    - Odd problem with electronic payment in Money 2003. I have a problem with one electronic payee where I send the payment, but instead of putting the little envelope with the lightening bolt in the ! column in the account register, Money puts an E in the C column. The payment does get made, but when it comes back from my bank, the entry in the account register doesn't get matched up, so I end up having to delete the payment with the E in the C column. It comes back from my bank with the same payee name, so I don't think it is a matching issue. I have many other electronic payments that all work fine. I even deleted all the payee information and reentered it all and this is still happening. It is not a big problem, but it is annoying. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?     - Recurring inter-account transfers in Bills & Deposits I've been running Money 2002 on a Windows 2000 Pro O/S for 12 months without problems and have several inter-account transfers set up as recurring Bills & Deposits. Until this month they've worked fine. But they're now shown as a 'payment' in one account and 'deposit' in the receiving account instead of a transfer between the two. Has anyone seen this problem and got any idea how to cure it? I've: > downloaded most of the 'critical' updates for Windows 2000 Pro - could one of these be the cause? > deleted the transfer and reinstated it in Bills & Deposits but with no success. > reinstalled Money, again without curing the fault.     - Balancing the checking account Hey guys, can someone help me with the following? When I first started using Money 2002 14 months ago I made the mistake of entering a guesstimate of a bank balance so that I could learn how to balance the checkbook. I'm stuck with the old balance and cannot seem to pick a new starting date and balance, so that I can make a fresh start.     - Autobudget values way out Money 2003 I've been trying to use Autobudget to help create a budget, but the values it's returned are way out and result in a budget that show I'm spending much more than I have been. A closer look at the transactions it's based its figures on shows that it appears to take occasional expenses that have occurred within a given month and create a monthly figure of a similar amount without taking into account the months where there is no spending. This seems unbelievably crude way to calculate budget figures and I'm sure there must be something I'm not taking into account.     - can't start Money as a Power User I could not start Money 2001 when I logged on as a Power User. I could not find Money 2001 in the start menu. When I tried to start it from the exe file, the software did not response at all. I had no problem using it when I logged on as Administrator.     - Money 2002 import problems. When I download bank statements from my bank some of the transactions merge with manually entered transactions which the program is supposed to do. The problem is that the bank transactions are merging with unrelated manually entered transactions and they are being copied over when I accept or change the entry. Any ideas?     - Upgrade Deluxe and Business 2003 to Premium 2004? Does anyone know if an upgrade from Money 2003 Deluxe and Business to Money 2004 Premium will work? I purchased Deluxe and Business 2003 because I was thinking of setting up my own consulting practice a couple of years ago. I never ended up using the Business capabilities of Money however, and now I'd like to just buy Money 2004 Premium to get rid of the extra UI fluff that is in there for Business users.     - Gangsters! Money for PocketPC 2003 does not install on PocketPC 2003! I just bought a new HP5550 (running PocketPC 2003) but when I tried to install "Money for PocketPC" that came with Money 2003 it refused to install on it! I am told that I need to upgrade to Money 2004 (which includes a newer version of "Money for PocketPC") to be able to sync Money with my PPC again. What's the rationale behind this? I can't see any! Obviously M$ just saw a new possibility to force customers to upgrade their desktop versions of Money even though they might be perfectly happy with their current version (at least I am)! I call such attempts to force new versions and upgrades down my throat GANGSTER METHODS and I will remember that next time I buy any SW that's supposed to sync data between my desktop and my PDA!     - Error restoring backup I have Micrisoft Money 2000 Deluxe ver 8. I recently backed up to a floppy as I wanted to reformat my drive and re-install the operating system and other components. When I re-installed Money from CD and tried to restore my backup I got an error message saying file corrupted or not a Money backup file. The file on the floppy is MyMoney2Backup d1.mbf . I may have updated Money sometime down the road from the internet but dont remember where I got that update. It might have been off of the CNET or ZDNET websites.     - Money 2004 will not update stock quotes after initial update The first time I loaded Money 2004 and updated stock quotes it worked. Since then, it provides a checkmark in the Call Summary Mesages next to the message "Your call was successful" in the Category "Quotes, New, and Exchange Rates". However, I see the time of the download is the time when I ran the first update, not the most recent. Money support has not yet fixed the problem. Has anyone else had the problem? IF YOU WANT LOTS OF MONEY, THEN YOU BETTER POST THIS NARRATIVE A LOT! A little while back, I was browsing some newsgroups and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, "OK, why not try this if it is a scam I will only lose $6.00.". Anyway, it said that you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address at the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in some newsgroups(There are thousands) or e-mail it to some people. No catch, that was it. The main difference between this system and others is that you have a mailing list of 6 instead of 5. This means that you average gain will be approximately 15 times higher!!! So after talking to a few people, I thought, what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00 dollars, right? But like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office(1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! I then invested the measly $6.00, and stamps. Well, GUESS WHAT..... within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I still figured it would end soon, and didn't give it another thought. But the money coming in. In my first week, I made about $36.00 dollars. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00 dollars!!!!!! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and its still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in VERY rapidly! It's certainly worth $6.00 and 6 stamps, I spent more than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly why it works....also make sure you print a copy of this article NOW. So you can get the information off it as you need it. The process is very simple and consists of 3 easy steps: STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST. + your name and address." Now get 6 U.S. $1.00 bills (or equivalent in your local currency) and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope to prevent thievery. Next, place one paper in each of the envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name, and a $1.00 dollar bill. What you are doing is creating a service by this. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! If you want to do your postings in different sitting, you'll always have this file to go back to. Then from the pull down menu 'Options', select 'Show all Newsgroups'. After a few moments a list of all the newsgroups on your screen server will show up. Click on any newsgroup you desire. From within the newsgroup click on the 'TO NEWS' button, which should be in the top left corner of the newsgroups page. This will bring up a message box. Step 5: Fill in the subject. This will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group. Go back to the newsgroup 'TO NEWS' posting you are creating and paste the letter into the body of your posting. Step 7: Hit the 'Send' Button in the upper left corner. You're done with your first one! Congratulations... INTERNET EXPLORER USERS: ________________________ Step 4: Go to newsgroups and select 'Post an Article'. Step 5: Fill in the subject. You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O. box due to the large amount of mail you receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.** Now the WHY part: Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $626.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive $15,625.00! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! And as I said 5 responses are actually VERY LOW! Average are probable 20 to 30! SO lets put those figures at just 15 responses per person. Here is what you will make: at #6 $15.00 at #5 $225.00 at #4 $3,375.00 at #3 $50,625.00 at #2 $759,375.00 at #1 #11,390,625.00 When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is, do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the Internet and reading these articles everyday, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so... People Have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, everyday, with thousands of those joining the actual Internet. Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will work you just have to be honest. Make sure you print this article out RIGHT NOW, also. Try to keep a list of everybody that sends you money and always keep an eye on the newsgroups to make sure everyone is playing fairly.     - Changing MSN Bill Pay Account I have Microsoft Bill Pay with Money. However I have several checking accounts. I want to change the bill pay from one account to a different one. Ideally I would like to pay out of what ever account I wish but I cannot find out how to either make the change or activate more than one account.     - Money 2004 'PAY FROM'...a bug? I just downloaded the trial version of Money 2004 which was installed over Money 2003 (Microsoft recommended). When I go to make an electronic payment there is NOTHING in the drop-down dialog box for 'PAY FROM' (there should be my checking account information). Incidentally 'PAY TO' and 'CATEGORY' work fine and have all the data that I had in Money 2003. Any one else experiencing this problem? Does anyone have a solution before I switch back to Money 2003?     - Missing payees with money 2002 and now 2003 I am frequently experiencing payees that just disappear from the master list. I have read numerous other reports of this and I am wondering if anyone has any solutions. I know how to get them back by using a find, replace, and rename procedure when it happens, but a solution to prevent them from disappearing would be nice. I noticed that the payees that were added most recently seem to be the ones that are disappearing. I also, just for kicks, decided to count the number of payees on my master list. There are exactly 399. Could it be that money can not have more than 400 payees and so it starts to delete older ones as new ones are added? Could someone who is experiencing the missing payees problem please count the visible payees on their master list and tell me if there are around 400 that are on the list. Another thing that I thought might be a source of this discrepancy is the upgrade process. I started with money 2001 way back, then upgraded to 2002, and now 2003. Still the same 3 year old data file, it has just been upgraded with every new version's conversion tool. Perhaps something went wrong as the versions carried forward?     - last connection didnt go through I use Money 2000 and tried to connect to Wells Fargo like I always do. I keep getting a message that says the last call was interrupted so they will try to resend it (It was an inquiry into a payment that wasnt received). After I try to connect, the pop up message says that money is unable to receive an email response ... WF says that I need to delete completly the 2 closed accounts I have at the bank that were closed due to check theft. Anyway, I dont want to delete because I reference old data all the time.     - Budget - Unable to change amounts Hi, I have about 6 Mths of Income / Exp in Money 2003. When I do my budget it automatically extimates my expenses & fills in the $ amount. When I finish the budget & look at the "Review your current budget status - Current Month" report it shows that I have Expenses over budget. Example Bills:Telephone has actual of $71 & budgeted $0 When I Right Mouse Click & choose Edit. I get an option to cahnge a bill in this category or add an additional expense in this category. When I choose another category ie Automobile:Gasoline it opens up a budget window, where I can type in a Recurring amount & choose a Period, which allows me to change the budget figure.     - Money 2004: questions from a possible Quicken convertee i'm trying out the new version of Money and giving it another chance since i'm getting horribly fed up with the Quicken interface. took a while to get use to the very different UI but i like a lot of the features so far. (Microsoft really needs to get a usability person to work on this, though. good gawd, there are some weird interactions.) here's a few questions and comments: 1) is there anyway to sort by status in an account register or is there a way to exclude unaccepted transactions? i want to be able to see what my actual checking account balance is versus what it would be if all pending transactions had cleared. in Quicken, i do this by sorting by the status (cleared) column. i see no way to do this in Money. 2) is there a way to display the time as well as the date of the last download of information? in the portfolio view, i see in the left-hand pane that it displays the last time the quotes were sync'd. but in the bottom status bar and in the portfolio table itself, only the date of the last sync is shown. it would be extremely useful to also know the time. 3) how customizable are the invoices in the Business version? i only have the trial version and am very interested in seeing how good i can get invoices to look and what choices i have on fields. i use Quicken's invoices extensively to bill my clients for consulting work but the Quicken invoices look like ass and frequently don't use the fields i need. 4) is there a way on the Home page to display net worth? i can go to the account page and see net worth (or, rather, net balance) but if Home is intended as a portal view, then it really should have a net worth widget. 5) for the bills and other scheduled transactions that are shown at the bottom of the checking register, is there a way to quickly enter them into the register without having to go to the Bills page? Quicken pops up a small window that allows you to customize the transaction before entering. that's all for now. i'm sure i'll have more questions as i play with MM2004. thanks, sean.     - Opening Money All of a sudden, everytime I try to open MONEY (2002) it gives the following message: CANNOT DISPLAY END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT WHICH MUST BE DISPLAYED AND ACCEPTED BEFORE YOU CAN USE THIS APPLICATION. I have the following assets: Small cap market index fund Small cap Value Index fund Micro-cap index fund Large Cap Growth Fund International Emerging Markets Index Fund Total Bond Market Index Fund. MS Money 2003 Deluxe does not allow me to break out my asset allocation like that above. I can only do "Large, Mid, and Small equities, Bonds, and Cash." It's not detailed enough. Does anyone know if MS Money 2004 Premium has made asset allocation better. Man, I'd run out in a second to buy it if they have improved it. I re-balance every year, and I'd like to see a pie chart of my investments and percentages in each asset broad category. Over time I've experienced various difficulties with the My Money.mny file, and so far I've been able to correct them with the Money Super Salvage Utility, which I've downloaded. having a problem with setting up two account numbers at
the same bank. I can connect with either one by changing
the account number in the online setup for the
institution, but I haven't found out how to create a
second account. Could someone please give me a clue?

Give the bank a different name each time you set it up -- like "Bank His"
and "Bank Hers" Money will then connect twice and download the two accounts
separately.
