup is temporarily unavailable.

Money 2005 & Gainskeeper Problem
I upgraded to Money 2005 Small Business Edition. I also signed up for
the 1 year free Grainskeeper offer.
A probelm exits when trying to import mutual fund activity from Money
2005 into Gainskeeper. The Gainskeeper program only recognizes stock
equity transactions and not mutual fund transactions.
Any and all help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Classifications in view
When looking at my accounts I usually have "View -> All transaction details"
selected.
This view has always had a 3 line display for each entry with Payee as the
1st line, category and sub category as the 2nd line and memo on the third
line. Now the view has changed and there are 4 lines displayed. The new
line now is "Classification 1" I want to get rid of this. I don't use
Classifications and only recently learned of Classifications when I was
editing my list of categories and payees. I'm assuming that when I simply
looked at my classifications MS Money got it in its head that I want to see
them in my accounts. How do I turn this off and get back to my 3 line
display.

MONEY2005: What happened to custom currences??
Hi all,
Just install Money SBE05.
In SBE04 I had custom currencies because it was not listed. Everything
worked fine. When I upgraded to 05 the custom currency got lost and all my
transaction amounts have been converted to the base currency.
Is there a workaround??

Money 2005 Small Business
Help:
Installed Money 2005 SB and when I use my passport to
sign in, Money starts breifly and then crashes with the
Money Error reporting tool popping up. It then restarts
and if I signin again, it crashes but if I work offline,
I am ok until I want to go online. I uninstalled and
reinstalled with not change. Any suggestions.

Money 2003 Can - Lost CD, have Cert of Auth...
I have lost my MS Money 2003 CD Canadian Edition, but I
have my Cert of Authenticity. I blew up my machine and am
reinstalling everything on the same machine it was on before.
Is there anyway I can download the Install files from
somewhere to reinstall?
I'm willing to call MS support and give my Cert
information, but I'm not sure that is necessary.

Money 2005 success
I installed Money 2005 in a vmware session so I could test a conversion of
my Money 2004 file. This file was 23MB in size and contains ~10 years of
data.
Everything converted fine. All the balances are correct. Even my stock
account (Ameritrade) and 401K accounts are ok.
The Bills/Deposits section is all correct. No old, deleted items magically
reappared. None of the frequencies changed.
I was able to download all my statements just as before (well except for
Ameritrade but that doesn't work in Money 2004 right now either). I didn't
have to assign my NET account to the Money file to download bank
transactions.
I'm surprised I have had no problems with it. At this point the only
complaint I have is relatively minor: there is less usable space for the
register. Because of the extra crap at the top, it shows 4 or 5 less
register entries than Money 2004.
Just thought I'd share my experience so far. I may work with 2005 along
with 2004 for a week or so before I decide to install it on my main

Money SBE 2005 & Washington Mutual Small Business Banking
I purchased Money 2005 Small Business about a week ago. I
have been able to setup all my accounts accept for my
bank accounts which are accessible through Washington
Mutual's Small Business banking. According to Microsoft's
website Money 2005 supports WAMU Business Banking and I
see the option under new accounts, however when I click
it in Money I get sent to the Yodlee account page, which
does not have Washington Mutual Business Banking listed??
Any ideas?

Remove old Money Program
I am trying to remove Money 2000 from my laptop. When I
use the Remove Program function in Control Panel, I get a
message that I need the origninal disk to delete the
program; I do not have it. As I recall it was a freebe I
experimented with.
When I search for file that contain the word "MONEY", I
find a folder named MONEY and files named MONEY.CAB,
MoneyReg.EXE, Moneyhlp.js and msmoney.exe a total of just
under 23 MB.
If I try to delete the MONEY folder, I get an error
msg "Cannot delete folder because cannot read the source
file or disk". If I delete any of the files they are
removed from the directory where the SEARCH function
found them (a temp file under Documents and Settings) and
appear in the SEARCH results as being located
in "appl.zip/money".
Any ideas of how I can remove this program? I really
need the space.

