In previous versions you were able to select several bills at once and see
what you balance would be after paying selected bills.

Sorry about that, how can you select several bills and see what your balance
will be without acutaly paying the bills?

By deferring posting. You can then do that on the page for sending the
bills to the bank. You cannot do that in the standard scheduled bills list.
It's not the same functionality, but not far off. Also, it only applies to
pays, not checks or other transaction types.
