    - Starting over? I started with MS Money a few months back (6 maybe?). Set it up over a weekend then never stuck with it. I need to get back to it now but the data is so old in my accounts.     - Money used to "wake-up" and ask to open when I downloaded my data from Bank I have M2001 and M2004 and when online with my bank and downloading statements, it USED to prompt me "would you like to open Money 200x ? " (2001 =ofx and 2004 =qfx types). Now it juts prompts me tosave the file - I then have to open Money and IMPORT. Did somethingon MY Pc chnage , or do you think it's the website ?     - Check Styles Worthless I just got M05 and went through their online check identification and purchase process. My checks just arrived and I very disturbed that M05 doesn't alow you to enter the style of check (e.g. Deluxe 80971). This check style has three sections, the top being the check, the middle, and then the bottom section for the payment record. Since M05 apparently thinks it's three checks (based on the Print options) i'm baffled as to how I am supposed to make use of the bottom two sections, which is why i bought this check style .... which of course msft said would work.     - Debt Planner Problem When I add a credit card acct to the debt planner and select that I'd like to pay 150.00/month, the planner generates a list of monthly payments, with the first one being $600.00. I have no idea how it comes up with that, but it is not correct. Any ideas? It's giving me a flase indication as to when the card will be paid off. Tag: Money 2005 Back Out Tag: 190140

    - Bills & Budget Bug - Still there?! I started playing with microsoft money small business 2005, setting up bills and a budget. At first I had everything in the budget. Then I learned I could add a recurring bill and it would go into the budget. Then I found the qif files from my bank would work and started setting up the bills properly. Anyway, after making all those bills in all those categories I ended up with budgets with doubles, triples and more values in each category. The only way to get rid of them is to take everything out of that category and then remake it. I see from Microsofts site that this bug has existed through many generations: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318841 They list it as applying to 2002-2004.. and..     - Downloading Broker Statements When asked to select the time frame of information I wish to download from a broker, the selections are: 1. last 7 days 2. 30 days 3. Custom Range 4. Don't remember I wanted to download my info for 3/1-3/31/2005, so I went to the custom range, where I could either enter a date or go to the calendar and click on a date. But I was only allowed to enter one date. What about the second date? Isn't that what a range means? And does 30 days mean the LAST 30 days or any thirty days? Should I have used that button.     - msofd.dll crashing too! This is crazy. I cannot get this stupid dll to work correctly. Reinstalled on a fresh system....Crash. Old System Crash. Sample File...Crash. Nothing is working.     - Can't log into money file I upgraded from 2002 to 2004 (standard) last night. It converted my existing file without any problems. I was able to connect to the bank accounts and retrieve the latest transactions. I closed Money to go work on something else but when I reopened Money later it won't sign into my passport account. Same result this morning. As a result I can't use any of the online services. I went to the msn home page and signed into my passport account manually and determined that Firefox (my default browser) was blocking my cookies for the msn.com site.     - Budget Probelem - Please Help! In Money 2005 Standard, I have both credit card account and normal cheque account. How do I budget for making payments to my credit card from my cheque account? If I categorise the payment as a transfer between accounts, I can't budget for this item. If I categorise this item as a credit card payment the other side, on the credit card account, gets categorised as income, which in artificially increasing my income. Can any one help?     - 2003 - Online Deluxe Upgrade Is there still a download URL for the upgrade from 03 standard to deluxe? I'm reinstalling on a new computer, and I have an online receipt and an auth code, but not a link to click on. And remind me - what am I getting, if I do everthing locally?     - Loan Drawdown I had a personal loan drawdown that went through my main current account and then I bought a car with this amount.     - Categorizing vacations? Say I go on three vacations during a year. I want to categorize spending by each vacation so I can see how much was spent per vacation. I'd also like to get a total of all three. Currently, I put each vacation expense under "Travel : Vacation" category. For the individual vacation, I use something similar to: Payee: Paris - 3/1/05" Category: Travel : Vacation Memo: Metro Ticket When I want to see what was spent for the Paris trip, I just run a report on "Paris - 3/1/05". If there is another Paris trip that year, I can run a report on it because it will have a different date. Is there a better way to do the above? It would be nice if the Payee were the real payee.     - canadian w/ us holdings i have some US stocks that money tracks for me...but it continues to apply the exchange rate to it. How do I get it to just leave it alone? for example, one of my stocks paid out a dividend in US Funds (the rest of my accts are canadian $).     - Recording company mergers I'm using Money '05 Deluxe, and using the Record a special activity | Record a merger wizard to account for an investment merger. It appears to just do matched Remove/Add Shares transactions. But it must also be somehow storing the original purchase date for the newly added shares, right?     - Money downloading into wrong account - how to fix? I am using Money 2005 Premium with Bank of America. You can download your statement directly from their web site by using Active Statemetn (i.e. .ofx). I can download my checking and savings accounts without any problems; however, ever since I went to Money 2005 I have not been able to download my credit card statement. It would download and say it downloaded successfully, and money would say 1 statement downloaded successfully, but nothing would ever show up on my BOA credit card account. Well today I figured out why. I was looking over some of my accounts and went ahead and displayed 'closed' accounts (I was looking for a transaction that had occured on an old closed account). It was then that I noticed that one of my old credit card accounts (that had been closed for years) had a balance due on it! When I opened the account I saw exactly what had happened - all of the times that I had attempted to download my BOA credit card account, the transactions where going into this old closed account!! I deleted all of those transactions, and then (for laughs) I downloaded my latest BOA credit card statement - sure enough, they went into this old, closed (non-BOA) credit card account! I can't delete this old credit account because it would screw up my balances and transactions (obviously)... So, the big question is: How can I tell Money to put the downloaded credit card statement transactions into the proper account? There must be a way to tell Money to not use the old closed account?     - Lending Money How does everyone track loans to others? Seems that the way to do it is to set up an asset account as a loan. What confuses me is how to record the transaction whereby you actually loan the money. For now, I've setup a new category for each of my loans but I can't imagine this is the right way to do it. I would have expected that you would setup the loan with the applicable terms and then transfer the amount of the loan proceeds into the asset account.     - Two accunts at same brokerage My Wife and I each have Roth IRA accounts at Fidelity. We also have a joint stock account. Thus when I set up her Roth IRA account to download into Money by using the second Fidelity download information I now find that the stock account is replicated within Money. I tried to use merge accounts but it will not allow me to do so as one is held at Fidelity and the other is held at Fidelity #2. Is their any way I can resolve it so that there is only one stock account between us? I do not see any way to declare which of the Fidelity Accounts to download with each account identification inside Money. Nor do I see anyway that Money will know that the joint account it sees using her id is the same as my account. It does see the account number so it would seem it should be smart enough to realize that they are the same account. In the long run I hope to get her power of attorney so that I can then download her account via my login identification, which will solve the problem. Till then this is messing up my records.     - Money ran out of memory while trying to retreive and display detai While updating my register based on transactions I downloaded, I get a message that "An error occurred, but Money ran out of memory while trying to retrieve and display details about what happened." And of course all I'm left with is an OK button and I can't complete what I'm doing. I've tried rebooting and running Money with nothing else going on but that doesn't help.     - W-2 Tax Reporting Figures Not Accurate I use Money to monitor all of my financial situations. This year, I decided to see how it did with supplying tax information. "Poorly" is the answer. I would expect the 'Tax Line Manager / W-2 / Your salary' and the 'Tax Software Report / W-2 / Your salary' to show a figure that matches my 'W-2 / Box 1' statement information. They do not. The reason is that the 'W-2 / Box 1' statement figure has pre-tax retirement contributions subtracted from the wages. When I enter my paycheck information into Money, I categorize retirement contributions not with an established category, but as a 'Transfer' to an investment cash account - which is actually what is occurring. As Money will not allow me to associate a tax line with transfers (only categories), the transfer amount does not show up in any Money tax figure reporting and, consequently, the 'Tax Line Manager / W-2 / Your salary' and the 'Tax Software Report / W-2 / Your salary' figures are artificially high by the pre-tax retirement contribution amount. To my knowledge, I have followed all the rules in setting up Money, yet this clearly does not work and seems to make the tax reporting aspect completely useless. How can Money possibly be used to reliably supply financial information to tax preparation software? ---------- Besides changing the retirement contribution categorization from a 'Transfer' to an established category (with an associated tax line), does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the tax reporting work properly?     - Switch Money Market Fund from Bank to Investment I have a investment type (not FDIC insured) Money Market fund through a bank. I set this up as a bank account. It would like to switch this to an investment account for reporting purposes but I can't see any way to do this.     - Strange check printing problem Just got a new OKIDATA laser printer (C5400n on sale). I like it a lot but have a problem printing partial sheet checks in Money 2003. I use the Laser checks with the stub on the left, three checks to a page. When I print a partial sheet (only one or two checks on the page), the printer doesn't realize that the sheet is supposed to be other than the default size, and generates an error message because the paper is not the correct size. I can set up custom sizes for the sheets with two and/or one check left and avoid some error messages, but I have to do this outside of the Money program and also change the default printer driver to reflect this odd size. Does anyone know exactly what Money is sending to the printer driver when it is printing an partial sheet of checks? That is with regard to paper size?     - MT2OFX Version 3.3 released MT2OFX is a free program to convert any downloaded bank statement files to QIF, OFC, OFX or QFX for use with Money, Quicken etc. Full info on http://www.mt2ofx.tk/ . New bits in V3.3: * The program to be run on the output file can now be chosen freely. This makes it possible to associate (for example) OFX files with MT2OFX, which can produce modified OFX and pass this to Money. * Payee Mapping works on the Memo field as well as the Payee. * Scripts can be activated and deactivated without removing them from the configuration * Button added to "About" dialog to produce a text file with all kinds of technical information. This file should save a bit of time for some support questions. * Language-dependent strings in external files so the program can easily be translated.     - problem registering money 2000 I have money 2000 running on my home PCs. I recently got a new laptop that had money 2004 trial installed. When I installed 2000 and tried to load it, it asked me to register it, and when I did, I got an error message saying it couldn't launch the registration program. When I loaded money 2000 in the past upon a new computer, it just gave me a choice of mail registration or on-line registration. Is there some way of getting the old registration program to come up?     - Mutual Funds not listed in drop down list Brokerage reports a dividend from a mutual fund on download, but when I attempt to accept it, Money 2005 standard tells me I must select the investment from a drop down list. But the drop down list does not display the name of this (or any other) Mutual Fund. If I attempt to tell money that it is a new investment, Money says it already exists and I must select a new name. Deleting the investment from the account doesn't resolve the problem, because the name apparently persists in the lists of investments; Money just doesn't display the name of this particular investment, possibly because it is a mutual fund and so it cannot be selected. Accordingly I can't update the statement by accepting the dividend. Any suggestions on how to make it display. Alternately how can I delete this investment and purge its name from the list of investments so that I can reclassify it as a stock. Stocks display in the drop down list without this problem.     - Tracking Total Equity of HELOC-only mortgage Does anyone know if an amortized Loan is the only type of account that can be associated with an Asset that tracks the Total Equity in the asset? (I've tried Liability, HELOC, LOC) Money 2004 asks during Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) setup if an association to an asset is wanted. But after replying in the affirmative, the asset, a home financed with a HELOC only, doesn't track Total Equity. Seems there's no point in associating the HELOC with an asset at all. I want to track Total Equity after making HELOC payments, so I guess I will have to set it up as an amortized loan, unless anyone has another suggestion.     - Money 2005 Premier- Unable to Enter Sold Securities Dear Microsoft, I have used Money for 5 yrs.years and THIS IS my final Year of Use. I am using Money Premier 2005 I repeatedly enter the sale of securities that I have CORRECTLY RECORDED. When I enter the sale, I get error message "Unable to record transaction" I AM SO FRUSTRATED as I have years worth of securities I am unable to sell.     - "Cash flow forecast" doesn't display any data Hi all... I have created in Money 2004 several accounts, 2 credit card accounts, 1 banking checking account, and others. At money home, in Cash flow fore cast section it is shown: "No data to display". When I press the + to show the details I get the following error message: "Please create at least one checking, savings or cash accounts before you go to the cash flow forecast". I remember when I first create the accounts, I could display the forecast. What may be happening? Is there any solution for this?     - Money 2005 Portfilio Manager "Screen Flicker" Money 2005 has the annoying habit of updating the Portfolio display a second or two after returning from the Price History Graph display. I have a relatively fast computer 3.2 GHz Pentium, 1 Gig of dual channel memory etc., etc. Is there something I can change in the Settings that will stop Money from doing whatever it is doing when switching displays? I have watched the cpu utilization and it peaks at 32% during this delay period. I have been using Money since day one and the number of active and inactive investments has grown to 100+. Is it possible to back out of the 2005 Money code and go back to 2004? Are
there posted procedures? I can not deal with having to reinput all my Etrade
data because the software wants to keep adding a new account instead of
letting me sign up for online services for my existing and years old account.
