    - Stock quote returns -99.900 After working just fine for several months, I am now getting a bogus stock quote for just one of my investments. The Last Price returned is -99.900. All other funds show valid and updated prices after I perform "Update Prices Online...". The fund in question is "CI Global Telecommunications" and its symbol is CIG853. The problem started about a week or so ago, and continues today. I am resident in Canada, and using the Canadian version of Money 2003 Standard Edition. Could this be a problem at the quote server?     - Money question, but not MS Money ;) Figured this would be a good enough place to ask... I'm WAY ahead on taxes this year. Anyone know if you can file a new W-4 form and actually request that *nothing* be withheld for the remainder of the year? I know I'd have to file a new one in 2004, but I'm more interested in 03.     - Software doesn't want to start Hi, My MS Money 2002 Standard version (installed by the manufacturer on a Dell computer) doesn't want to launch.     - reconciliation After reconciling an account, I would like to be able to print a report/statement from MS Money that would show opening/closing balance, checks/deposits cleared, outstanding checks/deposits. I have been unable to find such a feature. I know I can print a report by telling it the starting and ending date but I want it as it was reconciled. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!     - Money 2000 stalls system after two or three transactions entered Recently when I try to add transactions to my account register, it will let me enter two or three and then my whole system locks up solid.     - Annual Budget Report: Total Budgeted This problem appears to be a bug as it is easily replicated using the sample.mny file supplied with Money although I cannot find any reference to it on the Microsoft web site. There is some discussion of the problem on microsoft.public.uk.money in March 2003 but no resolution. Can anyone confirm this problem? Has anyone a solution? Thanks... Function: Annual Budget Report If report is customised to show Categories in rows and to 'Show categories with no spending or deposits' then Total Budgeted column contains 0.00 in all rows except Total Income, Total Expenses and Total. This occurs even though amounts are budgeted for categories in many other rows. Problem does not occur if report is customised to show Budget Groups in rows and to 'Show categories with no spending or deposits'. Then Total Budgeted column is correct is all rows. Problem can be replicated using an unmodified copy of the sample mny file supplied with Money (sample.mny): Customise Report > Rows & Columns tab > Select Rows to be Categories > Tick 'Show categories with no spending or deposits' Problem occurs.     - Inventory Errors in ver. 2002 I did not buy the 2003 release of Money Delux and Business because after extensive questioning of MS I was told that none of the Inventory problems that existed in 2002 were addressed in 2003.     - Money 2004 Repeated Failure on Passport Login I searched all the prior posts and couldn't find an answer to this question. When trying to add my Passport acct. to my money file, I get the following error message repeatedly, "Money cannot connect to the Microsoft .NET passport servers, possibly because of a problem with your internet connection..." Since I transfered the money file and added the Passport to my work computer and everything went fine, it seems as if the problem is isolated to my home computer. Does anyone know of a resolution to fix this problem? FYI, I've re-installed Money 2004 already, cleared my browser cache and deleted any msn, microsoft and passport cookies. It appears as if money doesn't even try connecting to the Internet before popping up the error message. I've also deleted client.xml and it is now the 28KB version. I added the Passport on my work computer successfully today, but when I try the file on my home computer I still get the error above. It appears that mnyschdl.exe, mis.exe and misuser.exe do not start on my home computer. They do, however, start on my work computer. Any advice? Tag: Money 2004 Tag: 148646

