    - electronic banking and the clearing of transactions I have just started electronic banking, and I notice that the date of the transaction in Money changes when the bank clears the check. For instance, I can enter the check transaction in Money on 1/1, but when the bank clears the check, Money changes the date of the transaction to the date the check clears.     - Microsoft Money Printing After I "upgraded" to Quicken Personal Plus 2002SE I found I could no longer print with colour in reports. Putting this down to my ancient printer and driver troubles I grizzled a bit but carried on. Recently I "upgraded" to Quicken Personal Plus 2004, which wasn't worth the money and still wouldn't print in colour. I just bought a HP multi-function printer (brilliant hardware with truly atrocious software). To get it working proerly I had to rebuild my Win2K PC from scratch, which of course led me into the Quicken re-registration minefield. After finally getting Quicken 2004 re-installed & working it still doesn't print in colour. During my re-registration battle I found out from Quicken support that colour printing in reports had been deliberately removed from the product. Now I've just discovered that Quicken does't actually use the negative format from Windows regional settings either so you're stuck with -$x,xxx, like it or not. Frankly, this is unforgiveable and just about the last straw. As I'm making much more use of reporting now I'm not content to simply grizzle any longer - I need proper reporting. All of which explains why I'd like to know if the version of Microsoft Money on sale in Australia will print in colour (or even color <grin>) and if it's reporting abilities are any good. Maybe a Quicken user out there knows how to change the format of negative numbers in reports. As a Quicken user of more than ten years, it'd be a wrench to change but really I've about had it with Intuit.     - taxutil.dll - Unable to start Money I have been using Money2000 successfully for the last 4 years. I tried to start it today and I received the error "MSMONEY caused an exception 10H in module TAXUTIL.DLL at 017f: 295b207a.". I checked my system and this dll is still there.     - line of credit - checking acct overdraft protection i set up a line of credit acct in money 2003 tied to my checking account. this is credit card acting like an overdraft protection acct. if i overdraw my chekcing acct, it deposits money into the checking acct. cannot figure out how to track this in money. should i do it as with a credit card - track the "expense" (deposits into my checking acct) in the line of credit acct, and then treat the payments to the line of credit account from the checking acct as transfers?     - Money 2003 Archival problem Computer=DELL Inspiron 2650 running Windows SP Home Version, and EOM loaded Money 2003 Ver 11.0. When attempting to archive everything prior to 1/1/2003, a diagnostic window comes up that says: This disk where :A:\2002Archive.mny" is being stored is full. You need to make room on your disk by removing files you no longer need. The floppy is clean and reformatted. I am able to copy files to the floppy; therefore, the diagnostic can't be a physical or OS problem. The issue is within Money 2003. DELL doesn't provide tech support for OEM software and neither does MicroSoft. Have you previously heard of this problem? Do you know how to resolve the issue? Thank you for any help you can provide.     - Categories Reassigned when importing I have switched my Money 2002 files to a different computer, and when I open the files, anything that was in a custom category has been reassigned to one of Money's default categories. The new categories aren't even close to being correct. For instance, all receipts that used to be in the Auto:Fuel subcategory are now in Auto: Loan Principal Receieved. Also, my custom categories no longer appear in the categories list. I am running Money 2002 on a Windows XP machine, and I sync my Money files with my Pocket PC.     - Synchronization problem I've recently run into a problem attempting to synchronize my Money file with MSN. I'm using Money 2004. I've synchronized with moneycentral for several years, but since upgrading to 2004 have been having troubles and now cannot synchronize at all. In attempting to solve the problem I have recently deleted all accounts on MSN. When I select "Access my Money data on the web," from Money 2004 I get the set up screen, click "Setup" and get the following message: "An unexpected error has occurred. Your data is not being synchronized with MSN Money on the web." Occassionally, I will get through one more screen which shows all of the accounts that will be set up, but then get the same message after attempting to synchronize. My main interest is getting my portfolio synchronized from Money to the web. I am able to import from the portfolio on moneycentral, but only as a onetime snapshot. This does not maintain any synchronization between the Money file and moneycentral. I've searched the FAQ and google archives of this group and have not found any solutions. I did try uninstalling and reinstalling Money 2004 with no improvement. I've also tried repairing my Money file also with no improvement. Thanks for any advice anyone might be able to offer.     - Does Money 2004 Canadian support investement tracking? Hi, I used to use Money 2000 Dulex (Canadian version). Due to some bugs there I upgrade it to 2004. But I just realize that the canadina version doesn't support investment (stock, mutual func ...) tracking from its box introduction. Does any one can confirm it please? I know US version can't open my old data file from Canadian version. So the only way I can use it the Candian version, however, if it doesn't support investment, what can I do with it?     - program trouble When I turn on my computer it is telling me that the microsoft money 2003 is installing this has been happening for about two weeks. I am unable to cancel this installation unless I end the task. When I try to remove this program from my computer it is telling me that the program is being installed.     - MSN Money not updating?? Hi all, I use Money 2001 and sync it with my checking and credit card accounts on MSN Money. (formerly MoneyCentral) Starting about 10 days ago, my MSN accounts have stopped automatically updating. (they used to update every 24 hours or so with my banks to get current data) I'm working with a support rep at Microsoft to resolve this, but needless to say, he is zero help. I'm toying with the idea of just removing my MSN Money accounts, and then re-setting them up.     - Re-enter payee information I have been using MS Money to pay bills and frequent annoyance is when I type in the payee, the selection list never shows the payees. I type it in and have to re- enter the account number and everything. Doesn't make sense that i have to keep putting this in. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?     - missing electronic payments in register I just started using money again a couple months ago after not using it for several years. When I look at the register it is missing several electronic payments that I know were made. One was a credit card payment, I just called the card's automated phone line and the payment was received so I know it was made but it's not showing up in the checking register. View is set to All Transactions covering All Dates, Sorted by Date (Increasing) so I'm thinking they should be there. Anyone have any ideas?     - Money 2002 - Income and Spending over Time Graph Greetings, When I run the Income and Spending over time graph it displays accurate information in each bar chart per month, but if I drill into an individual bar chart for the transactions that make up that months income or expense, it shows both income and expense transactions, not the specific ones that make up that particular chart bar.     - Matching QIF downloads to wrong amounts?! When I download a QIF statement from my credit union, Microsoft Money decides to "match" it to some completely unrelated transaction up to 2 months prior with a completely different payee and a completely different AMOUNT! This stupid program is even taking reconciled transactions and matching them up with downloaded ones, throwing the account out of balance by moving these transactions onto a completely different statement with different amounts! Then it complains about the starting balance being wrong, which is a result of it's own stupidity! How do you tell Microsoft Money that downloaded transactions HAVE to be the same amount in order for them to match?! I am not an idiot. I don't go into the program and just type in random numbers! If I entered a transaction, it is going to be the CORRECT amount, and I do not need some stupid program trying to say that I'm wrong when in reality IT is wrong! If I were to make a mistake when entering the amount, I'd rather just have that one duplicate transaction to look for rather than dozens of stupid errors created my the software every month. Does anybody know if you can force it to only match the EXACT amounts? I know how to adjust the date range that it searches for unrelated transactions to molest.     - Mutual Fund Basis (Help!) Yes, it's tax time again! I sold some mutual fund shares, and I'd like to calculate their tax basis given that I've reinvested dividend distributions over the years. I would like to use the "Actual Cost Basis" method, and have specified this for the investment. However, how can I get Money to show me the adjusted basis + real gain/loss that I can use for tax purposes? The standard capital gains reports doesn't seem to factor the distributions in calculating the gain / loss. Ideally, I'd rather not use Gainskeeper, since I'd like this info to be archived in the money data file, Gainskeeper seems like overkill, and who knows how long that service will be around. When I select my home within my Asset Accounts, and then select Change account details, and then try to select Wells Fargo, it does not appear in the drop-down list...     - Net Passport won't work with Money 2003 When I originally bought my machine from Dell in January of last year I noticed after a few months some problems. After some bickering with Dell they decided to send me a new tower and instructed me to send the original back. Naturally I saved all of my files (onto discs)I would download to the new machine, including my Money files. When I received the new machine and downloaded the Money file I noticed that when I'd launch Money, a sign-in window for Money asking for my .Net Passport sign-in-name and password popped up. I did not recall this happening on the first machine. When I attempted to sign in a 'Connecting to the Internet' window popped up saying: Microsoft Money needs an internet connection to proceed. Since America Online (AOL) uses proprietary dialer software, Money cannot detect an active AOL connection. Make sure you are connected to the internet. Then click OK. If I go ahead and click OK it lets me into Money, but will not let me use on-line services. Up until now I never had the need to use this option so I chose not to worry about it. This all takes place while I have the 'Use Money's online features that require .Net Passport' option checked. I don't and never had used AOL so why is Money telling me I need an AOL connection? Now (about 10 months later) I would like to use the on- line options, but have also noticed that sometimes Money won't even let me open the program when I have the 'Use Money's online features that require .Net Passport' option checked. So, I have to check the 'I don't need to use online features' option. Basically, it seems that when I downloaded my Money files from the old machine onto the new one there was a problem where the Money file either won't recognize my .Net Passport sign-in or it's something to do with the AOL thing.     - Money 2002- Strange downloaded transaction Often when I download transactions from my bank, they have a payee that is one of my Epays, but the real payee is usually another specific vendor. When I look online at my bank transactions, they payee is correct, so therefore money is renaming this for some reason.     - Experian credit report offer I signed up for Credit Manager through MS Money Delux. Unfortunately, I was unable to log on with the user ID and password they provided, so I had my account cancelled so I could re-register.     - 401K help . . . Hi: I have set up my paycheck info to automatically transfer funds into my 401k account (deductions before taxes). This money is transfered to my broker account as cash. Now that I have my broker statement, I add shares and the price as in the statement. But looking into my brokers account I see the shares I bought along with the price AND I also have all of the cash contributions from my checks. Now my 401k account balance is overinflated with both the shares I manually entered and the cash transactions. How do I make that cash account deposit become the shares I purchased?     - How do you account for fees in investment accounts? Hello, I was wondering how do you acount for fees in investment accounts? My retirement account has a $ 15.00 annual custodian fee. This is paid by selling $ 15.00 worth of shares at the time the fee is due. My financial institution removes the appropriate number of shares from my account as payment. If I enter the sell in the investment transactions and deposit the $15.00 into the cash / contributions account, money treats the sells as Realized Capital Gains / Losses in all of the performance reports. The performance data is incorrect by (15.00 Cost Fee + the Realized Capital Gain / Loss for the transaction). I'm having a problem backing up my Money file because the
backup file keeps returning to "read only" status. I
have to manually deselect the "read only" tab in the
properties dialog box; the file will then back up. The
next time I try to back up, however, the file has
reverted to "read only" status. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.
