Error installing Money 2000
Installing Money 2000 Standard on an XP Home computer (with pretty much all
the latest updates, SP's, etc.)
Gets all the way to the end and indicates that ACMSETUP.EXE has encountered
an error. This occurs just at 100% on the installation progress bar. Trying
to install using full admin privileges. Tried copying the entire contents of
the CD to a temp directory on the HD and installing from there with same
results.
Any pearls of wisdom? My wife is tired of balancing the checkbook on our
ancient 400 MHz PII computer and would rather use the new computer.
As much as I like Money, I'd rather not simply upgrade unless that is the
final answer. Anyway, I won't know if I can afford it until I get it
installed and balance the checkbook. :-) (just kidding).

budget problem with 2004 trial version
I have an electric bill entered in my checking account. I have a budget
setup with a budget for electricity. My problem is when I go to the home
page I'm warned that I'm over my $0.00 budget for electricity. When I go to
my budget monthly report everything it okay. This happens for some other
catagories as well...is this a know issue and is there a fix or do I have
something setup wrong maybe?

Investment Account Associated Cash Problem (Money 2004)
Greetings,
In Money 2004, I have a Roth Ira. I regularly make cash
contributions to this account from checking, which normally show up in
Cash Transactions tab of the investment account. I electronically
sync with both my bank (checking) and my broker (Ira).
Somewhere along the line one of these transactions got jacked up.
Now for example, in Cash Transactions i see a balance of $150.36,
however, in the "Your Portfolio : Holdings View" I see a
"Contributions" balance of $300.36. Additionally, whenever I view any
graph of assets, "Associated Cash" is consistantly $150 higher than
the correct value displayed on the "Cash Transactions" tab for the
account.
If I add or remove $$$ in Cash Transactions, "Contributions" and
"Associated Cash" on graphs move accordingly, but remain $150 off. So
the obvious questions are how did this happen? Why are they
different? And, how can I reconcile these two values?

Money clone?
I have Money 2002 on the home XP box that I use to track some
investments. My laptop is a win 98 machine with no financial programs on it.
Is there a freeware program I can use that is compatible with Microsoft
Money? I only have recovery CD's that came with the desktop and they won't
run on the laptop. Rather not have to buy Money and install on the laptop

Problem with downloaded transactions
I use Money 2004. When Money downloads the transactions
from my bank, it no longer matches the transactions with
information in the bills and deposits section. Example.
Say I have a bill for $75.00 in bills and deposits. Well
the bill is paid (online bill pay), and that transaction
is downloaded into Money. Well at the register the
transaction is there but the bill in bills and deposits is
never matched and removed. What happened. It use to
work, but now it doesnt. I hope this makes some sense.

Can not reconcile or delete a deposit
Microsoft Money 2002
I have a deposit that I can not seem to mark as
reconciled. I also can not delete it. If I try to
delete, I get the message 'can not enter the transaction'.
Anyone have an idea how I'm supposed to fix this?

Cannot restore from Money99
I am trying import my data from my old version of Money
(money 99 oem) into money 2004 and not having any luck.
I keep getting a error message and the file closes. The
message seems to point to a problem with a file named
mnyob99.dll. The helpful staff at microsoft tell me its
a corupt file and I am out of luck. But the file (my
money file) opens fine on my other computer. What can I

Crash when viewing portfolio with performance view
I recently got a copy of Money 2004 and coverted my Quicken 99 database.
The conversion went fine and it mostly all works, but when I try to view my
portfolio in performance mode, Money crashes. The crash is a little odd in
that Windows doesn't ask to send an error report to Microsoft. Any ideas?
For those technically inclined, I attached a debugger to the msmoney.exe
process and repeated the steps that lead to the crash. The debugger reports
a lot of floating-point overflow exceptions just before the process
terminates, so perhaps Money thinks I have a zero-cost basis for some of my
securities and it's not telling me what the problem is - it's just crashing.
This isn't terribly friendly behaviour - Money should detect that a problem
is going to occur and inform me where the problem is so I can take
corrective action. There don't seem to be any patches to Money 2004

When I try to install Money 2004, or remove Money 2003 I
am told I must insert the 2003 disk. I can not find it,
how can I install the 2004 version?