    - unwanted entries I was away for two months, making no entries in Money 2002. When I returned I found entries made while I was gone. They were entries that were regular entries, but ones I have always entered, not an automatic entry. I also found they were marked reconciled and of course, I had not done that. It has thrown off all the reconciling as I cannot seem to get rid of the "R" unless I delete the entries altogether. And I can't get any of my statements reconciled.     - MSMoney,Categories,Downloads I just got a trial copy of MS Money and downloaded my credit card transactions. I want to assign a category to each entry and know how to open each item and click on a chosen category, which it records. What I would like to know is - can I get Money to remember the category for a specific company. For an example, if I make a purchase on my credit card to Target and I download it from my bank, I would like Money to automatically remember that it goes into the Clothing category without me having to select it from the drop down list.     - Problem with Money 2003 report I am trying to make a report with Money 2003, I hae used this program for some time. I used Money 2002 prior to this. Up till now I have been ale to make a report by going to "Reports", "What I Have", "Account Balance History". Now I am getting a error message "There Has Been an Error Reading or Writing the File '.'" and a small window apperars "MSMONEY, with a yellow triangle and a !" When clicking the OK box or the Close X, nothing happens. I have to use the Windows Task Manager to close it out. Can someone help. I need to make a report for our local AMVETS meeting tonight.     - Investment Price Alerts I recently setup price alerts for stocks to better help manage our investments, but am not sure where the alert will show up if a downloaded price is below the alert I setup.     - Downloaded Statements don't appear in register I use MOney 2002 and have background banking set up with US Bank. It has been working succesfully for over a year until just last week. It has stopped showing the downloaded transactions in the account register but it does alert me that there are statements to read.     - does Money 2004 support unmarried partners? My partner and I have merged our finances since 1999 as a matter of convenience and a show of committment. However, since we are not permitted to file a joint income tax return, this generally renders all of Money's tax-related features useless to us since I can't separate the my income verses his and minimize our combined tax liability. As of Money2003, Microsoft has yet to create a version of Money that is able to accomodate the finances and tax implications of unmarried partners with merged finances. Does anybody konw if the 2004 version has such a feature? I really see no need to upgrade until such a feature is available (or we can legally file a joint return), since the older versions of money can manage my accounts and investments just fine. He came home right away and they drove together to the boy's school and picked him up. Little did they suspect that where the money came from was more shocking than actually finding it in the closet. As it turns out, the boy had been sending out, via e-mail, a type of "report" to e-mail addresses that he obtained off the Internet. Every day after school for the past 2 months, he had been doing this right on his computer in his bedroom. "I just got the e-mail one day and I figured what the heck, I put my name on it like the instructions said and I started sending it out," says the clever 15-year-old. The e-mail letter listed 5 addresses and contained instructions to send one $5 bill to each person on the list, then delete the address at the top and move the other addresses down, and finally to add your name to the top of the list. The letter goes on to state that you would receive several thousand dollars in five-dollar bills within 2 weeks if you sent out the letter with your name at the top of the 5-addressee list. "I get junk e-mail all the time- and really did not think it was going to work." the boy continues. Within the first few days of sending out the e-mail- the post office box that his parents had gotten him for his video-game magazine subscriptions began to fill up with not magazines, but envelopes containing $5 bills. "About a week later I rode my bike down to the post office and my box had one magazine and about 300 envelopes stuffed in it. There was also a yellow slip that said I had to go up to the post office counter. So thought I was in trouble or something (laughs)." He goes on- "I went up to the counter and they had a whole box of more mail for me. I had to ride back home and empty out my backpack because I could not carry it all. " Over the next few weeks, the boy continued sending out the e-mail. "The money just kept coming in and I just kept sorting it and stashing it in the closet, I barely had time for my homework." He had also been riding his bike to several of the banks in his area and exchanging the $5 bills for twenties, fifties, and hundreds. "I didn't want the banks to get suspicious, so I kept riding to different banks with like five thousand at a time in my backpack. I would usually tell the lady at the bank counter that my dad had sent me in to exchange the money and he was outside waiting for me. One time the lady gave me a really strange look and told me that she would not be able to do it for me and my dad would have to come in and do it, but I just rode to the next bank down the street (laughs)." Surprisingly, the boy did not have any reason to be afraid. The reporting news team examined and investigated the so-called "chain letter" the boy was sending out and found that it was not a chain letter at all. In fact, it was completely legal according to US Postal and Lottery Laws, Title 18, Sections 1302 and 1341, or Title 18, Section 3005 in the US code, also in the code of federal regulations.     - budgeting problems Money 2004 Deluxe is my first experience with finance software. I like many things about it except that it can't get my budget correct. I use autobudget for most, but not all my income/expenses like the directions say. All the way through creating and editing of the budget, my numbers seem good. The problem arises when I click finish and enter into "Review your current budget status" My money file dates back to the end of May. My income and expenses budget are almost the same at about $5,500 per month. I tried desparately through august to get my budget correct to no evail. My august budget was and still is 38,781.50 in income (IN MY DREAMS!) and $18,850.45 in expenses. My current year budget reflects similar types of amounts ($128,152.24 income/75,096.95 expenses). Then Sept. 1st came and the budget is correct in the review. I've studied it carefully and all the numbers used are the same. I can ignore the august budget and move on, but my yearly budget is all messed up. Could someone shed some light on a beginner.     - Small Business - Wizard to gather my information... run it manually? Howdy, I have MS Money 2004 SB version. Previously I was using Money 2000 so this is a big upgrade. WHen I tested it on one of my PCs, I opened the old file and did an upgrade to it. I *thought* that it then put me through a wizard asking me for my information, my wife's information, our business information, etc. THen I took it off that PC (was just a test) and installed it on the PC I actualyl will be using for Money. Did the same file upgrade, but this time it didn't ask for any information about me or my business.     - mico money version 5.0 1997 When printing the income and expense report there are unassigned transactions in the report that were assigned to specific accounts. There are also budget numbers that were put in on a monthly basis that so not appear on the printed reports. The account transactions report appears to be correct because it shows the correct categories and amounts. I have been doing budget differently, but just wanted to switch to the "standard" way of doing it. So, I created a new budget and selected AutoBudget. yet support it. I am told around mid November 2003 they will have tested it.

I would be surprised if there are not similar problems with other banks

For UK banks, the Nationwide is probably the most forward looking and only
one which supports direct banking (excluding Woolwich, but they won't go
past 2002). Others, providing OFX only downloads will continue to work okay.