Reallocate funds in budget
In Money 2004 Premium, you can reallocate funds within
your budget to cover overspending in a category.
However, it is limited to only the month prior and after
the current month to pull funds from.
Does Money 2005 have the option of reallocating from a

OFC filetype no longer recognized in 2005?
I have recently replaced Money 2004 with Money 2005. The upgrade appeared
to break the OFC filetype registration (I have no filetype registration for
OFC). My web statements send OFC files that used to be opened by
mnyimprt.exe and be handled just fine. It doesn't even work now if I
register the OFC files with mnyimprt.exe manually.
I have uninstalled, run the mnyclean utility and reinstalled, all to no
avail. Any ideas?

Money 2003 not starting after installation
Hi. I tried to start Money 2003 and it gives me a
message that says "Cannot display End User License
Agreement which must be displayed and accepted before you
can use this application. To display the agreement,
reinstall the application."
I backed up my file and reinstalled Money, but it is
still giving me this message. I've been using money for
a while. I didn't just install this for the first time.
It just all of a sudden started to do this. If anyone
can help me I would be much appreciated.

Money 2005 backup causes temp file to appear and not go away.
when ever I back up my money file i get the backup and a 0kb temp file
labeled rw1.tmp. If i dont delete and back upagain i get a file named

Restoring Account Balanced Confirmation Screen?
Hi
I've recently purchased Microsoft Works Suite 7, which includes MS
Money Deluxe. Very user friendly and easy to use and understand BUT in
my usual curious way of getting to know my way around things I clicked
on the "Don't Show Me This Again" tick box in the Confirmation message
that you get when you balance an account (as at #5 in these
instructions below which I copied from an earlier usenet posting)
Microsoft Money 2000 or Later

To reconcile an account:
1. Enter information from the bank statement. To do this:
a. On the Account Register window, click "Balance this
account". If this is
your first time reconciling this account, and you
receive the Why Balance?
dialog box, read the information, and then click
Next.
b. In the Statement Date box, type the date of the
current statement.
c. In the "Ending balance" box, type the ending balance
from your bank
statement.
d. If the statement shows interest earned or service
charges paid, enter
these details.
e. Click Next to continue balancing the account.
2. After you click Next, the statement starting balance is
verified against your
Microsoft Money account.
- If there is a starting balance discrepancy, follow
the instructions in the
"Your account doesn't balance with your statement"
warning message.
- If the starting balance is correct, unreconciled
transactions are
displayed in Top Line Only view.
3. Mark every transaction that has cleared the bank as
cleared. To do this:
a. For each transaction you want to clear, click
the "C" column.
b. When all transactions have been cleared, click Next.
4. If Money detects a discrepancy, a message explains how
to correct the
problem.
5. When the account balances properly, a confirmation
message is displayed.
Money marks each cleared transaction as reconciled, and
you are returned to
the register view.
I can't find any way of restoring this confirmation message, even
checking through the various options that seem to exist in Tools ->
Options -> Editing. Am I looking in the wrong place or have I lost
this confirmation box for good?

Need to correct inventory in MS Money Dlx & Bus.
I have MS Money Deluxe and Business 2003, I need to
decrease the inventory of a product because the original
amount was entered incorrectly. However, it seems that
my only choices are to charge the change as personal use
or as a business expense, neither of which this is! I
just entered the quantity incorrectly and need to correct

T.Rowe Price downloads
After installing MN05 deluxe from MN04 everything works
perfectly except for downloading data from T.Rowe Price.
After digging down into the program, it seems that either
the program or the T.Rowe Price site is not adding
webstatements login Page. This was working in the 04
version but seems to have disappeared. Can someone who
knows this webpage please post it so that I can cut and
paste it into my program?

Is there any way to pring out the bill calendar? Quicken
allowed you to do this and it was one of the more awesome
features in Quicken.