Money 2004 convert from Quicken
I have installed Money 2004 and did a convert from my
Quicken 2004 file. All my accounts come in but all
transastions are zero with a daye of 1/1/1990. Also
Money complains that I have 132 payments on $2000 overdue
to an account I never even heard of. What did I do wrong?

Problem after archiving
First, the http://umpmfaq.info is not avail so I can't
check there.
Here's the problem: In April I upgraded from Money 2001
to 2004 Deluxe. Last month I archived all transactions
from 12/31/2003 and prior.
When I went to balance my checking acct it is off by
8,000! In the acct setup the opening balance amount
matches my ending paper statement balance from
12/19/2003. But the 1st transaction in the register now
shows a balance of (2,874.89) in stead of the 6152.11 I
was expecting.
Any ideas? I did go through most of the transactions
looking for unreconciled amounts or duplicated
transactions but found none?

I can't do setup for scychronize with ms money. About 60 days ago it

Hello to the group,
I have had MS Money 4.0a for win95 and have been using it
on my WIN ME without difficulty. I am thinking about
moving to WIN XP and would like to know if this program
will work. This MS Money program has a great loan
claculator that has saved me lots of $$$. I am unaware
that newer versions may or may not have this loan

Converting MN4 files to Money 2004
I (we) have been using Money v4 at work for the longest....
I developed a virus and my IT person took my computer.
Getting my computer back when I double click on Money I
get an error message that the registry is corrupted and to
re-install Money. I can't find the CD. That's a problem in
& of itself.....
However, I d/l'ed a trial version of Money 2004 to try &
get back up and it's not showing me anything!!!!
Is there a conversionn process to fix this?

Can't see downloaded transactions
I am using Money 2004 STD. Money has started giving me
problems with downloaded transaction. On Account screen,
It says 'Transactions to review' but no change in Balance
and no transaction in register. Changed View on register

I am currently using desktop Money 2003 Deluxe & Business. I am
going to upgrade to the Money 2004 edition with emphasis on
small business. I noticed that there are changes made in the
software titles. Is Money 2004 Small Business the right choice
for me, if features for small business is emphasized?
I would also appreciate your advices about the methods of
upgrading. Do I need to uninstall version 2003 and then install
version 2004, or just install version 2004 on the top of version
2003? If I need to uninstall the old version first, how can I
save those settings in the older version?

Capital One giving me corrupt Money import files
Money is saying the files I get from Capital One credit card are corrupt.
Some months import fine, while others I get an error. I try to get support
from Capital One, but they keep giving me the runaround. Anything I can do
with Money to get this to work?
I have about 50 transactions a month and rather not input these manually!

I Screwed up
Somehow I have my money account on the Palm messed up and I want to
overwrite it with the desk top program. I set it to "desk top overwrites
hand held" but it still doesn't put the correct balance on the Palm. Is
there a way I can just wipe out the ultrasoft money register on my Palm and
downoad it from the desk top??

recording company merger help
I am fairly to Money, as I had been using Quicken from way back ( I think
that Version5 was my first). My latest version was Quicken 99(Canadian),
which handled everything to my satisfaction, but earlier this year my
investment price download option was cut off. To stay with Quicken I would
have had to shell out about $100 Can for their newest version, XG, to buy
the software, then an addition $100 per year to keep my subscription valid.
I felt this was a bit extreme so I decided to try MS Money 2004, Canadian
version(about $30). So far I'm fairly happy, but there is a bit of a new
learning curve.
Anyway, here's my problem. I owned shares of company ABC, which recently
was bought out ( or mergered with, depends how you look at it) by company
XYZ. One of my ABC shares now became 0.442 shares of company XYZ. How do I
do the transaction in Money? I tried doing a "Record a special activity",
but the only options whic come up are "transfer an account" or "record a
split".Since the older version of Quicken would have handled it, I must be
missing something.

