Money Already Running - Fix yet?

Money Already Running - is there a fix yet?

I've read a few Posts but nothing aside from using Task Manager to quit the
Money process. Does ending money this way destroy my data or just end the
process of Money hanging?

Michael,

Care to give a stab at why it exhibits this behavior in the first
place? Some have supposed there are background processes involved. If
so, wouldn't terminating msmoney.exe inhibit this? If not, why must it
continue running at all?

One scenario: it has requested something from a server (might be the list of
new "offers from partners"); the server does not respond; Money waits for
the response, or until timeout.

This scenario happens quite often and not only with Money. I'd say, 2 times
out of 3, whenever some application appears hanging, it's only a wait. Give
it time, and in several minutes (sometimes up to several dozen minutes) it
will go ahead. You can run netstat -b and see what connections it has open.

Unfortunately, my "stab" isn't going to be very helpful. Vadim's
speculation -- waiting for a response from a server -- would explain the
situation where Money keeps running for a little while. But it certainly
doesn't explain the situation I've seen (in 2005, but not in 2006) where
Money was running 12 hours later. I suspect a relationship with backing up
my data, but I can't repro it.

I have seen it with 2006 as well, though not as often as with 2005.
When it happened I checked network connections and used process monitors
and could not find that msmoney.exe was doing anything.

I too suspect it is related to backing up data as I have never seen it
happen if I postpone the backup.

removeable device, such as a usb stick or external hard drive?

I back up to a different folder on the same HD and partition as the
money data file.
