    - money deluxe registeration after downloading Hello, I downloaded Microsoft Money 2004 Deluxe a few months ago. I've recently had computer problems and had to reinstall all my software. Because I downloaded a trial version of Money 2004 and then registered it over the phone and paid for it with a credit card, how do i now get my registered copy back? Thanks for your help. J.     - Assign payees to split transaction components I deposit a handful of checks at the bank. I download transactions from the bank, and get a single big deposit. I split the transaction, into the individual checks; and assign categories. Is there any way to associate these splits with payees? So that when I go to that payee, the deposit(s) will show up?     - Problems with base currency in Portfolio I have my base currency set to CAD in my account in portfilio (to match my broker). When I import a statement Money makes a complete hash of the data. Stocks which I have traded on American exchanges are automatically converted to CAD, including the purchase/sell price and the amount and commission. I need this information to remain in USD as the latest price quoted then screws up all of the gains etc... Even if I try to enter the transaction manually it insists on me entering the prices in CAD. I use MSN portfolio and don't have this problem (and that's free!!). I cannot change the base currency as I also trade Canadian stocks. Any suggestions?     - Problem using Money2004 to convert Money98 file. Hi, I have previously been using MSMOney98 & today bought MSMoney2004 (std) & insatlled it on my WinXP Pro PC (1GB RAM, 120GB Disk) without problems. When I select my previous MSMoney98 file to convert (& & give it the right password), Money2004 starts converting but eventually stops & shows the error message : "Money cannot open this file because it was created by an incompatibile version."     - Money2002 tax software report gone I posted this several months ago and received no response. I have Money 2002. Tax Software Report has disappeared. I went to Tax Reports. When I select Tax Software Report then select Go To Report/Chart it says it is loading but nothing happens. It just sits there and tries to load. I get no report. I also went to Reports Gallery and selected Taxes. There is an icon for Tax-Related Transactions,Capital Gains and Loan Interest but no icon for Tax Software Report.     - 2002 monthly report closes-at wit's end When I try in Money 2002 to run Monthly Report beginning in 10-03 I get obnoxious message: Money version has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I have isolated the problem to an account that I manually enter transactions-not a downloadable account. I have tried so many things in Microsoft Knowledge Base that have not worked. I have tried Import, salvage utility, corruption issues, changing categories to those found in Sample Money, ad naseum.     - Wrong Investment in Download Activity I'm running into a frustrating problem that I'm hoping someone has an idea as to how to solve. For what ever reason, Money is trying to match an existing investment to a new investment. Everytime I download my investment statements, it sees I have X shares of MSFT, decides that it doesn't match the existing Microsoft investment, and creates a new investment of "Microsoft Stock". It then adds X shares (essentially doubling it) into the account. I've deleted the "Microsoft Stock" investment multiple times, but it keeps recreating it. How do I get it to match the correct and existing investment rather than creating this bogus one? I believe this came about in that when I set up online transactions, it couldn't identify the shares, and I accidentally set it to it's default rather than matching to the correct investment.     - QIF Import missing Transactions I downloaded a QIF file from my bank and imported it into MS Money 2004 (with all of the latest updates). However, some transactions are missing. I can look at the QIF file in Word and I see the transactions, they appear to have the proper codes etc., but MS Money doesn't "see" them. This really causes me a problem.     - Problem with Online statement... Money download a statement from netbank, and then told me I had 2 items to review. I went to the account and there were none that I could see. I went up to and selected "see all transactions" instead of just unreconciled ones, and couldn't find them there. I know for a fact that there were 2 new entries from my bank today. I went and did another update from the bank... and then it told me I had 4 items to review (the 2 original, plus I'm guessing a copy of the other 2). I accepted the 2 that then showed up in my register, but on my account page it still says I have 2 items to review. Is there any way to reset this? Thanks for your help!     - Adding Items To Drop Down Menu - Money 2001 In MS Money 2001, there is a drop down menu just below the "num" column of the account register. This menu contains 2 items; 1.     - Problem with OFX files Hello, I have downloaded the credit card transaction OFX file from the bank and when I open it in Money 2003 the transaction charged amount is shown in credit column and credited amount is shown in charged column.     - UPDATE PRICES ONLINE I have been MS Money for several years. My most recent version was Money 2003. I noticed on my homepage that I hadn't gotten updates since 09/03, so I got the updates. Now, in my Portfolio, when I click on Update Prices, the Update Online option is gone. All that is there is Update Manually.     - Password-Passport Problems I am trying to move my money account from a computer that uses Money2002 to a computer that uses Money2001. When I use it on the present computer I sign in using MSN Passport ID. When I try to open it in the new computer that uses 2001 it asks for my password.     - MSN Money Screen Prior to 8-01-04 Prior to 8-01-04 I was able to access my MSN Money screen and obtain all my investment portfolio and receive accurate information. However, after 8-01-04 the MSN Money screen was changed and now I am receiving inaccurate information together with an unfriendly update format screen that is hard to comprend. After making several attempts to contact various MS technical support reps including tech support reps from India(their English is hard to understand!) each one of them always refer me to another phone number or different web site.     - Reinstalling Money Trial Upgrade I installed the Money Trial and then later paid for the upgrade. I had to reinstall the program after rebuilding my machine and there is not way to tell the trial version that I have paid to upgrade it. It just says the trial has expired and closes down.     - Yearly snapshot: rate of return is strangely computed! Consider a simple case of $1000 deposited yearly and earning pre-tax rate of return of 10%, inflation rate is 3%. In Jan 2005, $1000 deposited and the Yearly Snapshot shows the total amount (priciple+gains, including inflation) is $1050. Shouldn't it be $1100? Why the gain is 5% instead of 10%? In coming year 2006, again the total amount is $2205 (1050+1000+(1050x10% + 1000x5%)). Shouldn't it be $2310 (1100+1000+(2100x10%))? Not to mention if I checked the including inflation option, the value becomes more bizzare.     - Quicken file conversion problems I'm trying to test out the new 2004 by importing my quicken file throught the initial Wizard. Only problem it I get the following error message: Your Quicken file could not be converted. Money could not convert your Quicken file. You might have run out of disk space or system memory.     - This operation cannot be performed... Oh please someone make this annoyance go away!! I have Money 2003. Everything works fine but when I login with my password it tells me "This operation cannot be performed" so I have to click ok. When I click ok it works fine as if I got no error message. I know its minor but it is soooo annoying!! How do I make it stop!! It has to have something to do with the file because I run two different files in Money. I've tried all the suggestions posted here and at other sites: cleared out temporary internet files, start Money with the "-s" option, uninstall/reinstall Money, update HTML help, clean the registry, et. al. Nothing seems to work--I can see the help topics/subtopics, but when I click on a topic I get the error. Are these help topics locally installed or is Money trying to access them from the Internet? The reason I ask is I have a new version of Norton Internet Security installed, but it said that it auto-configured itself for Money. But, maybe it needs to be tweaked a little. Any other ideas?     - Money statements not downloading properly (Money 2004 Deluxe) For several months, when I download statements in Money format from my banks (direct via their website), the file doesn't make it to Money 2004 Deluxe. I get a popup as if the file is being downloaded but I get no indication from Money that it has been imported properly. It is almost as if the file is 'lost' someplace and Money does not recognize that a download occured. I get similar indications if I download in QIF format but select 'open' vice 'save'. If I download the statement in Quicken qif format and save it to the hard drive and then double click on the QIF file, Money imports it with no problems. Only by 'saving' the file first and double clicking the file, can I get Money to import it. It has been annoying, but I have lived with it, until now. I have an account at another bank and the results have been the same, but this bank does not offer the ability to download Quicken files in QIF format. It offers QFX formats which Money will not recognize, so no bank statements. I have tried "Make sure that in IE6 Tools->InternetOptions->DoNotSaveEncryptedPagesToDisk is not set." as was a suggestion for previous posts, but that doesn't work. Consider a test case of $1,000 of "other income" received just once in August, 2009 (i.e., five years from now), growing at "inflation minus 1%" (i.e., at 2.5% where inflation is set to 3.5%). The $1,000 is loosing purchasing value at the rate of 1% per annum. Compounded for five years, the percent decline should be equal to (1+0.01)^5 - 1 = 5.101%. Therefore, the value of the income in current dollars (in August, 2009) should be = $1,000 - 5.101% = $949. However, the Lifetime Planner reports the inflow income amount in the "Yearly Snapshot" in August, 2009 as $958 - almost a 1% error. (For longer durations or larger amounts, of course, the error is magnified.) Having experimented with other test cases, I am confident that the issue is NOT "rounding error."     - downloading fund prices hello, I am trying to update my investment and microsoft money 2002 will not update the price. The code is GB:051417. It is not updating but when i go to the find symbol in the properties of the item, it brings up all the up-to- date information. So it is being updated but not on my screen. It stopped updating on the 30/07/2004. The error message is: "Money was unable to save an online price for GB:051417.     - backup file won't work!! OK, now I've really had it! This is my last resort! Several years ago, while using Money 97, our computer crashed. We had backed up every time we used money, so I thought we were OK. However, we could never get the backup file to pull up after fixing the computer and everything was lost. I vowed that this would not happen again, so I tried backing up on a ZIP disk instead, and then on CDs. I also got on this newsgroup and got the advice that I needed to first copy the backup file onto the desktop and open it from there. I tried doing that with the old program, and it seemed to work. I thought the problem was solved. However, in December we got a new computer and upgraded to Money 2004 Deluxe. I went back to backing up on a floppy because I figured not using the "copy to the desktop" technique had been the whole problem in the first place. Well, our new computer had a problem a couple months ago. I had backed up the checkbook, but during this problem, I was able to get into safe mode and backed it up again just in case I had missed anything. We ended up having to reformat the computer to solve the problem, but I felt safe knowing I'd backed things up. Once everything was reinstalled, I tried to restore the backup. I tried opening the backup from the disk, and it wouldn't work, and then I remembered that I would probably have to copy it onto the desktop and then open it, so I tried that. It still didn't work. Basically what happens is if I go into the program (Microsoft Money) and click on Restore under the File menu, it goes through the process a while, then says that the file is corrupted or it is not a Money backup file (it has the money icon and everything by it though...). If I try to copy it, it works for a long time, and then gives me a data error, which says "cyclic redundancy check" in parenthesis after. Then I found something in the Money program that said it would repair corrupted files, so I tried that. After working for a while, a pop-up message comes up that says "Invalid Data base." If I view the "Log" for the process, it says there are "no broken records in the original." So, I am at a loss! Maybe I just have a bad disk and I am out of luck, but I don't know why it wouldn't have told me the disk was bad every time I used it. This is extremely frustrating! I don't know why I even use the program if I'm bound to lose everything if we ever have a computer problem. Someone please help or at least put me out of my misery!     - Old bill shows up instead of new bill Good morning... when i download my new transctions from my bank money 2003 canadian seems to assign my auto insurance payments to previous insurer, not the one currently setup with automatic bills in Bills & Payments. so everytime i do a download i have to go and delete all the instances (usually the last four) that got imported. any ideas how i can get money to recognize these payments in the downloaded transactions should be associated with my current auto insurer; not the previous one? and then not re-enter old transactions and associate new transactions correctly? -- Headed for the second star to the right and straight on 'til morning...     - Account register sorting problem Hi. I searched this group via Google Groups and did not find an answer to my question. In Microsoft Money 2004 Small Business, I set my checking account register to "Sort by date" and "Sort Decreasing". That part works; however, the bottom (oldest) transaction is automatically selected. I hit Ctrl+Home to select the top transaction. That is fine as long as my Money session is ongoing. When I exit Money and return to the very same register, Money takes me to the bottom transaction again. It annoys me to have to Ctrl-Home in every account register each time I launch Money!     - Reports in Money Small Business 2004 Since "upgrading" from Money SB 2002 to SB 2004, when I run a Sales Analysis Report (ie, "All Projects" or any project for that matter) . . . NONE of the sales/invoices are included (except as $zero) for the dates BEFORE I "upgraded" the software. The paid (or unpaid) invoice (s) for all of the projects are still there, showing the correct amount of money, they are not, however included in ANY type of report I try to run. In other words, I can ONLY get totals within a report SINCE I "upgraded" (since 6/1/04). IF I were to run any sales reports with the dates set earlier than 6/1/04, all I get are $0 totals. You may be looking for File|Archive. For too many reasons to post in a short
message, I do not recommend archiving and many other long time posters do
not either.