newbie--mortgage splits insurance
Thanks for the unofficial FAQ! I couldn't find my
problem, though the recent escrow difficulties are
similar.
Today I thought I'd properly adjusted my brand-new
mortgage account, but ran into a problem. There are only
three categories involved in my monthly payments:
Principal & Interest, property taxes, and homeowner's
insurance. These last two fall under the category
of "Other Fees," if I'm not wrong. I had to manually
adjust the Other Fees to make the interest rate and
payment schedule jive with what my bank thinks is going
on. However, once I fixed that, I notice that the
mortgage account is not tracking my principal and
interest amounts correctly. Shouldn't my mortgage account
match my amortization schedule? I think Money [04] is
heaving my other fees into the mix. Where should they go?
Forgive what is probably a stupid oversight on a newbie's
part, but I can't seem to find a solution. I'd like to
fix this soon before I get too many payments into this
loan.

unwanted auto reconcile
I am experiencing an unwanted "auto reconciliation" in
Money 2004. When I download transactions (manually or
automatically) for one of my citibank credit card accounts
all downloaded transactions are marked as reconciled.
I have auto-reconcile disabled and download for several
other accounts (including another citibank credit card)
without this problem.
In searching this newsgroup I found similar complaints
from others and a suggestion to put in a dummy transaction
that won't be matched by the bank. I tried this, but it
didn't work.

Foreign Tax Withholding - can't balance
Hi:
I own some Nokia stock and when it pays a dividend part
of it is withheld by my broker as "Foreign Tax Withheld"
The downloaded transaction shows up in the Investments
transactions as a transfer to the cash account as a
payment or credit. My broker statement shows it as a
debit to cash with is correct as I do not get the money.
When I try to balance I am off by the amount if the
transaction. Can anyone help me solve this?

Multiple Promotional Credit Card Rates
Is there a way in Money 2004 to have more than one
introductory rate? My wife has transferred so balances to
her credit card account using balance transfer checks
over time and the rates range from 2.90 to 6.90% for the

Money Express doesn't allow Deposits and Withdrawals
I have Money 2004 installed on Windows XP Professional.
I'd like to use Money Express to enter deposit and
withdrawal transactions, but these menu items are
disabled. When I right-click the money express icon on
the task bar, I see a menu option to "Add a New
Withdrawal", but the item is gray and disabled. This item
becomes enabled when I launch the full Money application,
but that defeats the purpose of quick transaction entry.
I vaguely remember searching for a solution to this
problem months ago, and I think I found something that
suggested the problem is related to using Passport login
with Money. Does anybody know a solution?

Account List Deleted?!?!
Hello Everyone,
I've searched the knowledgebase and cannot find anything
on this error message and thought maybe you all could
help. Every time I try to look at my Account List
(whether through the icon, or menu or home) in Money
2004, i get the following error and Money shuts down.
"This item has just been deleted, possibly by another

Everything else appears to work. I just can't get to my

Downloading if institution provides only Quicken support?
I have an account at an institution that only provides support for Quicken.
They do not provide QIF file downloads or ActiveStatements (i.e. the
download needs to be set up from withing Quicken). Is there any way to get
the statements into Money (other than downloading the PDF files they provide
as "electronic statements" and typing in the data)?

Problems with investment account
I have an IRA account (at TD Waterhouse in case that matters) where I had
the entire portfolio (e.g. $10,000) invested in a money market. I recently
purchased some stock and the downloaded transactions included the buy (e.g.
$5000) and a sell of the money market to cover the purchase (e.g. $5000).
Now Money is reporting that the account is the buy amount greater than it
should be (e.g. $15,000). Clearly something has gone wrong. What do I need
to do to get the account set up so that Money a) gets the total value of the
account correct and b) will continue to track the account properly in the
future from automatic downloads.

Electronic statements and MS Money
I enter my electronic Bank of America statment into MS
Money once weekly. I have also told Money about my
reaccuring bills. When I pay a bill, do I enter it into my
registry? Keep in mind that my bank statment, includes my
payments automatically. I'm worried about my reoccuring
bills counting twice thus throwing off my cash forcast. In
other words, I'm afraid that my reoccuring MS Money bills
will count in addition to my bank statement. How the heck
does MS MONEY know that my Bank Statement already includes
my bill payments.

stressing me out because it's cash forcast are WAY off.
